I don't really work with plants/herbs either and I do know why. I have salicylate food intolerance which means ALL herbs and spices give me migraines and increase my inflammation and make my chronic illness issues worse, and some vegetables and fruits too. So I have ZERO desire to do any plant/herbal work in any form because I can't ingest herbal remedies without terrible symptoms. Plus, I also have a black thumb and cannot keep plants alive. I will say that I seriously struggled to work with the Herbcrafter's Tarot until I saw Marlena Theresa's video on deck families (or something like that, mayne sister decks?) and she paired the Gaian Tarot by the same creator with the Herbcrafter's. That was MINDBLOWING for me!! I don't typically pair Tarot with Tarot, but pairing these two together opened up BOTH decks so amazingly!! I have them paired together permanently in my collection.
I paused the video and ordered the Endless Oracle! It immediately struck me and I have to try it. And I don't normally like many oracles. I'll even overlook the unicorn :-)
Since the illustrations communicate with our subconscious it makes total sense to me that we all react different to the artwork. Some decks that for most seem more gentle have an opposite effect on me too - hello complex trauma response to calmness and such. And decks like the Somnia Tarot - oooh dear, yesss, I'm home! 😁 So those reactions alone are worth investigatin for me. Gotta love it. 💜 Thanks for making it through the 200x times of "does this make sense?" - it did. 😎
Hey Cody, this was fabulous and definitely made sense to me. Your laugh is totally contagious. Love it. I really like how you talk about what’s personal and subjective and it really rings true especially when you described The Gentle Tarot. I also think sometimes I make things more complicated than they need to be, but I fucking love a challenge, a puzzle, a mystery. I also need to name what I’m doing. It might not be anything new or whatever, but naming it makes it real for me. Thanks so much for the VR. ❤😊
finished now - great funny video! I also think the Somnia is very serious. I use it for when I had a dream that seems to want to tell me an important message but I'm so confused because of that dream, that I need help doing the "dream-autopsy and message extraction", or for readings where I need a certain distance to see more clearly, even the details (sounds paradox maybe....). That's why I'm glad it has borders too, that way I'm not "inside the scene" but looking through a screen or a kind of window or telescope.
lol, the gentle tarot as an attack that jumps out and grabs your face. I love it. I can get that for speaking to emotional turmoil or suppressed stuff or whatever right. Still, the description legit had me cackling. I think I kinda stack stuff but different to both of what you described lol. Although perhaps it’s just a spectrum of nuances cause mines not like super diff either. I agree, decks are so subjective experientially. Anyways, I needed to hear your laughter and some deck chats, so this was a ball as far as I’m concerned 😂🔥 Oh, and while I will read in anything with somnia, I do find the tone of how I read it to be quite serious, or quite kind of intense.
Loved this video! Though your taste in decks is somewhat different from mine, your ways of approaching decks resonates with me. Thanks for the insights. And the laughs.
"If the systems' fuckin stupid, I ignore it." Mike drop. 😂 You gotta admit, Marlena used some really PRETTY cards. Onionskin learning is key in tarot learning. We all do it a little at a time. Your brain only absorbs so much before it rejects ANY MORE WORDS. You've hit on a key situation. I feel like a lot of people make things harder than they needed to be. If there's one key aspect of Marlena's stacking practice that I find useful to anyone...it is getting the decks out and trying a little taste. If you know your collection ( one deck grabs me by the face, this deck doesn't want to hear stupid shit, this one demands that I check out a bible, or Shakespeare, or the fucking Odyssey) it is easier for you to use your collection for different shit. I know you've been reading for decades, but some of these decks are asking a lot from the tarot reader. We love the torture, thank you and good night. ❤️🩹🤕
It's so interesting, for me The Ritual Tarot is the easiest reader. It's almost like the symbolism goes straight to my brain. Anyhoo, very funny and insightful vid as usual. :)
Putting the Mary-el and the gentle tarot in the same category is wild 😂
🤣

I'm with you on the Somnia Tarot. I approach with respect and gravity.

SUCH a good vid, Cody. It all made perfect sense to me!!!
First time watching and I loved it! I really feel you on the face grab aspect of some decks 😂
Loved it! ❤

I love loose interpretation decks depending on what day of the week it is
F Jeff Bezos lol I’ve been getting used crap too, like open decks and whatnot. Gotta stop putting his kids through college with my paycheck
