- Erin Elliott said her addiction to fentanyl was so strong, she considered using just hours after an overdose almost killed her.
A 24-year-old Carlsbad woman said her addiction to fentanyl took over her life and almost destroyed it. Erin Elliott said at first she was using fentanyl once or twice a day. But then her habit grew to every thirty minutes. She said she spent around $1000 per week on fentanyl.
She admits she lied to her parents to get money. She described fentanyl as feeling like a warm blanket.
"Something that makes you feel safe for when you’re really cold. You walk out into the sun and that first ray of sunshine just hits you, that’s what it feels like," she said.

If it feels like warm sunlight, then why not just walk out your front door, you live in San Diego!!!!!
If only it were that easy.
Thank you for sharing your story. Mom, you have to turn your anger into as much support as you can.
Its not the parents fault. Im 41 and still struggling with a fentanyl addiction. I managed to stop using needles in March of 22, and ive been on Methadone since 2018, but i still stop completely. I hate myself for it
She's beautiful and I am praying she makes it.
Both women are gorgeous.
@@ramencurry6672 Who is the other gorgeous woman?
I used to be on percocet and it always gets me when people describe heroin or other opiates as a warm blanket. That's not how I would describe it. The percocet feels like nothing pretty quicky. It just helps you to feel normal but when you first take it I would describe it as when you get the good butterflies in your stomach. Or just this good feeling you have of relaxation and energy at the same time. I guess everyone is different
Yes. Good deacription. Im a fentanyl addict and have taken every opiate out there. Its not a warm blanket feeling. Its a feeling of a euphoric wave in your body that yes, gives you energy at first and makes you excited because youve just taken it, to tiredness and comfortably relaxing after. Pain numbing for bit.
Same
This girl us going to relapse unless her mom gets more supportive & less angry.
Yeah, when I got clean my sister told me she had no supported really hurt my feelings she kept saying I'd just use again.. I'm now 260 days clean from fentanyl.
So very proud of youErin! Your courage to speak your truth and your willingness to change gives hope to many.
It's so sad that the mental health field and legitimate pharmaceutical cannot help people with their emotional or mental problems and these people go to fentanyl and other street drugs. Thank God for Narcan but still people use the illicit drugs to feel better. Why can't we, in 2022, not have good solid help for people all over this country wanting to feel better and nothing helps, except for a few minutes?!!!!!
She looks like Adele
It becomes news once it reaches the nice neighborhoods ...
I’m glad ur all getting help and I really hope it lasts, but I’ve had a very different experience, I’ve been on fentanyl for over 15 years for a bone disease, and I take it when and how much I’m told to, and it helps, it can b taken safely if ur careful
Prescribed fentanyl is completely different from whats on Available on the street.... no comparison.
@@msjessicahall prescribed or not, I’m on a high dose of a very addictive drug that I have managed to take successfully for over 15 years, I get 3 months worth at a time without it getting out of control, why? bcos I choose not to abuse it, it’s a choice we all get, and nothing will help until u take accountability for it, blaming the drugs is a cop out
Heroin and fentanyl is the devil, I overdosed and had to learn to walk to again and I've never been the same, stay away
@@sarahgreen8409don't take it for a week see what happens
Not illicit Fentanyl.
Was the synthesized drum beat really necessary?
Erin Elliott is a very brave woman for telling her story in order to help people..she undoubtedly will get backlash..because of the stigma. But I think she is awesome
You use the word brave over this GFTO you wouldn't know the difference brave are the men and women that fight in wars for this country not this garbage of seeing youth can't Deal with small problems so they stick a needle on themselves!! How dare you😡
@@broman7271 and heres the stigma😒
@@broman7271 I see..you have to shoot someone with a gun..in the guise of someone or something to have some sort of one upmanship on this remarkable woman..you must be hella man..yeah
This is my best friend in the world. Thank you, she is awesome
There is nothing brave about fighting in the rich man’s oil wars. Enough with the troop worshiping
I do feel bad for this woman but it feels worst being on the other side, being a family member and watching them die from it now that’s a story that hurts to hear.
Absolutely. I am dealing with it now. My son Geno is in his 2nd rehab and plans to join Army. I am asking for prayers that God continues to help my son make better decisions. This is brutal! The only time I can breathe is when he is in rehab. It destroys families.
my daughter got clean of it & all odds & stats were against us we did it at home i learned from her you gotta really have the want
always comes back to the parents
Not true. You need to do more research. I have 6 adult kids. Sullivan died from fentanyl July 22nd 2019 at age 19. My son Geno is in 2nd stint of rehab. My other 4 have never even vaped or smoked a cigarette.
I think she will use again, sad to say. It’s too early for her to be preaching sobriety. I need an update
Go girl!!! I pray for YOU!!
I’ve NEVER done drugs in my entire Life. How about people simply NOT start or try drugs period. It’s a choice. I’ve made the choice to never do or try any drugs. Simple. Never blame others and take responsibility for your own actions.
You're so ignorant it's sad. I hope you have no addicts in your family that have to be around you. When I was younger I watched my dad lose himself to meth addiction. I was mad for a while.. thought it was a choice. Until I started struggling with my mental health and fentanyl addiction. Pray and be grateful you don't have to go through it. Because you have no idea the pure agony that living with addiction is.
@@xlunax3657 oh, Please. Being a junkie is a choice you and daddy made.
It makes me sad that the first thing she thinks of from her experience is “I’m another statistic”… not “omg my mom and dad, they will have lost a child I’m so sorry for putting them through that”
But that is making the situation about someone else besides her. She can’t live in guilt of what she did to her mom. She is sober now and choosing to say she doesn’t know if she will use again (whoosh is very honest). It’s wrong to assume she needs to feel guilty about what she did. She was the one that decided to use. And she was the one addicted and did it to herself. She can’t get clean for anyone but her self. Which is why she is reminding herself that she could have been another statistic. So shame on you for assuming she needs to feel
That way towards her mom and It’s wrong to tell people what they need to feel.
Naloxone is good. Prevention is better. I never have seen a thorough analysis of why the opiod crisis actually exists. I have my ideas about it, and they are not pretty for the US society. But, these are only my ideas. A good scientific basis would be better.
For sure she's going to relapse. She's not done experimenting
Million percent
We’ve just really gotta press how deadly it can be, and urge people not to try it. After that.. it’s just natural selection sadly. I don’t understand why people try this stuff, just smoke some pot and call it a day!
Pot is so good, and safe when it’s legally obtained. Plus it’s common to be natural pot even on the street because they bootleg it from legalized states often times
I turned down all the hard stuff when I was a teen, y’all can to.
And I was a cool guitar guy in a shady crowd, not like some spazz!
Well the cartel makes it so you could just smoke it on tinfoil. They press these pills and it's not as deadly as the news makes it out to be.
Stupidity is deadly, folks.

So many people all over the world laughing at us Americans and calling us weak and spoiled, so many people dying of lack of food and we are dealing with this shit! I'm embarrassed of being a American and seeing and watching this. 🤬
That’s a good point 👍🏼
yea. how pathetic.
Unfortunately it’s a reality in America. The problem is, people want to stop but the withdrawals are horrible. People maybe make it a day or 2 max before they cave from the dope sickness. They end up using it just to feel “well” they aren’t getting High anymore. That’s the misconception. They aren’t getting “high” they just have tolerance so high that they need it so they won’t be shitting their pants and wiggling around like a tweaker and vomiting etc. dopesickness is like the flu X 100. It sucks. And forget the mental anguish from it. Unreal. Anyways. Praying for all of them. And last but not least. Ladies….keep your clam clean
Sometimes drug use can be traced back to family abuse, childhood neglect, or anxiety. Problem is when people look to drugs to cope instead of more helpful solutions.
Is this Adele
They are killing themselves
Its time to give these lil rugrats some DISCIPLINE. Getting a call at 3 am… how about little angel you’re at home by 8… LIGHTS OUT at 10. If not you are GROUNDED for a YEAR DAMIT!!! Tough love can SAVE her LIFE!!!!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Don't do drugs to start with and you'll be ok.
Can't feel bad for drug users anymore. Self accountabilty. So many more people dont do drugs. So. Matter of choice and decisions made. You roll the dice. You've been told you can die. Too bad.
You know what's worse than addiction? A complete lack of empathy. You should be ashamed of yourself. Be grateful that uou don't have to suffer with addiction.
