I think the Beta is fantastic, the SP404 mk2 example you gave was only a test for youtubers and influencers. Not everyone is one, so this open beta being inclusive of everyone is good for the whole community. Dont see any negatives at all of doing this open beta for all. It also stops people from whining at Akai to release the firmware for all not just the exclusive youtuber club.
I think the success of the BETA release will depend on how stable the software is when they let us play with it. I hope it isn't a buggy mess and then we have to wait until next year to get something that works well, but from a customer feedback perspective it will definitely be valuable
Dude you make a really interesting point. A test for RUclipsrs... All over my feed I was seeing people fawning over 4.04 and beyond and the firmware was basically unusable for me, and even 4.05 breaks my project bpm and rec settings to a degree making resampling across banks a huge pain. I felt like I was legit being gaslit until I started bitching about it in the comments and finding other people were having the same issues.
Haha. They’ve finally adopted some MV8800/8000, BeatMaker 3, and Ableton Live/Force workflows with the Linear track view. It’s easy to adopt to. You’ll like being able to flip views and have the linear track view. I still use two MV8800’s and a Deluge which all have linear track views (song mode view).
I honestly feel like it's gonna have me go backwards, because I finally got to a point where my workflow is streamlined. I don't wanna sound like the grumpy old man, because it's looks beautiful, but I'm comfortable with what I have 🤷🏾♂️
@@fade2blak91 Exactly, a DAW does this even better that the MPC does. I’d use a DAW first. I got Studio One and Ableton Live installed. I like Song mode.
what i have already works on my MPC (2.14)so for me there's no rush on updating. I like the new color scheme the arranger view might be useful when tracking vocals and guitar Q. i wonder if looper screen sampling has finally got UNDO? Mutes seem broken in the beta so many people just can't bring themselves to use 3.0 beta
The beta seem smart, different hardware devices combined with all the possibilities of personal workflow 🤯 I’m excited for the official release… I’ll test the 3.0 beta if they wanna pay me in mpc plugins 😂
Since im new to the MPC OS and workflow, this new OS won't be a problem for me. Especially the GUI looks a lot better to me. I can wait until the beta testing is done. Catch all those bugs before the public rollout.
I think the 'public beta' thing is a good idea. Like you said, these days we are all beta testers anyway for any new firmware update for a product, so by Akai being transparent and labelling it beta, people won't be annoyed if there are glitches, because it isn't finished yet. It also means that people who don't want to experience bugs can stay on V2 until V3 is released. I think it's good that people have the option to stay on V2 for now or have V3 but with the caveat that it's beta for now.
Yo man thank you for your videos. Been following for a while now and I really appreciate your content (especially the sp 404 vids)! I’m from the uk and you sound pretty local. Have you got a social media link? Would love to connect and pick your brain. Thanks for the consistent uploads
As a user of the MPC, Force, and PUSH3/Ableton, I like the new MPC changes as it brings it closer inline with more common and faster workflows. The MPC forces us to switch screens so much to do even the most basic thing. It’s purely a muscle-memory device for the OGs, but the development of that muscle-memory is tedious and unnecessary in today’s world. This isn’t 1991. I love my MPC LIVE II but the workflow is, frankly, abysmal, and as a result, it’s my second-most unloved device I have-the SP404mk2 taking the top spot in that regard. As to the “Beta” release, I suspect that it might be the actual release, but just labeled as “Beta.” AKAI has been known to release horribly buggy software in the past several years-to the point where it has been the subject of very brutal (but honest) memes and jokes. If they release this as a “Beta” it’s a way to explain away the bugs and our expectation of perfection is lessened.
@@image66media no offense bro but I think the Mpc live workflow is way better than the garbage workflow of the 404 mk 2 . Imo the sp is a performance / sketching tool and the Mpc live is a beat maker / song maker
@@bike.krueger the Force. Unfortunately, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve had an update, and nearly all the new plugins in the MPC have not been available in the Force yet. The PUSH3 is a mixed-bag. Obviously, as an integrated Ableton controller, it’s an extremely powerful device. As a standalone device, it’s frustrating because you can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, just as with the MPC. Switching “modes” is a necessary and awkward thing to do with the MPC or PUSH3 when used as a live performance device. The Force is the best live performance-oriented device in this category. BTW, an interesting size comparison between the devices: The MPC LIVE II and the Force are actually the same size in volume-it’s just that one is wider and thicker, while the other is deeper. The PUSH3 is in-between as it is slightly wider than the Force, but not as deep. The common thought that people share that the Force is HUGE is actually not true-it’s just shaped in a way that makes it a little more awkward to fit.
@@Retro_Rhythm_Beats Agreed. It might not have been clear in my statement, but the SP404Mk2 is my most unloved device. I have it for a specific reason, but other than that specific reason, I find it quite abysmal to use.
I guess if you want that classic old slow processing and classic work flow u can always buy an old school MPC this update isn't the end of the world and it makes it easier with the elimination of programs that was my biggest struggle in the beginning the programs to track relationship

Relearning the gear is something I'm also not looking forward to lol! Thanks man
I’m with you on that! I feel like I would just make beats in a DAW if I wanted the new workflow. Perfectly fine with how things are now

It’s nice to have options. The old way works best for me. If I want to work the new way with the arranger, I’d just use one of my DAWs instead.
Looks amazing
Totally agree bro

Hello 😊 I also love gadgets around the PC, so I really enjoyed the video👌

Mutes seem broken in the beta so many people just can't bring themselves to use 3.0 beta
I've heard the rumour about mutes as well. I wonder if that's something they'll patch before it starts getting released to the public!
I wonder if mpc3 solved the click and pop problems associated with using an external audio interface?
Betas are always good to see the glitches people report and to see also how the market will react

What do you prefer over SP and MPC? The Push 3, or other devices, too?
