whenever a kpop idol posts a vlog from hawaii, it's almost always on oahu, where i live. so i like to timestamp the locations in a comment like a tour guide, in case you ever come:

0:44 they're walking through the lobby at the sheraton waikiki beach resort, where they were staying. behind joyuri is this neat bronze statue of sea turtles. my senior prom was held there so i have photos of myself in a goldenrod (yes, goldenrod) suit in that lobby lol
1:10 tbh, i recommend being on high alert here. the sheraton shares driveway access with the royal hawaiian hotel, and that area gets really mixed up with cars turning around. there are a lot of foreign taxi drivers, tourists, and uber drivers zipping in and out of there, and they aren't exactly careful. i wouldn't be carrying a camera around, i'd be watching alertly
1:34 the steakhouse is at royal hawaiian center (inside the royal hawaiian hotel) so it's a very short walk. i tend to avoid places like that because i can get good food much cheaper elsewhere in town. but for people who don't want to explore or just want something close by, it is a good place
2:09 waikiki has 3 main roads running parallel. kalakaua ave is where the sheraton and royal hawaiian are. this shot is them walking south on kuhio ave, the middle of the three main roads. you'll find the international marketplace and some smaller but equally expensive shops, restaurants and bars. there are a lot of popular restaurants and a couple nightclubs in this area. but for many reasons i do not recommend being out on the sidewalk after 9 or 10pm
3:01 waikiki beach is very long, about two miles long, so to make it easier for locals and emergency services to locate specific parts of the beach more accurately, the entire beach is split into sections, each with a different name. this particular area is called Kuhio (named after the son of hawaii's last king) 3:38 and there are lots of walkways between the hotels and restaurants that provide access to the beach. when i was younger i frequently finding lost wallets in these access ways. people, hold on to your wallets!

6:31 getting an ocean view room sure is nice, especially at night! but beware, it's usually much more expensive, and especially at the sheraton, when there's a ball or festival going on (which is often) the ocean view rooms on this wing of the hotel are kept up all night because it's loud (the party area is just below)
8:47 but when you get the ocean view rooms, THIS is what you get!
9:39 waikiki has so many good places to eat (and there are countless more just outside of waikiki and beyond) that there really is no need to visit the same place twice. though, i get the impression from her two hawaii vlogs they weren't interested in traveling very far. and that's okay too.
10:52 i've had the sliders and truffle fries combo with the house salad. it was a little over $30, but that was pre-pandemic. i haven't been there since. it's probably more now!
11:15 rumfire is a restaurant/bar at their hotel. it's a pretty good spot, but if you're there on a friday or saturday, be gone before 930pm. it starts to get crazy with the nightclub crowd.

12:57 when booking a touring activity of any kind, ask about their refund and notification policy before agreeing to or paying anything. it's nice this company notifies customers, not all of them do that. but almost all of them give full refunds.
13:46 i don't know what it's called where you're from, but in america "sad sunday" is what's used to describe that regretful feeling of having to leave your vacation and go home!
14:04 Fruits of the Islands brand lychee sour belts are sold at the many ABC stores in waikiki, but i prefer the li hing strawberry belts from 7-eleven. honolulu cookie company, famous for their shortbread, has several locations in waikiki, all of them a short walk from the hotel. the chocolate dipped ones are their most popular. i like those and the pineapple ones.
