Did anybody notice how originally Jason Ratcliff said seven guys? Then he quickly changed it to six. Can't put all the blame on that extra crew member that hopped over the wall if the crew chief is saying "seven guys" on the radio.
I think it's funny how the fanbase disses Toyota until Matt Kenseth gets eliminated for a technicality, and then their hate for NASCAR's rules overcomes their hate for the Japanese.
Axel Rocha They have rules for a reason.. you can't break them. Is the penalty stupid? No. Is the punishment stupid? In my opinion, yes. Very excessive. Could they not just have a stop and go? It is literally just one extra guy over the wall, and their championship is done. Really unfair, I think.
Of course they have rules for a reason. The 20 team broke the rules on a breakdown in communication and they deserved a penalty. However, having to park the car and having your championship bid ended for one extra guy over the wall is absurdly excessive, and that rule needs to be reworked immediately.
The reason he was parked probably had to do with the whole 5 minute damage clock rule. A driver is supposed to be parked if he can't manage the 5 minutes, so the penalty unfortunately went in that direction. It's a new rule this year, so there's going to be loopholes or issues that come up at the worst times. Kenseth just got really unlucky for that reason.
It was only championship ending because of the specific circumstances involved. Its not like they can just waive the penalty that was set before the season because the team was near the cut line on the last race. That's not how life works.
Again, nobody said that the 20 team deserved an exception here. The rule was enforced correctly, as it should have been. What this incident brought to light, especially because of the championship implications, is just how excessive the penalty is and how badly it needs an update.
You know that this Chase format is an absolute travesty when the second (at least) best car all year is out of the round of 8 because of ONE bad finish. (Talladega he still got like 15th)
The only reason he got disqualified was because he was in the 5 minute repair clock. If he wasn't on the repair clock he would've just gone to the back
Wait, Harvick said he caught in the driver's meeting that you cannot drop below the apron prior to the start/finish but he did it ans wasn't penalized?
You gotta feel for Kenseth. He has had arguably the worst luck of all the nascar frontrunners. Dumb Rules, blind spotters, playoffs being created after his one win championship. If it wasnt for JJ, Kenseth would be a 3x Champion (2003,2006,2013) and could have won in 2015 & 2017 as well. This guy is in my top 10 all time even if the stats arent there
5:34 oh look, chase and denny did it here to.... granted it was denny blocking chase but nonetheless they both broke the rule, they should have definitely been disqualified. wtf is Nascar doing??
Well I guess credit one bank sponsor is good at blowing up engines. Last time Jamie McMurray was racing at Dover he was sponsoring credit one bank he blew up and now Larson
2017 was a very great year as a Truex fan. But I tell you, the kind of hate he had this year and every recent one for dominating or just winning any race in general is really annoying cause it's only when HE wins 🙄
I get what they're trying to do with the chase setup but it is unfortunate the whole season now comes down to one race. That can be said about any sport with playoffs, but there is so much in racing that is out of the hands of the driver or the crew that it shouldn't come down to one single race.
To be honest, I prefer that over someone clinching the championship three races prior. It's completely impossible to have a perfect points system, anyway. They all have serious flaws, if you look at them enough. Furthermore, I really think that many of the people who hate the chase format are people who don't like dealing with change. Even though they claim to give the format a chance, they really don't simply due to bias. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course, but I feel like the chase format is unfairly underrated.
Yeah from a fan perspective the chase format keeps it interesting. Would just be rough to see someone have a season like Truex then lose it because something wasn't screwed on tight off enough months ago in the engine shop (hypothetically speaking). From a driver perspective it can suck, but I also suppose without fans there is no sport so that's who you've got to keep happy!
Its starting to look like nascar picks who they want to win every year,.judging by all the other cars who seem to be in a lower class. I just dont see how 37 other cars cant compete with one. It doesn't add up. They need to do something to where these cars will hold the rd better, to achieve a more believable race. Too many drivers complaining of plowing. Clean air shouldn't be an excuse to just drive away. Smh
NASCAR's idiotic rules hurt them again. Just have end-of-the-line or stop-and-go penalties for guys with one too many men over the wall. I don't care that the "seventh man has to be servicing the driver," what matters is the principle that he's out there on pit road, regardless of what he's doing. The fact that Kenseth's championship hopes were ended like this show how much of a travesty this was.
except for that one wreck i was rather bored. since watching nascar since the early 80's i'm still getting let down as the years go by. wrecking is part of racing. don't like some one, get them loose and put them in wall, if you can't win. make sure they can't ether. (sets stopwatch)
So for the penalty that eliminated Matt Kenneth (right or not it was a rules violation) was caused by his crew chief @04:30. Said seven guys only six six, the seventh jumped over in the heat of the moment.
And then he says I sent 6 over and someone can’t count. BS you sent 7 over and quickly realized your mistake although in the heat of the moment the 7th guy heard 7 guys and went.
Sam Huitt How is he the champ is how im laughing there, im not even rooting for truex and hes got 7 wins and a dominant by far season so how is kyle the champ? Especially since he spent half the season screwing around. (Ik part of it was his crew ik)
Did anybody notice how originally Jason Ratcliff said seven guys? Then he quickly changed it to six. Can't put all the blame on that extra crew member that hopped over the wall if the crew chief is saying "seven guys" on the radio.
That’s a fair point
I think it's funny how the fanbase disses Toyota until Matt Kenseth gets eliminated for a technicality, and then their hate for NASCAR's rules overcomes their hate for the Japanese.
Majority of NASCAR fans are just that "smart".
ikr
The positive of McMurray getting eliminated is he FINALLY gets more than one line of dialogue in these things
Fetus 1227 THANK YOU
he didnt even actually say anything it was all his crew chief
That penalty for Kenseth was absolutely ridiculous and stupid.

I feel like MTJ is gonna win the championship this year. That team has been strong all year, put up a lot of wins, they deserve it IMO.
No shit
true, but the only problem with MTJ is he's not good at homestead
Wonder how his points would be under the winston rules.
Everyone said that about Larson and look what happened...
Brent W he has a 110 point lead on Kyle Busch and Larson with Winston cup points
You know that this Chase format is an absolute travesty when the second (at least) best car all year is out of the round of 8 because of ONE bad finish. (Talladega he still got like 15th)
The second best car all year, at least according to points, advanced to the round of 8. You're thinking of the THIRD best car all year.
Timothy Latham Honestly I forgot about Kyle Busch being just a hair better than Larson. My apologies.
Even with the old points system from the 90s he'd be out. No way to recover from losing 30 points in one race.
I agree. This chase format is horse shit.
Since the chase started its been stupid and every year or so they make it worse.
I think it’s stupid that he was disqualified or just have one extra guy over the wall
Yeah, and if he gets disqualified, so does Jimmie Johnson. He had 7 guys over the wall as well. NASCAR needs to be more consistent with penalties.
AwesomeMichael33 Jimmie is still in
#7 for Jimmie was to service the driver. He did a windshield tear off, and went right back over the wall. Was 100% legal.
Lucas Arthurs I hate Johnson but hes right
The only reason he got disqualified was because he was in the 5 minute repair clock. If he wasn't on the repair clock he would've just gone to the back
When Martin Truex jr won it got really emotional I almost cried that win for Jim he should of been really proud of him and that team.
Anyone realize that when they were talking about JJ he span?
TheWalrusManWithAPlan Jones wrecked right after they were talking about how he was in 3rd. Must have been another instance of announcer jinxing
Lol why is the MLB logo in the thumbnail??
Eric Gambrel
That’s a good question
Stephen Dunn it's a Nascar video tho.... I don't see the logo on their football videos anywhere.
Introducing new MLB radioactive
the graphic designer is getting FIRED
Fox sports maybe?
What are we doing here? NASCAR or ping pong?
Hursh Jain that's baseball
its a F1 reference. Sebastian Vettel
I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes both
Honestly.
XD wrong video
I was at this race! So happy truex jr won. Very proud!
3:57 perfectly preserves the sheer surprise of that moment. That usually gets lost in compilation; nice work from whoever edited this one!
They used to put that soundtrack back in 2014 i believe
Wait, Harvick said he caught in the driver's meeting that you cannot drop below the apron prior to the start/finish but he did it ans wasn't penalized?
Truex won on a mile and half track, what a shocker.
And there are still two more 1.5 mile tracks of the final 4 races.
It about time i been waiting for this
Same I miss some of the race
Jason Ratcliff "Pit Seven guys only" acts like he never said it at all
Did they ever explain why Harvick wasn’t penalized for following the 78s tire tracks?
Deja Vu, Matt Kenseth?
That was a bloody harsh penalty, though.
This guy is in my top 10 all time even if the stats arent there
Harvick went on the apron before the start too lmao
I'm baffled that they got the 78 and not get the 4 as well
Nascar is SO (expletive) AWESOME!
Yep
I didn't know baseball had a racing division
Silly Eric Jones. It's not dirt racing you're not supposed to get upside down.. but who am I to judge?
Matt took that better than expected
Alien Gaming Matt's a pretty chill guy, handled it a lot better than i would have.
Maybe Harvick should take notes at the drivers meeting for MTJ! 1:23
Frederick S. Cairo II yet he went below the line too 🤔
SHHHH, you're not supposed to argue with facts.
Lmao truth haha
Harvick said cant go below the line cause he caught it in the meeting yet he did it too lmfao
Jason Ratliff (crew chief) just told Matt Kenseths the biggest lie in NASCAR history lol
No
LOL the MLB on FOX logo on the thumbnail
Are competition yellows and stages going away next year or are they here to stay?
Wood brothers and Blaney got this
What is the competition yellow?
What's with the MLB logo XD You done goof Fox Sports
IKR
Matt Chaffe shut the fuck up
1:22 funny how harvick says that even though he did the exact same thing truex did. gg.
5:34 oh look, chase and denny did it here to.... granted it was denny blocking chase but nonetheless they both broke the rule, they should have definitely been disqualified. wtf is Nascar doing??
Was Kansas in Sunday?
Jackson StormNGRacer yes
Well I guess credit one bank sponsor is good at blowing up engines. Last time Jamie McMurray was racing at Dover he was sponsoring credit one bank he blew up and now Larson
Mile and a half Martin should be the new Concrete Carl
Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series
This is the first radioactive ive heard that Kyle busch hasn't talked
Matt Kenneth crew chief said 7 guys and then 6 guys he was the one who mess Matt Kenneth up
2017 was a very great year as a Truex fan. But I tell you, the kind of hate he had this year and every recent one for dominating or just winning any race in general is really annoying cause it's only when HE wins 🙄
And Everyone Thought That Kurt Busch Was A Lock To Win The Chip Cuz Monster
I feel bad for Larson but it's not the first time something like that has happened
Kyle in 2014 and Jimmie in 2015 were the same situation
The BossMan78 you're right about Truex, Brad had to win dega to advance
NO #1
When matt kenseth was done from the penalty, I was made
Obviously truex deserves the championship but anything can happen in homestead. So don’t be suprised when Hamlin or (insert driver).
Wins it
Jimmie- *gets slapped in the face*
Kasey Kahne
NASCAR + Baseball interesting
At this point, if Truex doesn't win the championship, i'm goanna be suprised
GraveDigger35 Watch someone like Kasey Kahne win it
What happened to just racing .
ALMOST HAD A FLIP AT KANSAS
That’s really unlucky for Larson
“Watch the red flag Jason” -Jason ratcliff?
Jason is also the name of Matt's spotter.
Who's ready to watch the Martin Truex Jr racing show this weekend? (I'm gonna go see the race in person!)

All my hope now rests on ryan blaney
Mikey likes video games What about Kasey Kahne?
Way to pass the buck crew chief. That cost Matt a lot
I live in kansas
Good
yellowflames I agree with you.
Matt Kenseth won't be able to win the championship and
this might be his last season
TheSavageGamer 48 Unless another team signs him like Richard Childress or Stewart Hass, it looks like right now he's done.
100% the crew chief of the #20 on that one that's his job to know the rules
Kevin Schmid man hes such an idiot 😒😒
Jimmie sent 7 guys over in a pit stop and he got no dnfm#Rigged4Jimmie
It's sending 7 guys to service the car that's illegal. Jimmie's 7th guy served the driver. That's completely legal.

Yes Kyle advanced
So Kyle Larson got eliminated?
I know Stenhouse, Kenseth, and McMurray got eliminated.
Kyle advanced with the stage points from stage 1
Worst season in nascar fell asleep every race
😀

This is pathetic for all the nascar fans like me cause we see the same freaking dude win every week
The person who made the thumbnail needs to go home. MLB? No this is nascar lol
