I’m not trying to be a smarty pants but I think she meant normocephalic (normal nose, not pushed in), dolicocephalic dogs have an unusually long nose, like a greyhound, or siamese cats
I'm so glad others felt the need to post about this too! There are three main skull shapes in dogs. Claire is talking about not preferring Brachycephalic dogs (like Bulldogs, Pugs). There are Mesocephalic or normocephalic dogs (like Retrievers, Spaniels, Terriers) and Dolichocephalic dogs with extra long snouts (like German Shepherds, Poodles, Greyhound). They're all loveable in my opinion, but Claire is right that Brachycephalic dogs have the most breathing problems unfortunately.
I like that she showed her overcooked apples and said what you can do with them, instead of doing a sneaky replacement with the ones she made ahead of time.
Love how you always provide so many "indicators", makes it very easy to follow even without high tech tools. This dessert looks so stunning with that glaze on top!
I COOKED it! It's the first time ever in my life when I ever worked with any kind of dough or caramel or pie, and Claire's directions made it very easy to make Tarte Tatin. It was delicious. I had guests the other night and when I got that first bite of the Tarte I honestly liked what I had cooked and I was confident that the guests liked it to

- makes ur house smell really good
- the puff pastry recipe bangs
I, too, use brandy to "perfume" myself. If that's what we are calling it. So great to see Claire in her element!
I use it for medicinal purposes.
With covid and all that I've been using brandy and other kinds of liquor to sanitize myself from the inside.....
Claire and her Brandy give off strong “two shots of vodka” vibes.
Always taste your food
I was looking for this comment.
"just two shots of vodka" *Glug Glug Glug Glug *
Claire: “ Bad kitty!!”
Also Claire with a muffled voice from snuggles: “But I can’t scold him because he’s the best”
*Cuts to spraying counter with cleaner*
If that’s not the life of a cat lover I don’t know what is
I really appreciate her cleaning the counter and herself after the cat jumped on the counter and she picked him up.
My partner and I adore you, you killing it, so much love to you.
Claire praying stuff will fit into/won't fall out of her jam-packed fridge/freezer is a recurring theme and it always makes me laugh.
If you added little posters or stickers of the animated characters to your online store I think they'd be a massive hit
Am I the only one absolutely obsessed with the animated intro!?
i love it too
there's just something in the way claire cooks and teaches - it's so captivating, yet relaxing
I find her videos very soothing. No shtick, no drama, just clear, intelligent information calmly delivered.
I love how Claire takes the time to tell us how she folds her dough with the butter incorporated into it as if we haven't seen her laminate dough a million different times. 😂
I have not, and I suspect there are plenty of other viewers who are coming to her via her home kitchen videos and not via BA.
Claire - Burns herself, tells people not to do that, shows people not to do that, shows them she’s careful.
Also Claire - Burns herself again.
There is in fact a word for "snouty" dogs! They're dolicocephalic!
This is the kind of geekery all comments sections should have! :-)
I was just coming here to say that lol and squish-faced dogs are called brachycephalic!
So was I lol, I'm glad I learned the opposite word :D
I just noticed that the producer is Vincent Cross!!!
I MISSED YA VINNY!!!
Yeah, we were wondering where he went after Babish and it turns out he went to Claire.
@@recoil53 Brad*
@@thomassparks827 Vinny went from BA to Binging with Babish, then left.
Oh, no kidding? Thanks for the info!
Wow! I’m so happy I found your channel. I thought we had lost you forever.
Please tell us everyone from BA test kitchen who have their own channels.
I love the satisfied look of her cat when he got picked up.
Who else replayed the cat episode three or four times just to watch Claire snuggle Felix and say, "He's the best."
"There's an apple out there for everyone."
How I wish there was a Claire out there for everyone. 🥺
I want a Claire 😥
at the very least one for each of us.
(ill be nice you can have one also :P )
There is, right here on RUclips. Gotta share, though.
i’m a lucky to have a Clare as friend, she’s pretty cool
I guess we all should be a Claire.. So that we'll have each other🥰
Claire has evolved beyond 'Dessert Person', she is now 'Dessert Phoenix'.
Lol
I like that she showed her overcooked apples and said what you can do with them, instead of doing a sneaky replacement with the ones she made ahead of time.
Love how you always provide so many "indicators", makes it very easy to follow even without high tech tools. This dessert looks so stunning with that glaze on top!
I COOKED it! It's the first time ever in my life when I ever worked with any kind of dough or caramel or pie, and Claire's directions made it very easy to make Tarte Tatin. It was delicious. I had guests the other night and when I got that first bite of the Tarte I honestly liked what I had cooked and I was confident that the guests liked it to
“It’ll just take a little extra coaxing” she says, and then proceeded to beat the shit out of the dough
I love that Felix is so dedicated to sowing chaos at all times and Claire is all about order, precision, routine. Cats are all little anarchists and we love them for it
i just really relate to claire saying “bad kitty” but not meaning it at all and then giving felix a cuddle 😩🥺
I had everything to make this so I just went ahead and did it. It’s in the oven now. Can’t wait!
The algorithm recommended this to me so I guess that's a good thing.
"There's an apple out there for everyone."
Me allergic to apples: 😶
Curses!
Your apple just happens to be a pear or something.
When you want to make a joke but you realise the joke is in your native language and doesn't translate well. We call oranges sinas-appel in Dutch so I wanted to suggest it as the apple for you.
Pineapple?
@@laartje24 French version of joke
Pomme = Apple
Pomme de terre = Potato
Claire carefully closing her freezer door like it's Raiders of the Lost Ark
Claire: fills half cup, "Add some brandy...."
Also Claire: Proceeds to empty bottle into pan
Claire- 11:08 "One thing I always do with any kind of pastry is use the rolling pin and kind of force it into the shape that I want."
Also Claire- Forms dough into square.
Also Claire- Spends an inordinate amount of time and effort beating and rolling her square into a circle.
I got the book when it came out and I tried this rough puff pastry. I can honestly say it is the best I've ever tasted (and easy too)
That intro animation is just perfect. Kudos to the artists involved.
"So, let me show you what you'll need for this recipe" Such a simple statement: Why is this not a standard part of EVERY cooking channel?
I'd watch 25 minutes of Claire denouncing red delicious apples
did I just learn more about baking in this video than in all of BA?
I love that you’re highlighting other people’s cookbooks at the end of your videos!
