- For the past 9 months or so I've been experimenting with the communal viability of my Ghost Mantids. I wanted to summarise what i learned during this time and have a chat about what i discovered and give my opinion on whether this species is one that can be housed together or if it should be avoided.
Species Featured:
Phyllocrania paradoxa

Really enjoyed this, and great to see the channel growing. Lovely footage and really enjoy your commentary. Keep at it!
Thanks for the kind words dude! I'd love to make more if i had the time!
I'm not convinced that they are actually communal. I think their initial tolerance to one another is an evolutionary mechanism to stop them wiping themselves out if they're confined to a smaller area in the early stages of their lives. By the time they're preying on each other, they would have already separated in the wild. That's what I think anyway :D
In your original video you were worried about them eating all the isopods, how did that go? Really helpful btw, thanks!
love Ghost mantids, ive never managed to get or make one go green or a sandy colour for that matter. The one i have now is a reddish brown
Its so weird, i'd love to know what it is that determines the colours! She just changed within 1 moult pretty much
waaa So beautiful your Ghost Mantis,I love this mantis and Giant Dead Leaf Mantis:).But I only have that Giant Dead Leaf Mantis hehe, I haven't bought Ghost Mantis yet because it's out of stock and expensive. Btw I'm Malaysian.
Great choice, Giant Dead Leaf has been one of my favourites to keep!
@@Wade_Wiley oooo NICEE
Good job matey. Mahalo for sharing. Aloha
Great info
Where did you get those twigs from?
Hi I have 2 female ghost mantis that really need a male, do you have one? Ile pay for it and send you some of the babies if you do, ive been looking everywhere with no luck, hope to hear back soon 😊
Please make your Deroplatys dessicata video feeding:)
I'd love to but it might be a while as he was recently given to a friend to pair! The ooth has been laid though so i'm hoping to get a nymph or 2 out of it as its one of my favourites so far for sure!
@@Wade_Wiley wow your breed the mantis?? I really want D.dessicata's child, but the female is too expensive for me to buy it. Later, can you make a video of your D.dessicata's child hatching, right ?? hehe
@@mohamadfadlichannel3019 Hopefully I will be able to! The ooth is with a friend at the moment as they owned the female but will certainly try and get them to send me the nymphs emerging!
