Again....not taking anything away from these great flute players but it helps a ton if you have a flute that can do a lot of the work for you like a luxury car. I am a good flute player, If I can say so myself, and I've noticed that I've gone through a lot of flutes searching for a flute that is compatible for me and also has great depth in the tone area of all levels of the notes your play whether it be low, middle or high octive. Yes, your talent, skill and practice make for most of your presentation but an amazing flute helps a whole lot. I'm not going to pay $20,000 for a flute so I have to do things like get a great mouthpiece and utilize the LEFREQUE SYSTEM to help me in those areas. I play on a haynes or the Miyazawa flute.
I remember the excellent quality of the old Yamaha 200 series from the 80s...then it decreased in the 90s... and it decreased in the 2000s....and now they build on Indonesia. Nothing more to say. I think the same thing happened with Haynes Muramatsu Powell etc. What is that thing with the heavy wall flutes? Funny...in the past EVERY FLUTE WAS HEAVY WALL MADE!!! From student flutes to the professional ones.
