The KM-17 Katz-Moses Router Plane presale is HERE! I’m so excited to announce the coolest tool we’ve ever developed. We designed this to be the best router plane on the market. It has a proprietary adjustment mechanism with zero backlash, the highest chromium content on the market (the higher the chromium the higher the rust resistance), it has an extremely accurate depth guide in both imperial and metric. The router plane is the most useful tool in the shop for dialing in joinery and truly makes you a better woodworker. The Katz-Moses Router Plane comes with 2 blades and a sharpening guide, a fence, and the tools needed to adjust/attach everything. This project was in collaboration with the greatest tool maker in the world and the first of a series of six tools we’re putting out together. Thank you for your support. Could you show how you sharpen the blades using the blade holder as a sharpening aid (either on a flat stone or a Tormek?). Just ordered mine

It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!

I'm curious how sales are going? I own one of these and love it. I'm a bit of a plane snob and believe a tool should be nice to look at. This is hands down the best looking router plane on the market and it works as well as it looks.

I received my KM17 a couple days ago and I have to say it is the finest version of the router plane I have ever used.
Rarely you look at a woodworking tool, that is not only practical, but is also a piece of art. It looks so amazing, you just want it.

What is the price
Does the height adjustment locking mechanism put pressure on the threads? Hoping it clamps on those 2 rods instead. Thanks.
Just got mine yesterday and already put it to use. So easy to set up and glides well. Super sharp out of the box too.

Chinese knockoff. Veritas are made in Canada.

Hi Jonathan, My KM Router plane arrived a few minutes ago. Thank you, this is a beautifully made and well thought out tool. There are too many great features to list them all, but it is clear that you have thought of everything, from the countersunk holes in the base for attaching an auxiliary base to the blade holder for sharpening. If there is anyone undecided reading this, then let me decide for you. Buy one. You won't regret it.

That's a fair price, congrats on the tool. A major competitor just increased their price to 250 for their large router plane, which was a 60 dollar increase!

I went to the website expecting a certain price point and wow… that’s super reasonable for that kind of quality. Excited to see what’s next - especially the chisel hammer. I work on guitars and that little hammer with a brass face will be perfect for seating frets that have popped up

I also went to look expecting this to end up on a wishlist, but after seeing the price I had to grab my wallet. Up to now I’ve been using a “poor man’s” router plane I made from pine and a chisel. This will be a welcome upgrade.

I've seen it on ali express for a bit less money and without your company markings, other than that it is 100% the same thing. Don't know whether or not you can take legal action, but the factory that makes it is selling it on the side.
I think you might find it interesting to google around on comments about this plane and legal action. Maybe add "veritas" to that search.

Absolutely beautiful tool, router planes have so many uses in the shop that you don’t know until you use one. Now I just need to justify why I need two.

That is such a good router plane. And a really good price. I have three different router planes and that beats them all. I just have to work out how to convince the wife I must have four router planes.

Two questions, and maybe I'm misunderstanding something here, but is there a depth stop? I don't quite understand the mechanics you were alluding to about precision depth adjustment. Or is it just reading off the gauge? Second question, plans for additional blades of varying widths?
