    Oh man, what a story. My folks were the same, you had to get rid of the other system to get a new one. And sometimes it was a wait afterwards as well. Selling your childhood anything is so heartbreaking. I love stories like these so much, it shows how much we have in common

      Yes! It’s nice to connect with people you couldn’t at the time, but now you know your situation wasn’t as lonely as you may have thought. Tbh, my goal with making these vids is so that, when I’m gone, my kid has something he can look back on and hear my stories whenever he wants (if he wants).

    You couldn't have describe the Demo disc any better. Maaaaaan those use to be dope. They were so cool to get, outta of GamePro magazines or Pizza Hut. You brought up Metal Gear Solid on demo which I feel we all played for the first time. Another game was GameDay 98. I played that over and over and watched the intro video over and over.
    The story you told about Warzone was relatable too. Similiar to whe. I got WWF Know your role in the 2000s. I brought that game anywhere somebody had a Playstation.

    I got my n64 for Christmas of 99 and a PS2 for Christmas of 01 so I was living the best of both worlds.
    Also, Monster Rancher is a great game to just chill with.

    I had an N64 Growing up but later was gifted my cousin's Playstation. The many hours spend playing games like Spyro, THPS, and Crash were absolutely great. Also those old wrestling games were very Jankie but as a kid they're just fun.

    I can say looking back, you made the right choice with the PS1 over the N64. The only enjoyment I mostly got out of my N64 back then were from the AKI wrasslin games. It wasn’t until I traded my N64 for a PS1 with some kid in school that I learned what Video games would eventually be and it blew my mind. And that game was Metal Gear Solid. PS1 was the boy.

      Yeah, the N64 has some incredible games and great experiences, but when it comes to variety, PS has the the goods. MGS on it’s own is enough to tilt me to the PS side, but it’s got hit after hit. Can’t wait to put together my top 10 list.
      Thanks for the comment!

    Im always so surprised at how low the N64 sold I felt EVERY single person I ran into had one. Also the cultural relevance of the console. Do agree with that controller though. Couldn't stand it even as a kid playing Goldeneye.
    I had both, but I played PS1 more. Just so much variety of games. Even all of the third party games were way better on playstation. That's why I associate stuff like Gex and Rayman with Playstation.

      @LexMarston  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, that is a pretty big anomaly that I’ve thought about many times before. There was definitely a stretch where there seemed to be a lot more N64’s in households than PS. I think that probably changed right around the time I got my PS and we had the DualShock controllers, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7, and on. Sports games probably drove a lot of those PS sales, too. I remember my friends that had N64’s and were sports fans were always pretty miserable with the N64 offerings, if not for anything more than the controller they had to use lol

      @@LexMarston it's because the PS1 came out 2 years before n64 and the n64 discontinued before PS1 PS1 didn't discontinue until about 04 even though PS2 was out two you got to put that in account to

      I also feel n64 had more replay value then PS1 by far

    • @LexMarston
      @LexMarston  2 года назад +1

      It all depends on what kinds of games you were into. N64 had some really good party games, but when it came to RPGs, PS1 blew N64 away. They both had their strengths and weaknesses, for sure.

      @@LexMarston true there were some things I liked better about PS1 than the 64 me and my older brother had both we had just as much fun playing both n64 definitely lacked rpgs but 64s wrestling games were way better than ps1 fighting games were about even PS1 definitely had better sports games

    Atari 2600 is where my gaming experience started, and then Intellivision and stopped gaming when the crash was in full effect, 1984. 5 years later I got the NES. In 1991 I bought the Genesis and then the PS. I never liked the Nintendo systems.

    Wasn't it hard playing the PS knowing that the PS2 was out?

    I hated the psp. Tiny screen and you couldn't see a thing in sunlight.
