The Simplex Vs The Equinox testing the signals

  • Today we took the Simplex and the Equinox out and when we found a signal we compaired both the Equinox and the Simplex to see what they made of the target.
    I think because we are used to the Minelab Equinox and its tones we seem to feel more at ease using them but the Simplex did do well againt the equinox.

    This was a great video! I love both machines. I just got my Nox 800, but I have had the Simplex for almost a year. If there was one thing I learned about the Simplex it that it loves big iron targets. Sometimes you can tell it's iron if it's a small target because the signal will be broken. That's not the case with big iron. With that said, I dug an awful lot of iron with the Nox the last time I took it out. I think a lot of it was because there were high tones mixed in occasionally and I didn't want to miss a good target that was next to a piece of iron, so I dug it. This was the case only once. lol Thanks for sharing this with us, guys!!

    • @TheMetalDetectingChannel
      @TheMetalDetectingChannel  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can dig a lot of iron with the nox but im starting to learn what to not dig lol but still you have to dig to be 100% I guess.. lol

    • @Aaron50001
      @Aaron50001 2 года назад +2

      If you pump the Simplex over the target ( like when you ground balance) you usually get the number 4 ID which is the ID for iron and there is a mute button to stop the interference from the pin pointer .

    For the price difference you could get two Simplex detectors.
    Simplex did a great job. But from what I’m seeing it takes time getting to know that machine before it becomes a real beast.
    If money isn’t an issue go with the Nox , it’s a bit lighter and tones sound better.
    But I did order a simplex because of this video.

    • @TheMetalDetectingChannel

      Yes to be fair its not really a fair comparison to have a simplex up against a machine a few times it's price, I agre that the simplex is an great built machine and once you get used to the sounds is also a very capable machine.

    Great video. Ive owned both for a year and have used them until theyre nearly falling apart (well the simplex is anyway)... my thought is the The Simplex is a great value with some good features. But in terms of finding targets in undisturbed soil- it’s just OK, and rather overhyped based on some claims out there...It isnt a deep machine, though its respectable on sand and loose, loamy soil.... The nox on the other hand has shocked me many times in terms of raw depth and ID stability.

      I'm trying to when filming be as open minded as possible due to the fact I use a equinox 800 and 100% love the machine I try to not come across as if I dislike the simplex, I know I should not compare the simplex with the nox as there are 2 completely different animals but i do feel that the vanquish 340 is actually a better machine although it does not have some of the good features that the simplex has, I think i would still choose the vanquish over the simplex :-) thank you for your comment i do agree with what you say:-) thanks for you support..

    Regarding the tones, I used to hate the tones when I first got one, especially field mode. Park 1 is nearly as deep and gives you 3 tones like an XP. The modulation on the simplex is far better so you can work out what you're detecting just from sound alone. I sold my Nox last week due to the overall poor build quality compared to the simplex and lack of clear sound. Once you get used to a Nokta it's hard to go back to that bwoop bwoop sound (although it doesn't fatigue as much).
    I've found a LOT of silver with my simplex and tiny Roman grots and other historical items. With the new carbon shaft announced and new coils, it's an absolute amazing detector.

    • @TheMetalDetectingChannel
      @TheMetalDetectingChannel  3 года назад +1

      I agree with you on the build quality, thats the thing i like most about the simplex, love the feel of quality. I dont doubt the Simplex as its going to be like most machines, you just got to get used to them but for me and maybe this is just because im used to the nox but i find the nox a lot clearer in picking targets.. I will try Park 1 next time :-) i used all metal mode on a recommendation but found this to be horrible lol. If they do the carbon shaft then that will be a good thing although it is pretty light :-) Thanks for watching matey

    Interesting how a $250 machine can get out there bump heads with a Nox. The cross talk between the Simplex and Nox is bad. I have found the interference from the Nox will affect the Simplex even if it's not making it chatter. Got to back it off 25 feet or so. It's not a Nox but for $250 it rocks. I own two of them.

      I really enjoyed both machines 😀 we ended up giving that simplex away to a viewer a year or so ago :-) but even so they are solid built machines that's for sure, cheers 🍻

      And that's why they have discontinued it the Simplex + but they have the same exact Tone's on the New Simplex Lineup of Detector's and after using it for the 3 + years , I'm Glad that I went to the New Minelab X-TERRA Pro and I'm not Diggin Up any kind of Iron Quarter Tone Targets that the Simplex says that it's a good target and I always end up with the Junkyard of Target's with the Simplex but not more and I have traded it up for a Equinox 600 that is needing to be updated..... but I love the X-Terra Pro ❤❤❤❤....

    Really not a fan of the audio from the simplex, I think it would give me a headache.
    I find minelabs a bit soft and I have the volume cranked right up on mine so I can hear it properly, my deus is about right for me, but the simplex is far too harsh in my opinion, I’m sure it’s a good machine but I don’t think I could stand the audio, sounds like a stylophone.

      I agree, the simplex just sounds crazy lol I love the clean tones from the equinox but again your right about how loud it goes, you have to wear your headphones in a windy day or you can't hear anything. Thanks for watchibg

    who win?

    • @TheMetalDetectingChannel
      @TheMetalDetectingChannel  3 года назад +2

      The Minelab Equinox is a better machine by far, I mean there is a few 100 pounds more expensive so you would expect the equinox to win.. the simplex has a great build quality though :-)

    Simplex are very hit n miss IMO. Very chattery and signals were all over the place. Pinpointing way off too. My experience. Maybe I'm just too used to my ml explorer.

      I'm not sure I really gave it enough time and should have kept at it, the only problem I had was I found even the vanquish 340 was better so found it frustrating to try and get my head around all the chatters lol plus I don't know of a minelab thats no good on the beach where as the simplex struggled on the wet sand in my opinion 🙃 cheers for watching 👀😀

      @@TheMetalDetectingChannel yes, this was exactly my experience too. I see a lot of vids showing good depth on testing etc BUT this is not indicitave of actual real field use IMO. I found it pretty unusable but there again, a complete beginner may find them great. 👍

      I agree matey, I see some people get on withe them really well even on wet sands but for me you just can't beat a minelab

      @@TheMetalDetectingChannel do you think maybe there are good machines and bad ones being put out? Mine had clearly been opened and used and if I didn't know better would've thought it had been a returned item. Maybe the calibration is out on some of them? Maybe some of the components are sub standard? I don't know BUT they have to cut costs somewhere. Cheers 👍

    The tones on that simplex are awful, I know it's had great reviews but that would put me off listening to that all day.

      Mine will make that chattering noise as well. It's caused by interference with another device.
