- This is a series of explorations with my friend Dave Ford who has agreed to take me around the Jurassic Coastline in the smashing country of Dorset.
In our first video we set of from the tiny village of Worth Matravers down to the amazing Winspit Quarry, worked throughout history and used as a film and TV location in more recent times.

I loved that. The Isle of Purbeck is one of my favourite holiday destinations.
It is definitely a fab place to visit.
Great video - I love the isle of Purbeck... what a fascinating and amazing quarry! I can see why the sci fi series of the past liked to go there!
Yes, an easy location for the TV world!
I discovered this place completely by accident July 2018 on a hike along the coast path on my last day. Having reached Dancing Ledge, & spotting my next my 'target' in the distance, I was pleasantly surprised by what I'd found there 😊 The nearby artillery range were active at the time so I stopped off at the small but delightful Square & Compass pub to 'refuel' before walking back to Swanage.
It is an amazing part of the world to explore.
A fantastic video thank you to Dave and Logan and yourself Richard. You take us to so many interesting places, and lovely sights to see.
There are so many places in the lovely country to explore and see.
Such a smashing bit of Blighty.
The Worth Matravers tearoom is delightful.
The church is also smashing.
Yes indeed - I was fascinated by the whole place.
thank you, Dave! and Logan!!!
what an amazing place!!!
thank you for all you do, Richard!!!
I am so pleased you enjoy the videos!
Yep great walk done it a number of times when staying in Studland village love Dorset it's great.
Wow! What a beautiful view. How fun would that be to walk that coast?!!!!!
Lovely coastline around there, looking forward to these videos. Thinking of taking the kids down that way in the summer
Well worth the visit - so many places to see. :)
Lovely stone village ! Applecake seems nice, another brilliant tour ! Some of that scenery with the dry stone walls is really similar to the Peak District !
The apple cake was delicious. I love the dry stone walls.
Lovely video. I'm watching this after seeing it on Star Wars Andor. I'm quite proud to see a part of my Dorset in a galaxy far, far away.
WOW!!! Incredible! Spectacular! That what so neat (the double cave entrance looked like it could have been Fred Flinstone's garage)!!! I agree w/ Dave as it looked the perfect place to explore. Amazing how it was right on the coast line like that too! And such an amazingly perfect day for this walk - the weather looked perfect! I do hope you go back & do a proper tour of Dorset though. That little stone village w/ the pond was just idealistic!!!👍👏🤝
There is a set of these videos so keep watching! :)
@@RichardVobes you know I will!
😊 Thank you for taking us into the caves... if I was to visit, I know I wouldn't be brave enough to go in them! 😜
Oh they were easy to get in! You would be fine!
Wow, a magical place, I could imagine the quiet cold you were experiencing...very nice.
It is a wonderful place - thanks so much for watching!
Fantastic, thank you so much, loved this video. Know the area well. This is England 🏴🙏🏻❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow that has to be one of the best kept secrets in the UK never seen or heard of that place before , thanks Richard , Dave is an awesome guide love watching him in the vids 👏👏👏
It is amazing! Dave is fab too. Thanks so much for the comments.
Great and interesting video. I must go one day..
Oh you must! (Need to add some date sin the diary for some more walks in your area!)
@@RichardVobes I look forward to it Richard. I got some very interesting places in mind.
Enjoy Cornwall and Cumbria.
I will be in touch on my return!
Love the thought of puffins having a lie in. Made me smile. Nice film and so interesting
Another very good video Richard, good having Dave along, look forward to the next one. Robert, NZ
Cheers Robert - Dave is full of facts !
Wow that place looks great, evey place down there has its own intresting features! I'm looking forward to more of these western videos.
Well done great video 👍
So pleased you like them, George.
Awesome video 👍🏻
Thank you
Spectacular! I've got to go and find those caves. I'm surprised Marq English hadn't set up a studio there... Fabulous scenery and weather.
An amazing place indeed.
Yes,that bit at the end there! If Davros instead of being set on Universal domination, had become a dermatologist! Would his Dalek nursing assistants have wizzed around the wards shouting,Exfoliate-Exfoliate?? Just a thought!!
Hahahahhaha - what does one say to that! :)
I first visited Worth Matravers in 1982 on a Geography A level field trip, met a girl whose parents once owned Winspit Cottage. As children they stayed there for summer holidays of Famous Five type adventures. Sadly never met her again... :-(
Another great vid Richard, regards Pete.
Thanks so much
My great granddad owned Winspit Quarry.
His name was Robert John Harris, also known as Bob by the quarry workers.
Wow - what a fabulous connection.
ah wow i didnt know you had been here also. i went back in september to do a photoshoot (videos on my channel) its one amazing location i need to return to explore some more. and we found the bat cave thats hidden away and barred off so people cant go in but we could see them flying around in there
The terraces on the hillside are known as strip lynchets. They are formed as soil slips down the hill after being disturbed by the plough over a period of time. They can be Celtic or Medieval.
Ah yes - that is a term I have read about some years ago - thanks so much for reminding me.
A cathedral!
It sure it!
Im going there next week. I wonder if you can direct me which path you take from Worth Mathravers please. Thank you very much
Is there another Behind the Scenes due out today
I have stopped doing them temporarily I am afraid, but interest is there will continue.
Real shame they gone without notice.all the best
I suspect they will return without notice too!
