deployment spec is better than supply spec because normally you're limited to max 3 units per round but you can get past that with deployment spec. $ value wise they are equal except deployment gets you 50 more resources for being useful a round sooner
This is only true if you're going to deploy full units every round to make the most of it. Which is not always optimal, (as you don't have that much money) and every round you're not rentabilizing it, supply spec would've gotten more value over it. So it's hard to say.

whats the trick to zoom out that far?
you can do that in the settings
if you go to settings -> control -> and toggle "increase max camera height" you can zoom out farther
