Do you have a pro-grade microphone that can handle high SPL (Such as a XLR-Dynamic microphone, a 'Zoom' recorder, or a RadioShack SPL Meter) and a fire alarm model I do not have an audio clip of? If you'd like to help by contributing to the collection, message me for more details!
In 7th and 8th grade, the school I went to had these alarms. And I’m not kidding when I say you can hear these alarms a mile away from the school.
ikr
My school has math class in the library and there is a SpectrAlert Advance in there, which sounds very loud in the room. One time during a surprise fire drill, the Advance went off while we were working on homework, causing the whole math class to start panicking.
is it on high volume? they should turn it down to low volume
@@erikmorozov1740 It was on high volume. I doubt the school would change the volume due to the age of the building and the risk of asbestos in the walls.
That sound may soon become the Wilhelm Scream of the fire alarm world!
Well, SpectrAlert Advances are already taking over the fire alarm market. I often see older, rarer fire alarms get replaced with them.
Actually these alarms are very common which I am really bummed about because of the painful volume
@@boydalexander4652, yeah, while older electrometer fire alarm horns are usually much louder (especially AC-volt horns), the Advances are still pretty loud. I find them to be just as loud as the Wheelock AS and the Simplex TrueAlert (specifically the conventional multi-candela horn/strobe models).
But the positive thing about these alarms is that is going to encourage people to evacuate when the fire alarm goes off and it will save their life.
@@boydalexander4652 All fire alarm horn/strobes are like that. It seems the louder they are, the better (as is the case of the SpectrAlert Advance, the TrueAlert and the Wheelock AS).
With this fire alarm sound people are going to be more likely to take fire alarms very seriously and take action when an alarm sounds in a building and it’s going to save their lives
That pic is of a spectrAlert speaker strobe but I like this clip
Miss Madson: "This is what the L Series Horn Strobes sound like."
My Elementary school used these. IT HURT. When I heard it down the hall, I'd react and cover my ears. I think they put it in high volume. I wish it was low.
Adurite Games they are actually bad on low
My advice is to wear earplugs. The apartment complex I live in has these alarms, and they're loud enough to wake the dead. At first when they go off, I mistake it for a cricket chirping and then seconds later, the alarms go off, thus prompting me to drop what I'm doing and evacuate. I know because during the first four months I was at my apartment in 2017, they were cooking something in the community room and it burned or something, causing the alarms to go off. I was already in my pajamas, had to put my coat on and left the building. Well, they did allow us back in despite the alarms still sounding. I'm glad I wear earplugs 24/7 because these puppies can make your ears bleed.
A special tone for the Spectralert Advance SPSR, and SPWR.
What is a SPWR
its a spsw not spwr
I like the part with the fire alarm
Would be cool if the spectralert advance speaker strobe sounded like that
I’m just thankful that this is not the fire alarm that’s in my school even though the fire alarm in my school still pretty loud but not as bad as this one.
this one can actually give you headaches
@@augustluau it does I don’t want to think about what would have happened if I attended a school with these fire alarms and heard them during fire drills. Even Edwards EST products still give me anxiety going off during fire drills.
It’s the one in my high school, middle school, AND used to be in my elementary school (they swapped it with voice evac thankfully)
I REMEMBER THIS CODE 3 HORN! I'T HURTS MY EARS SO MUCH!!!!
They have these kind of fire alarms in my apartment complex! OUCH!
Mariofan121 yea I bet I would be deaf by them
DeadRaymanWalking I would not like to live in that apartment complex
Well, when the alarms went off that time, I'm kind of glad I was wearing earplugs because of the loudness of these sort of alarms.
They actually aren't loud
You know this alarm is common especially in almost all schools in Florida (In my opinion)
@JaxonBloxx HD Just wait in five years; the L-series will become as common as its' predecessors, if not more common!
So right.
Somewhat thing here
So are the simplex truealerts
@Hayley Gilbert ok and?
That is a spectralert advance speaker/strobe
I wouldn’t be surprised if my school had these suckers installed these alarms are even showing up all over my area but the schools still use Edwards EST anywhere that doesn’t use simplex or Edwards EST in my area they will go for system sensor or Wheelock
System sensor Spectralert advances is my favorite fire alarms
I'm surprised some sound editor hasn't recorded a SpectrAlert Advance going off and made it into an overused sound effect in the media yet (like the Wilhelm Scream, or those Hollywood Edge "Premiere Edition" effects!)
They're too busy using generic fire alarm sound effects that aren't even authentic sounding ;)
That's for sure. In many cases they just use school bells, despite very few places in America using bells as fire alarms nowadays (many have been replaced with horn/strobes or voice-evac.) Heck, on "The Simpsons," at Springfield Elementary they just use their school bell as their fire alarm, which is VERY unrealistic.
@@AudioTestsNReviews hey Ray. Do more fire alarm sounds please. Lol
This horn is the worst horn that you can ever put in an emergency notification device which includes a fire alarm.
I agree, at least it isn’t continuous. This fire alarm sound single-handedly gave me a fear of going to the school bathrooms until I went to high school at 15, and every bathroom only had remote strobes. It also gave me an ongoing fear of fire alarm systems in indoor pool areas, which the pool in the gym near me does not have any fire alarms whatsoever, only two alarm in the gym’s male and female toilet areas and one in the front desk. I think that’s very illegal, but I don’t care, better than this thing. However, the gym near the place my sister swims at, which I go to every weekday does have two fire alarms at each end and a third one near the shower and I never heard the tone which makes it even worse of a fear, and one time my mother almost accidentally pulled the fire alarm by standing near me, but thankfully it was a close call, if she did pull it I don’t know what would have happened next.
The alarm in the picture is a Spectralert Advance speaker strobe.
Mention number 6 ;o
I hate this sound with a passion, extremely loud alarm, but hey. It sure does the job. It easily convinces people to get out of the building with it's deafening tone
Yeah we need alarms to be loud so we can get out of the building safely and a fire emergency but not this loud a lot of fire alarms are loud enough to do the job so why do you have to have these things
@@boydalexander4652my high school has the same alarm sound outside that’s loud.
This is the exact one t my school and scares the heck out of me and yes, that is the specter Alert advance love sound effect
This is one of the loudest fire alarms ever made!
It's probably the loudest
Terp Fan yes and I am very thankful that my school doesn’t have these alarms. And if it did then every time their is a fire drill I will have to cover my ears when leaving the building because those things are so loud and I have autism and that means I have sensory issues and one of them is loud noises like fire alarms and especially spectra alert advanced alarms because those are so loud.
@@boydalexander4652 and I have perfect pitch so I hate loud noises, especially that
No, you can find this tone and use it for the speaker strobe from an app on a phone, tablet, iPhone, or iPad.
The Wheelock NS is louder
my school has this fire alarm and when we have a fire drill you could hear it a mile away
Thank goodness my school doesn’t have this alarm
That picture is an outdoor System Sensor SPSW.
Mention number 12 ;))
I have two different types of SpectAlerts in my school, as I know of.
We have mostly SpectAlert Classics, but in most of the elective classes we have Advances. Since I go outside before the alarms go off (I have problems, don't ask), I don't really get to hear the alarms very good, but holy shit, this sounds loud as fuck. I'm so glad I go outside before any drill starts.
SpectrAlert*
I used to go outside before the alarms as well, just at my elementary school, I don’t think I had a choice through middle, junior, and high school (Currently in my 9th grade year), however I did have spectralert classics at my elementary school, gentex commander 1s at my middle school, Edwards Integrity’s at my junior high school, and all of the above except for the Integrity at my high school, which also has advances and a bunch of loud old simplex and possibly Faraday horns
I like your vids! :) all that shift
That picture is a speaker strobe not a horn strobe. Just an FYI
Mention number 14 ;)
My dream alarm
Who would win?
Your ears or a freakin fire alarm

fire
Hey, just to let you know, that is a speaker/strobe.
***** That's what I meant
SauberC9Fan2000 VGCP No, the picture is a Speaker/Strobe
It's funny how the sound is a horn but the image is a speaker/strobe not a horn/strobe

Nostalgia.
At my elem. School, they put those alarms in every classroom, but in high volume.
DeadSpectre 704 are u deaf now

Cool! My school has these and a fire lite bg12 goes with it! On Wed. 12/13/17 a 1st grader pulled the fire alarm at my school!!! Im in 3rd grade
You are fricking kidding me. Oh my god...
Your in 3rd grade and typing that comment lol
That is the SPEAKER STROBE PICTURE not the plain ol HORN STROBE
Mention number 10 ;)
Can you upload an audio clip of the EST Genesis Code 3 Horn?
The Spectralert Advanced sounds like an alarm clock
to my opinion it kind of does sound like an alarm clock but my alarm clock is on march time
I agree but there LOUD
agree. When we had a fire drill sooner or later they increased it's volume up by 20 times louder
The Spencs Music Covers so it's the classics that sound like a farting sound
Guaranteed to wake you up!
This is the sound of my school fire alarm
My apartment complex have these fire alarms. They're loud enough to wake the dead. One time when they went off one evening in mid December of 2017 (nearly four or five months since moving to the apartment), someone in the community room was cooking something, and it overcooked, causing it to smoke, and as such, it triggered the fire alarm. When I heard it go off, I thought it was a cricket chirping, but when it went into the Code 3 like what you're hearing in the video, I was all, "Uh oh, that's the fire alarm, I gotta get out!" So I headed out with my purse, cellphone, and apartment keys, all while in my pajamas (as it was around 7:40ish at night). As I was reaching the evacuation meeting point, a guy told tenants that they could go back in, but the alarm was still sounding.
Yep, my college had these alarms in some of the buildings. My first elementary (now K-8) school also had them installed after their old Simplex 4208 system began failing and had to be replaced. In both instances, the Advances replaced Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights.
I have these suckers in my apartment complex building. Good thing I wear earplugs because these things are LOUD.
Actually, I was at a summer camp which had these inside and out, and they went off this morning, they aren't even that loud..I didn't even cover my ears and it didn't even scare me
It depends on the room's acoustics and what volume they're set to. Were you in a large room?
Fahrenheit4051 yeah i was in a jr. high music room (almost like a classroom but with a very high ceiling, and there was only 1 alarm which was a ceiling mount.)
@@nashbros3913 That'll do it. Large rooms will make alarms seem quiet, and bonus points for carpeted floors.
Fahrenheit4051 thanks for telling me, no wonder. Everyones like “they’re so loud” but i never had seen a problem with it
They are probably low volume
this is the fire alarm from School L’Avenir. Which apparently is my school
It so cool
I believe that sounds the same audio from roblox
OH MY GOSH!!! ITS KILLING ME
i remember these P2Rs going off without any earplugs or anything, it was so loud!
edit: was the SpectrAlert louder than the TrueAlert?
The conventional multi-candela TrueAlert horn/strobes (like the 4906-9127) are just as loud as Advances. The fixed-candela models, not as much.
@@ZakWolf I understand, I haven't seen a TrueAlert go off yet, but I was near one when a SpectrAlert went off in a department store.

This is a speaker strobe set on it's special tone, the Spectralert Advance P2R Horn Tone.
Incorrect, there was supposed to be an image of the Horn Strobe, but a picture of a Speaker Strobe was used instead.
@@AudioTestsNReviews Incorrect, it's a special tone for the speaker tone.
@@princesstwilightsparkle1302 Are you trying to say this can't be the sound of the actual Spectralert Advance Horn?

@@princesstwilightsparkle1302 there is not a horn tone for the speaker
My advances at school look a little skinnier than that wide one
Yeah, I used the picture of the speaker strobe, not of the horn strobe which should've been used
My school has PRs everywhere and some P2Rs.
BG-12 LX (yes the system is addressable)
Jonhson Controls strange smokes and heat detectors
MASSIVE Johnson Controls version of a Notifier NFS-320
(Fail! The alarms are P4Rs!)
One building at my college has a system just like that, but with Wheelock Exceders. We do have some systems with Advances though (mostly Notifier, but one of them is a Fire-Lite MS-9600UDLS.
u wonder what the strobe light would look like if u took glass cover off.. probably just a bunch of metal plates and a little light
The same type of light as a camera flask

Yikes imagine waking up to that every day
Yep absolutely this fire alarm sounds like an alarm clock that you put on your bedside table
Theirs some at invest ottawa so that's what sound they would sound like
That's a AV
This is the one in my school
Wait i have this alarm at my school but on here why is it gray is it supost to be red it was makeing the same sound and the alarm thing the coler was re on here its gray?!?!?!?
There's variants of some alarm devices that are white or gray when they are used for general signaling purposes (ie. non-fire related), while the red versions are for fire-related emergencies; an example of this can be a gray Edwards Adaptahorn being used to indicate a water leak at a workplace.
so I have one of these next to my desk and it's quiet and it's on high volume weird iccan litterly put my ear next to it or maybe I'm deaf rip my ears it probably made them deaf
@Emin rich tube Tube Spectr*
My apartment complex has these mofos. It's a good thing I wear earplugs 24-7 because I have sensitive ears (I have autism). If these went off and didn't have the proper hearing protection, my ears would've been bleeding. Ouch!

Dude make a Audio clip sound from a weelcock as are my fave Est Genisednd how ever you spell it
Wheelock AS* EST Genesis*.
I would add more clips like this, but the only problem is that I can't find any more high quality audio clips of fire alarms around the internet.
Anyone is welcome to contribute with either findings of original sound clips of these alarms, or personal recordings using a *high quality* microphone (I can however assist people if they help getting HQ recordings).
With this video series, I don't accept samples of medium-low audio quality.
AudioTestsNReviews Hey can you do a sound clip of a Wheelock NS on Code 3?
I do the clips as long as I can find high quality audio for the fire alarms. Either I'd like to get a hold of a copy of an original official tone clip, or someone who own's the specific fire alarms and a strictly high quality microphone.
Anyone with a qualifying microphone+fire alarm can feel free to contact me with the appropriate information such as microphone model, and I'll give the needed instructions in order to capture and send me the recording(s).
