Those of you still watching this 31 years after the fact are the legends that made this happen! Without the viewership and the fans that supported this effort, this wonderful music would have never been made.
I just watched this movie again , while running on my tred mill , I've seen it at least 30 times and still laugh all the way threw it ... The whole cast are brilliantly talented .... I hope my video tape of this great movie , never Wares out ! # love The Commitments !
@@nikcrosina From the Irish Times: "Alan Parker had originally hoped to land none other than Van Morrison himself for the role of the film’s trumpet player Joey “The Lips” Fagan-but the role eventually went to stage actor Johnny Murphy instead. Murphy also happened to be the only member of the cast to not play their own instruments." So, they were all talented singers and musicians and had never acted, except for Johnny Murphy, who had acted but didn't play an instrument.
No doubt about it, the film was brilliant and the soundtrack even better. It stands as a credible album of its own accord. To me this vid' can be summed up in one word - fun. Everyone is clearly enjoying themselves - 'wish I could have been there!
THE 1ST TIME I SAW THE MOVIE I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT, WISH I COULD OF SEE THE CONCERT. I HAVE A COPY OF THE MOVIE THAT I WILL WATCH AS LONG FOR YEARS TO COME. THE MUSIC & THE MOVIE WILL NEVER GET OLD
Tell u this, I watched the commitments in HK around 1992..and decided to go to Ireland to study/live/die...Even after all these years I found this movie and soul musicians influenced me the most §§§§§
Holy shit, this band from the movie is still rocking 26 years later??? Please come to Chicago. Would love to see the Brunette backup singer too, always had a crush on her back then.
I had no idea that they were still playing together over a decade later. Simply love their sound. I guess there are some different folks now? Oh well, still love the sound.
We could not believe how good this movie and the music was...My wife and I were in a band called Jubilee....down along the Snake...from Weiser to Jordan Valley. And it was a lot like this movie...Our signature piece was Snowbird...believe It!
I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE. (1) Robert Arkins (Jimmy Rabbitte) (2) Dick Massey (Billy Mooney) (3) Bronagh Gallagher (Bernie McGloughlin) (4) Angeline Ball (Imelda Quirke) (5) Andrew Strong (Deco Cuffe) (6) Dave Finnegan (Mickaw Wallace) (7) Michael Aherne (Steven Clifford) (8) Felim Gormley (Dean Fay) (9) Glen Hansard (Outspan Foster) and (10) The guy that played the bass player in the movie can be seen playing guitar on stage right. The only two that are missing are Johnny Murphy (Joey the Lips Fagan) and Natalie Murphy. Sadly Johnny Murphy had left us by then. FRED GALLANT
I have no idea why they aren't more famous, better than half the shit coming out today. And that's coming from a 20 year old! Guess I was raised right xD

@malelion: Maria Doyle Kennedy went on to become Catherine of Aragon on Showtime's hit historical drama, "The Tudors" from 2007 to 2010. She did a magnificent job portraying the falledn Queen of England.

Nothing better than the Commitments film and music, Masterpiece.
What a frickin' awesome band! I've been hooked since the movie was popular.
Andrew was singing his guts out! There's nothing like a good horn section with a damn baritone sax! This is soul!!!
I absolutly agree...
Your right my friend!
I've sang in front of 10 peice. Bands 3 backup singers and a Horn section. Nothing like it!😎

Holy shit, this band from the movie is still rocking 26 years later??? Please come to Chicago. Would love to see the Brunette backup singer too, always had a crush on her back then.
I think that the original cast coming back together to perform was a one night only kind of thing. They didn’t tour together I don’t believe.

He's singing even better here than he did as a younger man.
One of the world's biggest tragedies is how Andrew Strong never did anything with his movie career. I want more of that voice!
