In this video I had not yet modded it. It's just slightly sensitive. However it is easy to mod if you are interested. There are videos of how to make it more sensetive. Basically if you open it there is foam inside, you can replace the foam with something harder. (like cork or wood). This will greatly increase the sensitivity.
@@OCHY.. Hey! My experience was rather nice! I got the drum pretty quickly (something like 2-3 weeks if i recall well? It may take longer for you because of the pandemic right now) and it works just fine! came in looking perfect and it was just overall very satisfying! I personally say that going with Play Asia would be a good way to go to get a tatacon if you want one! Cheers!
@@OCHY.. of course! Joycon play is honestly not very fun and basically extremely hard to do in harder songs. Just know that the shipping may be high depending on where you live (i live in canada so it cost me a lot more than i'd have expected, ouch!), and it can be noisy too. In any cases, i hope you have fun with it!
@@GameBleatColor yeah I live in Canada too and the shipping is super high hahahaha. Didn't thought it would be that expensive, but I guess I'll have to go with it if I want a nice experience XD. Anyway thanks again for your recommendations, it's really nice of you !
Am I the only one having extreme trouble hitting the blue notes? Like the red ones are no problem, I can use my fingers for it to detect but for the blue ones I actually have to slam my sticks real hard
Ka notes on the home switch drum are not very sensitive so you need to mod it by putting rubber strips on the ka sensor. There’s tutorials you can follow just search taiko hori drum ka mod
Great review, I just imported one from Amazon Japan. I'll mod it to improve sensitivity. Also with a Mayflash Magic-S Pro adapter it will work on PS4 (and the PS4 drum will work on Switch)!
@@Micromation Good question, I own both Magic-S and Magic-S Pro, but I don't have Taiko for PS4 yet to test. Based on what I read you'll need the Pro model.
@@Chocoburger Hey quick question - does Taiko on Switch support 1v1 locally with 2 drums plugged in? I have a bargain opportunity to get 2 Hori drums but I don't know whether or not it's worth grabbing both.
@@Micromation I only have one drum at the moment, but I can't see why two wouldn't work. But it'd be best to ask the Taiko subreddit if you wanted absolute confirmation. But either way, I'd want two drums since they can break and it's always a good idea to have a back up, especially when HORI stops manufacturing them. Which means that I should buy another one.
Can you play with wooden sticks without damaging it? Where can I buy it separately? I want the game digitally and it’s on sale I live in the netherlands. Any idea where shop for it? Also you mentioned you can get arcade style versions. Is there a big version somewhere?
Using wooden maibachi will wear on it more. From what I've read it could ruin the foam inside the controller. (If you want to mod it you will remove the foam anyway). It will probably also depend on how hard you hit as well as what kind of maibachi you are using. If it is very pointy it will probably do more damage than the ones with more rounded tips. You can buy it separately from "store.bandainamcoent.eu/eu/product/486090/tatakon-drum-set-switch" although it's currently out of stock. From what I have seen it's only available separately (in the eu) from the BandaiNamcoEnt store. Although you can probably import it from japan. As for the Netherlands specifically, I have no idea. There is a bigger version called "太鼓の達人専用コントローラPro", but it's only available in Japan. There is also the unofficial "Taiko Force Lv5" which is as close to the arcade equivalent as possible, but it's very expensive.
I have not yet modded mine, however I will be doing that somewhere in the future. I have to hit kinda hard, but i feel like it's easier with wooden maibachi (that might just be because I am used to it). It is still loud though.
@@777mvtt damn i forgot i even commented this i figured out a solution which is playing with a cloth over the tatacon but either way i prefer button controls
Yes, but I agree that it is not very sensitive. When I made this video i had gotten pretty used to it, and because I am not that good at the game I could make do with what I had. However afterwards I modded it to get more sensitivity, and it's much better now. If you don't mind taking it apart I would recommend doing the sensitivity mod. Otherwise another solution is to use different sticks than the plastic ones included. Like how I used wooden sticks in the video. However this will only help a little bit and I still recommend the sensitivity mod.

The water bottle move to add weight was a really cool idea.
