Lingtam, the first village in Sikkim:
Lingtam or Lingthem or Lingtum is the first village, located at an altitude of around 5000 feet above sea level. It is a small village with a check post and guarded by a small river called Bakhuter Khola (in Nepali language Khola means river).
Lingtam has two monasteries. The old monastery is located on the top of a hill at Agamlok Village around 7 km away from Lingtam and the new monastery is at Lingtam village which has a large meditation room.
It is very important to stay at this place for at least 1 day to adjust with the freezing high-altitude destinations of the Silk Route (around 12000 feet above sea level).
About permit:
For permit please carry 2 copies of passport size photograph, original and photo copy of voter card and 500 Indian rupees.
How to reach:
From NJP (New Jalpaiguri) railway station 🚂 take a car🚗 to reach Lingtam. This place is near about 117 km away from NJP. It will take around 4 hours to reach Lingtam from NJP.

Lingtam এ হয়েছিল। যে রুমটা দেখিয়েছিল সেটা আমাদের পছন্দ হয়নি। তারপর কথাবার্তা বলে চেঞ্জ করেছিলাম। আর Lungthung এ তো choice এর ব্যপার নেই। ওখানে যা পাওয়া গেছে সেটাই অনেক😊।
