    Crossfit is seriously the best thing I have ever done. The variety and the intensity is awesome, you never get bored.

    Ricardo, you're absolutely right, the technique can fall toward the end of the workout. It is something we try to balance; a new personal record versus technique. You see a break in proper form in Olympic athletes some times as they approach a personal record. It is a constant fight, though, to maintain that form when the body is getting hypoxic, the adrenaline is starting to flow, and it feels like there's no way you can finish. Be well and God bless.

    I love watching the RANDY wod! It is so cool to see folks who don't really know how to do snatches begin to super-fatigue after rep 40 or so and just exhibit the absolute worst form possible for the next 35 reps! :)

    I'm fortunate that I don't have to pay for my gym. I work on a military base and im a dependent so it's free. It has classes but I just use the crossfit room when it's empty. Really peaceful

    for anyone putting Crossfit down, I dare you to try it or if you can afford it...add it in addition to your normal weight lifting routine. It is very difficult and a great way to get in shape. If you use good form you won't get hurt. It's not bodybuilding, it's athletic/endurance training.

    One of the first honest videos I've seen about Crossfit, in that they call it what it is; trying to fabricate a "sport" out of exercising.

  • @Mer134
    @Mer134 12 лет назад

    Yeah I see your point, and I actually agree in some extend. To be a competitive crossfitter you have to stop doing everything at once, and focus on one thing at a time. If you see crossfitters suchs as Jason Kalipha, Rich Froning, Neal Maddox etc, they are DEFINITELY not scrawny ;). They've got periods where they train Olympic lifting or Strenght and size improving programs exclusively, and sometimes high volume crossfit related programs.

  • @arom125

    @pollockdinner - "People aren't going to fill stadiums to see how many kipping muscle ups a guy can do." Crossfit games were held at the Home Depot Center in California which has a capacity of about 25K. Oh and it was completely sold out all 3 days and carried live (and after that replayed) on ESPN 3. If you're gonna knock something at least do it accurately

  • @Mer134
    @Mer134 12 лет назад

    As a somewhat competitive crossfitter myself I agree with you. You have to get all the basics in crossfit, and then work on strength and technique (that's my approach at least). But as the average Joe that just wants to get in shape and get some decent muscle mass I think Crossfit alone does the trick :)

  • @SqualoSurf20

    hand-release push-ups. makes you disengage at the bottom for a full range of motion instead of how some people cheat and don't go down far enough. Not crappy, they can make you better.

    Oh man, this reminds me why I hate gyms so much. I am extremely happy with my home gym and working out with my wife in private. We have so much fun together and we don't waste any time traveling to the gym.
    Go introduce yourself to a bunch of strangers that will yell at you when you cant complete your repetitions looks like a lot of fun ..... There was enough peer pressure already in school. No need to go back to that to get in shape...

    Can't speak for that man. He says in multiple interviews that he's been given a great skillset aka. good genetics, and he must somehow be able to maintain the musclemass with the training he's doing. But yeah, it would be amazing if Crossfit was the only sport (let's just call it that for the next 10 secs) in the world where "juices" and other "supplements" wouldn't be used. However, many Crossfit athletes has a background as football players or hockey players and has a good strong foundation.

    I'm not sure I'd go there either if the prices where so spicy at my box. Rather buy some equipment myself and train at home if I had to choose. Fortunately Crossfit affiliates in Denmark charges aprox 60 dollars a month, which is affordable compared to the rest of the world. What a Crossfit affiliate gives is also the social aspect of crossfit which I find very appealing and important. It's like being on a team, but it's still an individual effort.

    My point is, that Crossfit covers a broad variety of exercises, of which explosive training, strenght and conditioning etc is covered. Many athletes needs those requirements, but they've gotten personal trainers etc to make those programs. so yeah the list of professional football players doing crossfit at a local box is probably not very long, but it does exist. They probably call it HIT-training or circle training, but the idea is the same.

  • @monstresticator30
    @monstresticator30 11 лет назад

    Ok now you're confusing me. So are you saying that you do use strict PUs and MUs in your circuit training after asking why you would need to do them? I never said that fast movement exercising isn't necessary nor did I ever mention anything about looks vs performance. And you basically just reworded what I said after stating that it "makes no damn sense"
    Can you better clarify what you mean?

  • @rhythmnsmoke
    @rhythmnsmoke 11 лет назад

    It doesn't take a genius to understand what that means. Fitness is involved in sports yes. But the competition part of the sport isn't the Fitness it'self. In Crossfit, the Fitness itself IS the competition or what is made to be the sport.

  • @captainbrain6749
    @captainbrain6749 11 лет назад

    I disagree with people saying crossfit is for retards or "people that never did any sports", im 30 i've been playing basketball for 15years, i started body building 5 years ago, and honnestly i find crossfit interesting. Trying to get as much muscle mass as posible by eating like an elephant everyday bores me and i dont think ill continue in this way, i find crossfit concept more healthy and interesting. I guess its like for any sports : just need a good coach.

  • @monstresticator30
    @monstresticator30 11 лет назад

    Are you referring to "we" as in those who participate in Crossfit, or "we" as in the general fitness community? I'll answer both.
    Strict pull-ups and muscle-ups really aren't necessary for Crossfit games since reps need to be done in abundance and done quickly.
    In general fitness -- including Crossfit without training for the games -- strict pull-ups and muscle-ups are two of the best bodyweight exercises to achieve a strong upper body.

    At least 6 ppl on the rowing machine, none of them can row with the proper technique? WTF?! And what makes it unique is thats the only activity with a complete disregard of health - the rate of injuries crossfit exposes ppl to, because its based on too zero knowledge on biomechanics, anatomy and biochemistry. Oh and that most of the things they do they stole from other sports, and the way they do them in other sports counts as cheating. Crossfit really is unique in that way.
