  • First oil change on my 2022 Ford F150 Raptor 3.5L HO Ecoboost. I show the tools and supplies needed and how to change the oil yourself and reset the instrument cluster oil life monitor.
    I accidently published this video in 4:3 size format instead of 16:9 so it is a bit more square and the sides are cutoff. Whoops! I won't do that again.

    Another great video! Nothing worse than oil leaking off of those skid plates for a week after you change the oil😂

      If I could like your comment 10 times, I would. You are 100% correct. If the truck isn't up on a hoist, the only way to do it without a mess is to take the skid plates off!

    Excellent video & agree on taking a littke extra time to remove the covers/plates entirely (instead of just the access panels). I went from a Chevy ZR2 that was super easy to the Raptor & heard stories of oil going everywhere atop the skid plate.

      I like everything to be clean when I'm done. If you do it with the truck on ramps (therefore not level) instead of a hoist, oil will run on top of the plates. You are completely welcome to do how you prefer, and I'll continue to do it the way I prefer.

      As I mentioned in the video, it can be done without removing the skid plates. But, when up on ramps, rather than level on a hoist, it is near impossible to do without getting any oil on top of the skid plates that will later drip onto the ground. With the plates removed, I can get up in there and wipe out the oil filter drip tray and clean everything up just like brand new.

    When you go to reinstall the drain plug for the oil pan is there some kind of rubber o ring or gasket on the plug that you have to replace after a while? I have watched other videos on how to change the oil on cars in general because I eventually want to do it myself as I have never changed oil before and I have read a few times that you have to replace a gasket on the plug but im wondering if you don't have to do this for the raptor.

    • @gearzgadgets5872
      @gearzgadgets5872  Год назад

      Yes, there is a rubber seal on the drain plug. But, in my experience, it does not need to be replaced. It is bonded to the drain plug, so unless it gets torn or damaged for some reason, it is reusable. Good luck!

      @@gearzgadgets5872 I can see that for certain people such as difficulty getting under the truck from the stock height. I did mine on flat ground without ramps, oil from the filter drained directly through the square cut out below it. Nothing drained onto the panel or around it. But I did break the filter loose a few turn and let that steady stream drain out. That’s prolly why it didn’t go everywhere.
