- My last maize paddocks being worked and roller drilled into permanent pasture.
I’ve never had a roller like that here before so it will be interesting to see what sort of job it does!

I’m Andrew The Once A Day Farmer, I farm alongside my father on my family dairy farm in New Zealand.
Our Dairy system is quite unique as we only milk our 320 jersey cows 'Once A Day' (hence the name) only in the morning, and they stay outside on grass for 365 days of the year!!

There’s something satisfying seeing straight lines and the colour of the earth turned over
💯👌
Sweet as Andrew, looking forward to seeing the grass and clover come up. The drone shots really show how beautiful your country is. I really hope I can get to visit some day. 👍🏼
One day 🤞
Love those high shots of the countryside Andrew fantastic
Great job Andrew 👏, let's hope the rain comes soon and get those seeds germinating. 👍
🤞
When did u say you were giving a tour of finch's machines . they have some fleet
20k subs but that looks like a long way off so might have to be sooner 🤷
@@TheOnceADayFarmer u never know..
Fantastic stuff Andrew!!!!!!!!
Nice kit they use and nice tractors - hope you get rain dreckly !
Must be great to have such a well equipped and professional local contractor
Yep pretty handy 👌
Nice vid i wish our soil was like that
Legion is an absolute banger. New mid/late perennial, with the clover companions you should see a whole lot of production here.
Yep goes real good 👌👍
Totally Agee with you Andrew with the grass seeder about having a bit more seeds spare .Farmers tend to be a bit tight with seeds and I like the seeder kit
Yep 100%!
Great video Andrew hopefully you will get some rain 👌
🤞
You're becoming a celebrity Andrew, seen your face in some advertising in the farming magazines
😂😅
Great videos i look forward to them
Thanks 🙏
We love our development aye mate always thinking to the future
Love to do heaps but it all comes with a cost 😂👍
No stones to pick ye so lucky 😁 Nice to c it when it's green 🌱🌱🌱🌱
It’s green but it’s dry 😩
That's great it green We send u down some rain if u give ous some of that dry weather ye got From wet Ireland 😂☔
Awesome, Legion, you seem to be happy with it, you've used it before haven't you.? I haven't yet, using Maxsyn for the 2nd time from Barenbrug. Got some Platform going good.
We also had a roller like that on me old family farm out in Matauri bay.
I'm still waiting for the drill, I hear they Abit behind schedule, stink, the paddocks are ready
I’ve used legion for a couple of years and really like it so stick to it. That’s sucks!
Ah yes my turnips and chicory were done with a Taege roller drill
Agree with the extra seed always need a bag or so more
nice looking is that finch contracting let me know if you would like a relif milker when im older i will do it
Yep it’s Finch’s 👍
Excellent job. can you share the name of the wheel rollers, thankyou from P.E.I. Canada
They were made by Teague here in NZ 👍
Tell us more about working at Finch's.
👍
Looks good Andrew how many acres you plant? Nice light warm rain would be nice next day or so. Have a great day
Probably about 15 acres all up but that one paddock was 2.4 👍
The power harrow we have on farm seeds the paddocks in one pass it's a slow job
Or there’s that option which works pretty well too, saves a pass 👍
Cambridge roller u call them
Hello
May I know what is your camera and which type of drone use?
Thank you
GoPro 10 and a mavic pro 2 👍
Being stingy with any seed is a faulse economy a tyre roller is what you need if you do get a renovator
Yep totally agree on both 👌👍
Nice equipment, but it does look dry!! How is your milk price right now??
Yep real dry! We’re not usually this dry this late into autumn so a bit worrying.
Milk price is the highest it’s ever been thankfully!
Andrew do you ever include chicory in your permanent pasture mix?
No not usually because it just makes it pretty challenging to spray for weeds then
Went to pgg for some seed, bloody sold out for a month the buggers
Supply chains are crazy for seed availability at the moment, it's the same here as Aus
Yep I heard they were having trouble sourcing it as the harvest down south wasn’t that good or are late harvesting or something along those lines
@@TheOnceADayFarmer its a combination of a few things here down south. A relatively mild summer with increased demands, increasing next seasons start up stock and the odd lower than expected seed harvests. Hasnt been ideal but it is what it is
how was the seed put on
Broadcast by air
Andrew is the chicory ground reseeded for winter
Yep it will be getting done shortly 👍
why endophyte resistant seed treatment?
Just tougher and supposed to last longer 👍
Any stones in your soils?
No not really it’s mainly ash and clay so pretty good 👍
