Mark, by way of Jack black, got me started on KB 3 years ago. Was luckily to learn during Covid…pretty much every day. I still point my thumb back. I’m not looking to get huge but continue to stay fit. It’s been great.
These intro videos are a great reminder of the fundamentals. I used to reference your orders videos but it’s been a while so these are a welcome refresher. 🤘
Introducing the Single-Arm Swing at Kettlebell 9 is a great idea. When I am traveling, using this Swing means I can bring one kettlebell and I will be a little too heavy for me on the Snatch, but correct weight on Clean and Press and Single-Arm Swing, and low on Goblet Squat.
I'm just starting out buddy. I picked up 2 -25 pounders from USA iron and I appreciate how you are detailed about beginning technique because this is exactly what I need
Really looking forward to following this program through, Ive been working my way up through successive workout sessions adding 1-2 of your exercises/warmups at a time while building your recommended warmup sequence. I thought I knew how to do kettlebell swings before but I must have been wildly throwing myself around, good thing I was younger when I did that, nowadays I’d probably injure myself, keep up the excellent content, Mark!
Hello, I'm getting mixed info on the timing of the lock out in swings. In your videos you appear to fully lock out when the bell has swung forwards up to a height in front of you. That's what I've been doing, but now been advised to lock out much faster at the beginning of the up swing, before the bell rises. Would appreciate more perspective on this. Thanks
The arm should be relaxed and loose throughout the motion. The arms have to make contact with the inner thigh because it’s the hip thrust that pushes it up.
@@ding174 thanks Ding I'm talking about timing when the legs lock out at the front of the hip drive. If you watch Mark's swings, his lock out is at the top of the swing when the bell is in front of him Do you mean the arms are more relaxed if the lock out is earlier and the bell floats up? Thanks
@@hazelmaines2040 there Marks video #2 where he discusses and demonstrates the double arm swing. He points out that the shoulders have zero effort in the swing. Everything comes from the butt, Achilles’ tendon, abs, thighs. Stand, thrust hips and lock knees etc. the arm is just an anchor and the hands connection and swivel point for the KB. Watch Pavel Tatsouline kettlebell video. He gives good demo with the double hand swing by gripping a towel with both hands as the towel is anchored to the KB and he performs the swing. What would you advise a 75 yr old male, to start training with. I have always been active I walk 15 miles a week, I push mow my property which is a half acre. Of course as I get older it takes me two days of mowing. I have been watching your videos for approximately two months. Should I buy the competition bell, it seems to be consistent with handle deminsions were as other bells seem to have different designs. I know you have mentioned suggested certain start weights. Would like your input, I workout at home but would really like to start a kettlebell regiment. Thanks and God bless, your videos are very inspiring.
Hey, did you get into it? Don’t worry about the weight to get started, the beauty of kettlebells is the full body movements and so on, we don’t have to worry too much about progressively overloaded with weight like in other forms of training. Imo the progression comes more from getting more explosive in the movements
I've had an abdominal diastasis (bulge along an abdominal surgery scar) for 30 years. It is profoundly improved after a year of tetrising your Mill/Squat, C&P, TGU and Intermediate KB programs. It is an amazing and unexpected benefit. A simple Thank you seems inadequate for the great videos and programs you provide.... but Thank You.
Hey Mark. I’m curious, with this specific workout. How many reps should we do for each arm? Or is it an EMOM like the two hand swing. If so how many reps for how many minutes starting out?
16 sets of 6/6 14 sets of 7/7 12 sets of 8/8 11 sets of 9/9 10 sets of 10/10 Jump weight and start over with volume cycle. That's the way I do it, FYI.
@@cucciafr68 Thanks!!! I might have figured that progression out on my own......but more likely I would done something much more complicated than it needed to be.
I don't think this is right. Pavel Tsatsouline doesn't internally rotate his arm when doing the one-arm kettlebell swing. Neither does Bud Jeffries. I tried doing it the way Mark describes and it injured my shoulder. If you decide to follow what Mark says, I recommend proceeding with caution.

Ha ha. You didn't say "all up in your business ". But you did get the point across. Thank you for the intro video series.
My joints def feel it after single arm swings, need to improve my form. Thx
I'm really really enjoying the detail of instruction and form. Go nerds!

Shouldn't the fist be neutral?
Do you have any tips for keeping the swing arm shoulder back while keeping the thumb pointed back?
I have a tendency to rotate too much...
I feel that's the only "thing" with thumb back. It disengages the Lat muscle and allows the shoulder to rotate. I've not found a way around it.
“Thumb goes up ur bum” my mates saying to make sure ur hand is always in correct place
Interesting coaching cue that might work, LOL.. You had me re-watching this two times thinking that was said in this video, LOL.

Typically, internal shoulder rotation is frowned upon. Why is this different? Thanks.
Why is internal shoulder rotation frowned upon?
@@MarkWildman many pt/trainers say it causes shoulder impingement. I'm new to KB and did your method, felt fine to me.
arm turned inwards like that makes me feel shoulder impingement just watching it. Is there a nuetral position for our arm so its not inwards.

For single arm club, once I get to 20 sets of 5/5 should I progress toward 10 sets of 10/10 or move up in weight?
10 sets of 10/10
16 sets of 6/6
14 sets of 7/7
12 sets of 8/8
11 sets of 9/9
10 sets of 10/10
