Its actually 'Khol', a longer version Mridangam used in Eastern India by Vaishnavites in 'Sangkeertan' a form of Bhajan.
You do know hes a Vishnava right? lol
Shri Khol
Beautiful memories.. Back in 80's..in jorhat assam near district jail there was vaishanav temple.. Every evening.. Bhajan were played.. The sound of mradang jhanjh... Beautiful atmosphere.. 😊
To all the Bengali speaking people, this Indian musical instrument is called Khol in Bangla.
BUT IN SANSKRITA, IT IS CALLED AS MRIDANGA [MRIT (Earthen) + ANGA (Body)], since the body of this instrument is made of earth. SO IT IS CORRECTLY SAID AS MRIDANGA.
❤❤❤❤...they focus on spelling rather than music....but actually music is beyond language and spelling
Nice explanation
No incorrect
@@Nevertrustanyoneagain just tell me what beat was being played, what is the beat in count, you understa music, so you can easily tell me the tala count and name also
@ devkumar....f*** u....because you don't know the music....in western it is 8/4 beat ...not 4/4 always...but In indian it is it combination of 3 taal ardha and some places they got the kaharwa touch also....can you tell me what is the scale just by hearing....not by confirmation with other instrument...because the name c d e....beats 4/4 8/4 or indianly 4/4/4/4 or that staffs are actually discovered 2000 years later of music....I know you have just learned to catch a beat....keep learning....one day you will surely know music has no language
Tell me what raaga is being played...in western the pattern is called what...and what is in indian....???
Both are enjoying what they are doing....
Mind blowing performance 🎉🎉
হরি বোল,,, হরে কৃষ্ণ 🙏
This instrument is called sreekhol or khol, Mridanga may be looks like it but that has slightly closed and low end sound. The sreekhol has a gab and open hi end chanti thats why it has that open bell sound. Mridanga dosent has the gab. And also Mridanga is lot more familiar in South-Indian Classical music where's the sreekhol is lot more famiar in Bhajans, Bengali Folk, Rabindrasangeet, Devotional, Religious Music.. That open hi end of a chanti is also we can see in tabla and it signifies the essence of positivity in life.
It's a khol which is belongs to Assamese culture not Bengali
@@jitumonidas4025 😳😳😳😛😛😛😛 from WestBengal JAI HIND from India
It known as old version of latest tabla
Its call Khol 💃💃💃💃💃💃
Yrr bangal asaam sab main play karte hai north indian hum dhol aur dholak yaa dholki vi bajate hai vo thoda bada hota south asian midle east west asia tak dhol wajaya jata hai south main mirdengem kehte hai north main shehnai and south nadswaram lekin sare commen hote hai thoda sa hi difference hota apna apna culture ka music and songs hote hai 🙏🥰m
It is Khol, being widely played in Bengal, Assam, Orissa, Manipur specially by the Vaishnavs.
Actually I want to say it's Odisha not Orissa... 😊
The mridanga player is none other than Anand Murti, one of those bhakti brothers player in Radhadesh Mellows sand connected to ISKCON
Ok, but this is not mridanga. Its a khol.
Cult
Yes.. Exactly he is none other than Anandmurti prabhuji... 😇🙏🙏
That girl was totally impressively
tremendous, not to mention the excellence of the mrdangam drummer.

What FUSION!! Brother and Sister!! I bless you live for 100 years to spread this message......
The girl was playing violin and tap dancing. She is amazing to watch. He was good matching her steps. It is hard to play violin or drums dancing. Overall it was great!
East and West.. Music combo here is the best💜👍🏽🤩
To be fair this is not a great combination, But they played really well it felt like medieval campfire.
AWESOME 👏
आनंद आ गया
Its amazing but not as unique as you think it is.
We often see these two instruments playing together in Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 Kirtans and that is why this combo sounded very familiar to me.
... As a Hindu Music Teacher ... This style is called Jugal_Bandí where the Drum plays a bit then stops and the Lovely lady Sings or tap dance or even plays notes to match what drum is playing 🧐... The Music Notes she is playing is Shudh Notes all straight Music Notes called Ràag Bílàawal🧐
For all those, debating about whether it is a KHOL or Mridanga, BOTH are the SAME thing,
it is now widely known as Khol in the Eastern and North eastern states of India
which was previously known as Mridanga when Sanskrit was prevalent,
also do not confuse with Mridangam,
Mridangam originates from the southern states of India in comparison to Eastern/North-eastern origin of Khol
both has a very similar constituent list of items consisting of Jackfruit wood along hollow earthen body with double sided drumheads made up of cow/goat/buffalo skin though modern ones can include synthetic drumheads
the striking main difference is in their structure,
Khol/Mridanga have a larger right drumhead and a significantly smaller left drumhead
as opposed to the Mridangam where although there is a difference in sizes of drumheads, the difference is much smaller in comparison
everyone : wow
me : her hair is so beautiful 🥰

Nice super
Wonderful, Anand made it more by dancing with her. 👍🙏
Very very good and beautiful performance, thank you for sharing this video
As mentioned in the title of the track.. the musician is playing a mrdanga (also known as khol) which is a popular instrument in Bengal. Mrdanga is often deemed as the poor man's tabla. The core body is made of clay. Mridangam which is a popular instrument from Southern India is made out of a jackfruit tree.
Yes this is Khol and not mridangam or mrdanga as referred - such basics must not go wrong
Nice Combination
The percussion instrument is not Mridanga, it is a Bengali instrument called 'KHOL'. But I must say both of them played very well!
This is called pure collaboration of Indo+western music.Jay ho mangal moy ho. Radhe Radhe..👍violine with sreekhol.👏👍🙏
Radhe Radhe 🙏🙏
Mrdanga is one of the major traditional instruments used in Bhajan (a song basically dedicated to god).
Unimaginable combination
Yes
i dont know why people are trolling them ,why don't they just enjoy this beautiful performance ......

Loved the ease with which the girl enjoyed her wonderful performance
That is a Kohl and not a mridangam. Kol is used in Chaitanya bhajans
Very nicely done. Creative. Enjoyed. She is doing nice foot tap dance along with the playing!
Duo made in heaven
Peerless...... peerless. The sound of violin & mridango are mixed & becomes a piecefull music. Both are thanks..... thanks.... thanks.❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Incredible. Violin and khol. This has the potential to be a professional musical duo act.

That was khol not mridanga, the footwork of the girl was excellent!

sound like Sharlok Homes & Byomkesh Bakshi solving a Case together❤ 😂😂😂
First Violin is dominated but in later part complete take over by Mridanga, Best combo i have ever seen, good luck both of uu❤❤❤❤
Nice 👍👍👍 excellent combination.
Wow! This was such a brilliant idea and performance. Although it incorrectly says American violin, the musical roots are Celtic which, incidentally, has a history with Indian music.

That's the excellent culture exchange i ever 👀 seen.

The is no existence of Mrdanga without Hare-Krsna
Non sense
Mridanga looks incomplete without Hare Krsna... 🙇♀️

Oh my God. Incredible...
This percussion instruments is called Khol from eastern India
Jugalbandi of violin n khol is awesome superb
Just outstanding 👏👌🙌👍
I was filled with happiness and excitement as I watched him play the legendary musical instrument "Mridanga”, also called as "Khol”. It is one of the most important musical instruments here, since I come from Tripura. But one should keep in mind that, before playing Mridanga, it's essential to take your shoes off.
Why take shoes off?
In traditional Hindu society, going barefoot is of prime importance. One way both rulers and ordinary folk pay respect to the temple deities is by approaching barefoot, a sign of respect, humility, and submissiveness. Since, Mridanga or Khol is a holy musical instrument, therefore it's necessary to be barefoot, while you play it. Regardless, it is solely dependent on one's personal will. Being barefoot is a way to pay your respect to this almighty instrument.🙏@@Pain53924
