I chanced to go across this Island in 2009 while traveling throughout the Philippines. There is something about this particular place that you never forget. Good things that make you want to go back. I'm trying to talk my Filipino wife into living there for a while or longer, but she is superstitious about "witches of Iloilo" (whatever that is)

OMG...you finally made it into our home islands Tom. I grew up in Iloilo just keep looking at thay Guimaras island for 20yrs. of my life there. I finally made it to Guimaras after my parents passed away..and yes my family went to Ramen/ Alubihud resort. You missed the boat and island hopping there. Awesome view of small islets and caves. I found fossils of animals, sea créatures, and plants on top of the roof of a cave. Locals does not know how it got there. Our islands must have been submerged millions of years ago. Thank you for your visit to our islands....Ilonggo here in Chicago..
I was in Guimaras on a day trip from Iloilo over a decade ago. I didn't see as much as you did. It looks just as lovely as then. It's also a bit more developed now, with those wind turbines! Cheers.
I grew up in Iloilo, just watching Guimaras island for 25 years. Fort San Pedro is a nice view and a lover's lane to watch Guimaras island. I finally went to this island after 45 years. Thanks for your adventure in our country Tom..

Try to visit Amazing view mountain resort in Mabitac, Laguna Tom...my family resort but if you want to go back to Iloilo try visit Gigantes island and my unknown town, San Rafael, Iloilo. Mountainous and peaceful, quiet place.

Built in 1880, the Navalas Church is the oldest roman catholic church and the only existing heritage church in the Island of Guimaras . The architecture of this quaint church is reminiscent of the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo, which is due to Guimaras being a vista of Jaro during the Spanish period.

c1n07n451jn3d - That would definitely support the economic development of the province. Are these developments just speculation or have they released information about this bridge? Although the islands are close together there is at least 1 kilometre between them - A bridge joining these two places would be a massive engineering feat.

Hey Tom, just watched your Guimaras video and want to say your drone shots, commentary and places you visited were really fun to watch. I live in Brisbane Australia but have some family and land of my own on Guimaras. In fact, I was there last Oct with some Scottish mates. Thank you so much for the vid and awesome drone shots, you did a brilliant job at promoting Guimaras and bring back some happy memories. There's heaps to see on Guimaras, If you head back make sure you visit the waterfalls not far from alubihod beach, there's a turtle and fish sanctuary off the coast of Alubihod beach and also an awesome cave a boat can travel into. There's also some caves near Buena Vista and heaps of other lovely beaches and places on the island and off the Alubihod coast. Cheers again, Isaac!

I live towards Byron Bay (so not too far from Brisbane). Guimaras is certainly an amazing place and one of the highlights of my recent Philippines trip - My only regret is not staying longer! After my visit I heard about the waterfalls and turtle sanctuary - They're totally on my list for my next trip haha. Omg I love that place!! I went there in '06 as a hs grad gift cuz I love mangoes lol. Well, I ❤ the Philippines in general. I remember riding a motorcycle then climbed up to a mountain that lead to a remote beach. I heard the island is more touristy now. Can't wait to go back this April for more mangoes 😁😁
No.. we had the whole place for ourselves and just rented a small hut on top of the hill. But I get there with my office mates and we are about 15 people. We walked outside the Guisi lighthouse area and enjoy the beach for free.
I hope you get to visit Antique province which is home of the cleanest & clearest rivers in the country. You get to explore water falls and beautiful mountains too and some unique experience that you will only experience in Antique like the Kawa bath. But on your way there, you can visit Garin Farm too.
Attraction you can see in Garin Farm are the Stairway to Heaven where in you climb the mountain and on top would be a dark tunnel that resembles "Purgatory" and will end up to all white "heaven like place" at the end of the tunnel where in you can see sculptures of angels singing and the holy trinity. The best time to be there would be noon so that the reflections of the sun will reflect on the white paints on the area.

Wishful thinking and I wish that too. But in reality, we're not a wealthy country to build such a huge infrastructure.

Hey Tom, just watched your Guimaras video and want to say your drone shots, commentary and places you visited were really fun to watch. I live in Brisbane Australia but have some family and land of my own on Guimaras. In fact, I was there last Oct with some Scottish mates. Thank you so much for the vid and awesome drone shots, you did a brilliant job at promoting Guimaras and bring back some happy memories.
There's heaps to see on Guimaras, If you head back make sure you visit the waterfalls not far from alubihod beach, there's a turtle and fish sanctuary off the coast of Alubihod beach and also an awesome cave a boat can travel into. There's also some caves near Buena Vista and heaps of other lovely beaches and places on the island and off the Alubihod coast.

I live towards Byron Bay (so not too far from Brisbane). Guimaras is certainly an amazing place and one of the highlights of my recent Philippines trip - My only regret is not staying longer!
After my visit I heard about the waterfalls and turtle sanctuary - They're totally on my list for my next trip haha. I've also heard about the island hopping tours off the coast of the island - They sound epic!

Omg I love that place!! I went there in '06 as a hs grad gift cuz I love mangoes lol. Well, I ❤ the Philippines in general. I remember riding a motorcycle then climbed up to a mountain that lead to a remote beach. I heard the island is more touristy now. Can't wait to go back this April for more mangoes 😁😁

I did climbed the old Guisi lighthouse too.
Was it very busy when you visited?
No.. we had the whole place for ourselves and just rented a small hut on top of the hill. But I get there with my office mates and we are about 15 people. We walked outside the Guisi lighthouse area and enjoy the beach for free.
I hope you get to visit Antique province which is home of the cleanest & clearest rivers in the country. You get to explore water falls and beautiful mountains too and some unique experience that you will only experience in Antique like the Kawa bath. But on your way there, you can visit Garin Farm too.
Aia Villareal - Sounds absolutely unreal!
Attraction you can see in Garin Farm are the Stairway to Heaven where in you climb the mountain and on top would be a dark tunnel that resembles "Purgatory" and will end up to all white "heaven like place" at the end of the tunnel where in you can see sculptures of angels singing and the holy trinity. The best time to be there would be noon so that the reflections of the sun will reflect on the white paints on the area.

Tom Papworth I agree! I grew up in Guimaras Island . Guimaras isn’t all about mangoes, but is also rich in agricultural diversity as well as a sanctum of gracious locals. It instantly gained a special place in my heart. I’m glad I’ve found your channel . Would love to watch more of your adventures. :) So what’s your favorite tourists spot in Guimaras?
Island Girl - Totally agree. The Guisi Lighthouse was definitely a highlight for me. The amazing view, the pristine water, and the fascinating history - That place ticked a lot of boxes and I had it all to myself.
