so funny. this programme was actually most genius thing ever made.
I totally agree. "How dare you" Brilliant.
Dawn French has such a hearty laugh! It's lovely
God I just love all these women :) So honest and funny.
Love and appreciate so many of the women in this 😍
"Freak.. I'm saying that in an understanding way"
LOL! Laughed so hard, love Dawn!
I agree to a certain extent with you, Joan Rivers, Lucille Ball, and Phyllis Diller (whom are debatably the biggest comedians ever) are beautiful, even when they were old. Although I do say that (to me) their humor makes them more beautiful. Which makes them pass and withstand the test of time.
All due respect to Joan, there are some very attractive female comedians and comedic actresses these days.
Always thought Dawn was an A+ entertainer, just knew she had to be equally awesome as a person and a friend. Nice to see these gals let their hair down and speak frankly - good'on-ya!
Cheers from Alaska!
i LOVE joan rivers!! *bows to queen of comedy*
A woman with great sense of humor is beautiful forever.
many thanks!
"they expect moi to be glamorous and incredible sexy!" just great
thank u again!
"freak, I am saying that in an understanding way" ahaha
use it as a microphone. LOL! that's hysterical!
I find this series actually more insightful and revealing than the "Boys" series
Big up yourself Dootza for posting :)
lol at miss piggy
"I GAVE YOU WATER!"
Miss Piggy is a legend. That is all.
Does anyone have the entire Sarah Silverman interview? Or Miss Piggy?
Dawn did a hilarious satire of C.Z-J on a French & Saunders show about 5 years ago. It's available in the states on one of the 6 S&F DVDs. Check it out. It's brillant like most things she does.
When Dawn asks Joan rivers if she thinks beauty and comedy are related and she says no, I have to disagree. Off the top of my head, both jen and Dawn are BEAUTIFUL and are one of the biggest female comedy duos known to man!!!!!
Where does the scene at 2:43 come from?
I'll walk you through this slowly, people are responding to my comments and I am responding to there responses. This is how discourse works.
yes that's her. thank
Probably, as we are inclined to be attracted to those that can make us laugh, but at least that means that they are doing their job! ;) and we all get something good to look at!! :)
"i gave you water"
Cool!
2:20 nuff said. lmao
Excuse me, Miss Piggy is a very trusted female entertainer lol.
she is very funny actually and she is very well know in maerica, I live in the uk and a lot of people know of her
Miss piggy. That's her name, seriously.
gotta love sarah.
at 4:43 which ones the pig. I'm sorry I know thats lousey
Okay, first of all these women are NOT suppose to be the "funniest", the reason why these women are on here is because these just happen to be Dawn French's personal favorites. Second, not all of these women are stand up comedians, many of them are comedic actresses, or comedy writers, they work with improv, etc. So not all of them are doing the whole stand-up thing. (continued)
ahh can someone tell me what her name is ? (3:07)
The girl with the red/white stripe shirt looks like chris rock
why isnt kathy griffin in there?
Kathy Griffin is heavily inspired by Joan Rivers, and Phyllis Diller! They think alike so much. And Actually, some people (like Ellen and Katy Perry) insist that Kathy is the next generation Joan Rivers. I agree, though Joan still does her thing, as does Kathy, it is obvious that these two women are the closest female comics. Seriously Joan, Lucille and Phyllis are the Queens, and paved the way for the rest, but Kathy Griffin, Rosie, and "maybe" Ellen are worthy successors.
Haha when kathy burke says bout men not likin women who are funny and dawn asks why... funniest bit me hinks. 2 of the 3 funniest woman, obviously jens one of them lol x
The way the comment system works is that new comments(even replies) are at first posted at the top and so I can't always tell who is responding to me and who is just posting a new comment.
I always listen to what people have to say, I don't always agree but I do always listen.
@xarcherx987 Bollocks- maybe if there was no pay gap, no anti-choice legislation, no sex slave trafficking, no rape and maybe if other countries didn't treat women as livestock you could have some basis for saying that.
they're all wrong - Kathy Burke's line made me fancy her.
(continued) And third, of course these women are not being funny on here! I don't know if you realize this, but they are suppose to be having in-depth discussions about their lives, careers, etc. This is not the time to do their stand-up routines! That's what the program is all about, it's suppose to be an interviewing session. Last, your opinion is not a universal fact. There are lot's of people that think women are funnier, and they are not wrong. That's just their opinion. (2nd continued)
The funniest part by far is Sarah Silverman talking about menstruation.
i find women funnier than men i mean not by a lot but being a woman myself i find it easier to relate to certain jokes that women say and it just makes it funnier!
where is Kathy Griffin??
Luv this though
Where is Roseanne????
Thank you for illustrating my point so perfectly. You are so wise and witty, you should try stand up. I'm so sorry if i caused you some offence, how could i have been so blind to the feelings of freedom fighters like you. And of couse your correct, the views I hold and other male and female stand ups hold about such things must mean were all against men. I'm sorry I needed you to tell me I'm a feminist, I never knew.
I'm taking stand up and sketch comedy, not comedic acting.
Who are these duos?
Interesting how Wax talks about luring boys, but mainly gay boys.
Coming from a guy, I think any guy who has to make anti-feminist statements regarding female comedians has either had too many dates with the Rosies and Ellens of the world, or they have serious confidence problems. I love funny women. If a woman can make me laugh, I'm interested... and I'm NOT gay (for some reason some of the women on here seem to think the only men who would be interested in a funny woman are gay men... had sad for them).
@JGib12345 You Know what, I totally agree with you. When I wrote it I had just come back from a totally awful gig and was so pissed I would punch the first man I saw. But truly I dont believe that ALL men act like that at all, I was just in a mood. Plus I didnt think so many people would agree with me and it wood always be under the clip. Having said all that, and please dont think im being rude as im not sure where your from, but sexisim is still a populer pass time in South Africa.
@yageman: I didn't tell a story, it was an observation. But I don't expect an adult who still uses the term "bro" to be able to tell the difference.
How many funny women can you name of the top of your head?
How many funny men can you name of the top of your head?
Which number is significantly bigger?
wtf miss piggy? lol
it's a shame that under a video that in fact is just a really wonderful compilation of interviews with funny and successful women, there are so many hideous comments from people who think anyone cares what their opinion on these women is. this video wasn't made for you, it's made to celebrate successful women in the media and the brilliant chemistry Dawn French manages to generate between herself and literally ANYONE. you can moan about feminism all you want, but it's not relevant to this video.
@gombis666 Abso-fucking-lutely! Kathy Griffin is hysterical! I think one of the thing so many of these women don't understand about men is we're visual. If you're hysterical and ugly, you're still ugly, but if you're hysterical and hot, you're HOTTER!! Of course, Kathy G., Rosie, Ellen, etc... wouldn't care anything about men, and that's probably why Kathy wasn't on this show. You DID notice Sarah Silverman (totally hot), other than "late developement" didn't say a word about trouble with men
I think women can be as every bit funny as many. But it's a slightly different sort of funnny.
HAHA sarah silverman is FUNNY
dude, I'm sorry.
so, get the funniest female's in the UK/US, get them to talk about being funny with DAWN FRENCH and spread it out over the course of three hours...
whoever came up with this should be knighted.
I love funny women. You have to be smart to make a career of comedy. Maybe not all of these women are conventionally attractive but beauty is subjective, there's always someone that will think you're beautiful and I wouldn't say any of them are ugly.
Bloody hell. On the boys who do comedy videos the comment are all praising the comedians, on here every comment is some feminist whinging. Sexiam is dead and buried, women are the only ones keeping it alive.
i find woman f unnier than men and im a guy
(2nd continued) What's between your legs has nothing to do with how funny you are. Last time I checked women are humans, and if you are a human, then you are capable of being funny. No matter your gender/sex, funny humans exist. And there are just as many funny women as there are funny men, many of them just choose not to be comedians professionally. And the ones that do, not all of them will have camera's on them.
Jenny Eclair "A man can laugh a woman's knickers off it doesn't work the other way round"
I'm sorry, but that's just unture.
where's kathy griffin? (she's okay I guess)
im a man who likes a funny girl....guess that makes me a weirdo
Am I the only one that doesn't really get Sarah Silverman's humour?
I'm not having a go at her at all, I'm just trying to figure out why I don't particularly find her that funny in the same way I find all the other women on here. And it's not because she's American, because I think Ruby Wax is one of the funniest, and even Joan Rivers has her hilarious moments.
i agree the woman are better
most male comedians are'nt that funny but shock people to get a laugh but there are some that are good but not many
karaoke
I've seen their work and I'm not impressed. Who would you consider to be a good female stand up?
Good series. Is being funny attractive? Being witty makes a strong impression, and strength is attractive (unless it's intimidating). Being odd, on the other hand, makes an pitiable impression, and pitiable is not attractive.
She really isn't.
I'll agree that tracy ullman is the closeist thing to an exception that possibly exists. Carol Burnett, though brilliant, would be best described as a comedic actress not a true stand up.
Can we just accept that like powerlifting and math men are just better comedy. I'm sorry if it not PC but it does happen to be true.
what kind of geeky tattoos? and i think intelligent well thought out tattoos are definitely attractive
I met Sarah Silverman in about 1991 or 92 way before she was famous. She was not an attractive girl. I remember she had a uni-brow. She is certainly a late bloomer.
@MarizaHD Kathy Griffin is in no way funny, she doesn't deserve to be in this interview.
Because she's not funny? Just a guess, though in all likelihood, that is probably the reason.
No, that's not what you're doing. Your other post yesterday about Tracey Ullman is not in response to anyone's response. Nobody was addressing you or talking about you. You just keep coming back to this thread to say how unfunny women are. As I said, you've got head problems.
And don't use words like "discourse". Obsessives don't do discourse, they do monologues.
Of course women can be funny. I found this video only because I was searching for a comedienne whose work I enjoy. I don't understand how you can get so many funny women and produce such a tedious show.
I'm thinking it's a cold hard fact that you don't find men funny either. I reckon you haven't got a sense of humour at all.
And despite what some of these women said, being funny is a turn-on for both sexes. As a man, I've always given extra shagability-points to women who could make me laugh. I married one of them.
same here man...in fact its humor 1st....then breasts!! hahahah no seriously.....its the bum!!
I was disappointed - I would dearly love to find a good woman comedian, but I'm afraid Sarah's not it. A lot of potty humor, which I think gets boring fast, if it's even that funny in the first place. I know some people like her dissections of racists, misogynists, homophobes and other bigots.I think she actually does women a bit of a disservice in that she's so childlike maybe she's just using it a comic device, but I suspect there's more to it than that.
soulinite - I don't find MadTV funny, as I found out by looking at RUclips videos recently. I didn't post my opinion, but if I had done, it wouldn't have been more than once. If you don't like something, you give your opinion and then vanish. Find something you do like. That's what sane people do. You really have to be quite an obsessive to keep appearing on a thread about funny women, and
repeatedly saying how unfunny women are. You should take it as a warning that you've got
head problems.
Bullshit. I totally get turned on by a girl being funny. Society and media is nit a representative of the individual.
so are you saying that their experience is a lie? because you like a girl being funny that means the entire world is like you?
eye roll
That women are not funny is not my opion, it is a cold hard fact.
You've miss understood my point. it isn't that moist female comedians I've seen are not as funny as the men. It's that I've NEVER seen a funny female stand up. I've seen good female comedic actors but I've never seen a funny female comedian.
Lenny bruce was funny, George Carlin was funny, the pythons where funny, the kids in the hall were funny, the whitest kids you know are funny as is doug standhope, penn and teller as are Seinfeld, Mahr, cobert and stewart. All XY.
Why? Because I won't pretend women are funny for the sake of political correctness?
maybe not but funny men exist where as funny women do not.
no, it wasn't. you are not funny
the pythons were funny, kids in the hall are funny, chris farely was funny, lenny bruce was funny. George Carlin was funnny, Penn and teller are funny, as is Seinfeld, Mahr, Stewart and Cobert. Doug stanhope is funny.
Ellen, Rosie, Cho, Tina and Silvermen are horrifically unfunny and are the "best" female comedians in the business.
Can you list even one female stand up as funny as the least funny man on my list?
the pythons were funny, kids in the hall are funny, chris farely was funny, lenny bruce was funny. George carlin is funnny, Penn and teller are funny, as is seinfeld, mahr, stewart and cobert. Ellen, rosie, cho and silvermen are horrifically unfunny and are the "best" female comedians in the business.
sarah is not funny
Find me one truly funny women and I will retract my statement. Commedians are almost always men and the few women who managed to make some money of the freak show that is their acts are always the worst in the business. Seinfeld, stewart, cobert and mahr are funny. Ellen, cho, rosie and silvermen are not.
The only person in your list even remotely aproaching funny is whoopi(and her entire act is just making fun of the GOP, which has become less the hard since Bush took office). and what is whoopi doing now? or right, being unfunny on the view.
