I have had the VP9 9mm since 2019. Love the ergonomics and best trigger in a striker fired pistol. Bought several 17 round magazines. I use 124 grain +P JHPs and feel very confident that it will not let me down when something goes bump in the night. I also have a Streamlight TLR-1 1,000 lumen underground light.
I had the HK P30 and traded it for the VP9. I also have the HK USP full size 45ACP. HK is a first in the world manufacturer that makes…..”GET YOU HOME EVERY DAY” They work. VP9 has the best striker fire trigger that I have experienced and I have a new Walther PDP. The modularity of the handle side and back straps gives the best versatility of ANY handgun sold that I am aware of. I have been able to hit very well with it. I changed out the front sight to a tritium night sight. Great pistol!
@@mattmurphy7030 My P30’s trigger was hard to feel the break on and for me hard to shoot. I have 2 CZ 75’s full size and compacts that have great triggers. The HKVP9 has a great trigger and I have both the compact and the SK Sub Compact. Also I have the Walther PDP compact that is touted to have the best striker fire trigger, but the VP 9 is better
@@cliffleath7983 I hear you, the trigger is definitely a sore spot. I've got the DA/SA and DA feels long while SA has a crazy long reset. The CZ is a beautiful gun. Cheers
@@cliffleath7983 did you get a lemon lol my Vp9s trigger is great but nowhere near my PDPs level for me the best ootb striker fired triggers are as follows CZP10C Walther PPQ/PDP HKVP9 In that order
The VP9 has been my daily carry for the past 9 years. I have upgraded the trigger and sights and even replaced the barrel last year. I asked an HK rep about the slide returning to battery when a magazine is slammed into position. He said it was an "unintentional" design feature. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance for him to elaborate. Personally I like it. I have smaller hands and it save quite a bit of time bringing my sight to target without having to shift my grip to manipulate mag release. With a little practice you will find how much force is needed...or not needed.
I have the VP40, and got it because of the trigger. I didn't know it was possible, but who do I talk to about making the trigger better than it already is? You have peaked my interest
@@RdeneckTech Take a look at the Lazy Wolf Triggers at HK parts net. I installed their F2 flat face. Although they are expensive and a real pain to install, it was worth it.
I thought mine was malfunctioning at first, but then found out that slamming the mag into a locked slide will drop the lock and chamber a round. The only way I can ensure that it happens everytime is to constantly practice shoving the mag in with authority.
Good review! I have a VP9-B with the standard button mag release and its my favorite striker fired pistol. It fits my hand like it was tailored just for me. I use the large side panels with the medium backstrap. I agree with the comments about the torture tests. I've been a police officer for 17 years and I've never found myself in any situation like those "tests" put these guns through. In my opinion they don't have much validity for real world use.
The VP9 is my main sidearm that I train with. Got rid of the cocking assist ears and installed factory flat ones. Also changed out the backplate for a solid aluminum plate, eliminating the round cocking indicator window. Much cleaner sight picture now. And honestly, those "features" were pretty silly and unnecessary.
I love mine. I have the optics ready one. I got mine last year with the tritium sights and three mags. They are not suppressor height. The only polymer gun I have that is comparable is the Walther PDP. Mine’s never failed me. Not a hiccup. You can’t compare this to a Glock. It is much better and as robust if not more so in my opinion. The trigger and shooting experience are sooo much better. The paddle release is awesome. You can get it with the trigger finger and thumb or I can. I adjusted to it quickly and like it. I do have bigger hands though. Great shooter. I hate torture tests. If you take you gun and pour sand into it, it is that dumb.

Very good choices!
Idk about best trigger. I’d take a PDP, Canik or P10 trigger over the VP9 trigger - it’s not even close

Why'd you trade in the P30? I just got one and love it

Very concise comparison and review, best I've seen so far on the vp9!
Love seeing reviews on a gun I own. Thanks for doing this one.
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!

Excellent comparison. Your voice comes across as very steady and clear.👏👍
If the HK is a BMW, then the Glock is a Honda 😊
Agreed 100%
Glock 19 is def the Toyota Corolla of pistols lol
💯 👍

Great overview. Thanks mate
Thanks for the review. I love HK and I've shot this gun. It's a pretty solid gun.

I enjoyed this video. Educational and resourceful.
A very good review. The HK recoil spring is supported to reduce recoil by 30%
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I like the recoil impulse of the Glock better but that VP9 trigger is sick. Curious to see how the Glock performance trigger stacks up to it.

My 2 favorite brands HK and Glock both are great I agree with everything you said
Try pushing down at 90 degrees on the magazine release. Like almost using the tip of your finger where the nail is.
10/10 review

every cop and gangsta dream to have one
Anybody try the rail mount comp of the regular vp9?
well done vid.
Thanks for the feedback. More to come
Porsche. v. Dodge review. VP9, P320, & P365m Xmacro are really the only total quality strikers on the market.
Glock 17 is actually a bit larger than the Vp9.
no, g17 is half an ounce lighter. What i don't understand why does the vp9 have the size of the g17 but the barrel size of the g19.
My brother has the VP9 but he shoots the Glock G45 better. Both great pistols.
Dope review
Thanks!

Agreed there! It's very easy to put multiple bullets in the same hole with the vp9
I have the VP40, and while it is heavier, the accuracy makes me look like I know what I'm doing at the range haha
