Everybody's (rightfully) talking about all the details shown off in the video, but can we take a second to talk about the choice of outro? I love it lmao
The start of the music in KO arenas and the Mario Bros arcade game is actually a reference to Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Hmm, more precisely, this is a reference to Mario Bros whose music is a reference to Mozart's music. So, the fact of making a reference to Mozart's music was not the goal of Super Mario Bros Wonder.
Yeah, because back in the day videogames budget was pretty low and developers tend to use classical pieces in order to avoid to pay rights and composers.
another fact that I don't think I've seen yet is that the music adds percussion while your moving, but takes away the drums while your standing still. sorta similar to how the gen 5 pokemon games did some of their music
5:39 Wait till Nathaniel Bandy finds out about this... (For context, he recently did a video where he completed the game while collecting every single coin)
Regarding trivia piece #11, younger players may remember this music from the original _Mario Bros._ from copies that got included as bonus (multiplayer) content in several Game Boy Advance _Mario_ games, particularly the _Super Mario Advances_ series of ports. I certainly remember it!
Great video! The attention to detail just keeps makes this game better and better! Good catches! Tho the music ones… well I’m a big Mario nerd! Even then, I didn’t catch the arcade one at first, so thanks for that! I knew it sounded familiar. Edit me here, just realized I used like four exclamation marks in a row lol
The change in animation for Fast Dash is actually yet another reference! It's supposed to look like the animation for sprinting at top speed in the original Mario World 3. I'll never forget how adorably silly it looked trying to get to top speed to work a Tanuki Suit.
I mean it has become more like a standard thing now. SMG, Odyssey, World and the Movie did it. The NSMB series also did it but in those games their hands are always closed.
On condarts away, there is a much faster infinite 1-up trick, but it’s harder, first you go to the six bricks and kill the con dart above it. Then ground pound cancel once with the top 2 bricks and once with the far left brick, then get the koopa troopa and hold the shell so your player is balancing, and kick the shell up, then jump into the left wall
It's amazing that we don't notice the micro details Nintendo puts into their games. Work that doesn't necessarily need to be done, but shows dedication to making the game as best as can be.
Here is another cool detail. The airship theme partly came from the super Mario maker 1985 style airship theme, same one in super Mario odyssey airship theme at the beginning.
So, other than rails and super speed, now Mario has Magnet Dash aswell 😂😂. (And roll since Odyssey (continued roll since Odyssey, I know it actually originated since 3D Land))
One of the loading screen tips tells you that you can't bubble up (any) spiky enemies. So yeah obviously, since Spiny has spikes on his shell, he's considered to be... well, spiky enemies. (Not trying to dunk you or anything, just pointing out that there's a point in the game where it directly tells you this particular behavior)
I appreciate some animations are also from the classics. The sprinting animation from Super Mario Bros 3. and Super Mario World. The regular jump animation for Mario is based from Super Mario Bros. 2 cover. Imo, what I wish theres a bonus theme from Super Mario World. Or Bowser’s theme also based from Super Mario World. Super Mario World needs a bit more references imo.
6:27 not the Fash Dash! 7:18 it’s also funny how you show a very difficult 1-up trick right as you pass one of the easiest infinite 1-up tricks in the game
I really love the amount of detail Nintendo put into this game. Makes it feel more alive than the NSMB series

1:46 Patrick:"Don't forget the pelvic woo."
The flowers spouting random lines reminds me of how Super Mario 3 was supposed to be kind of a stage play. They feel like loud audience members.

But the Phase 2 start is an original piece that got remixed in Wonder.
Beat me to it
Ok boomer
The speed run community for this game is going to be insane!
I'll start soon

Spines aren't the only one immune to Bubbles thanks to their spikes, Pokeys share the same immunity as well

Excellent work as always. Thank you for sharing these! Some I'd already found, but most were new to me!

So many context specific animations!
Speedruns boutta go crazy with #5
I love the small things in games like this when people like you point them out with help of the lovely people in the comment section of these videos
This channel's videos are always so good
Vine Grab Bossting is gonna be strat for speedruners...
Also, liked the butterflies details.
It's these tiny little details that makes this GOtY material!
It's amazing that we don't notice the micro details Nintendo puts into their games. Work that doesn't necessarily need to be done, but shows dedication to making the game as best as can be.
I've done that vine thing by accident on occasion, and it's killed me every time

The animation change for fast dash also applies to walking btw. It looks so silly lol
Incredible video as usual 🔥

Damn I felt old during that Mario Sunshine music bit
4:10 How could I not remember this music? After all, I was an early '00s kid!
So many 1-up tricks it's awesome
Nice video! Do you plan on featuring other games on your channel?
So many great details
What does "galvanized expression" mean? Awesome video btw
The fact that some people might not know the music from Super Mario Sunshine is insane to me.
Speedruners be eatin' good with the grapling vine trick
Have you tried to move in the overworld when there is no path. The character move the head to the direction you've try to move.
That was like the first thing I noticed when I started playing XD
I remember doing that vine tech once accidentally, but when I couldn’t replicate it I just forgot about it lol
That Vine tech is crazy! Unfortunately, I don't think I'm good enough to pull that off
You didn't talk bout the mario world's music in a break time level
I can’t wait to ceave to fully dissect this game
4:29 Nice shot! Also, 5:08 I never put that together!
if you hold down with a koopa shell and let go of hold then does it lay the shell in front of you?
I haven't played Mario Wonder yet, is there really an OST with Smooth McGroove?
6:26 is it the same animation as jet run?
Nope, jet run has the same animation as the normal dash :)
4:59-5:30 I was wondering why those jingles sounded familiar.
A galera aqui é boa jogando Mario!
I literally thought I was the only one that noticed this! 5:18
grappling vine is the best badge
Wowie Zowie! 😺
ill call the vine tech "air hump" (giving the animation so dont blame it on me)
