My brother flew in from N California to see this. I live in Sierra Vista so we went for three days. Managed to see Kino, 22nd and Oracle . It was exhausting but fun. He's planning to drive drive next time so he can drive all his goodies home.

It is a lot of work to attend these shows, and it gets overwhelming, but it is soooo fun! I also went to 22nd, and I have a video I plan to release. Next year I am going to Pueblo. Love the gem shows in Tucson!

By the way, what treasures did you get? Going to share in an upcoming video?

Ah I was going to put what I bought but I ran out of steam lol! I found some awesome sleeping beauty turquoise cabochons and also a Chrysocolla one. And I bought some Mexican opal and those earrings. Not a big haul, I was focused more on the video production this year. And you're very welcome and let me know if you end up going next year!

I never buy anything at the main show except if I leave an offer with the seller and let them try to sell it for more during the show. I normally get calls at the end of the show looking to sell so they don't take it home. You're crazy if you're paying the sticker price at the main show because the prices are as high as possible. It's the outlier because for the most part the prices in Tucson are as cheap as you find in the US because it's super competitive and the main source of rocks for every small shop all over the country.

It's true the main show is retail prices and bargaining is a good idea. That's some good advice for getting deals. I can't believe how much they pay for a booth there I believe it is $5k just for the booth and I heard many struggled last year. But it's fun to see the main show at least once.

Oh my goodness we are sooo much alike. I also do not like waiting in lines. I was dying laughing when you explained the price difference between Ticketmaster and buying at the show. I would’ve done the same. When I started really getting into collecting, like serous collecting it started with looking for geodes. (I’ve always collected but just for the shapes and such I had no clue rocks and minerals were so beautiful) anyways I would say I’m into agates and geodes not really into crystals or not really into this or that. Now I am into any rocks and minerals I can find. Also I have nothing is cheap with rock hounding. Only finding the stones. The equipment is expensive gear to look for stones is expensive (thankfully my husband had many tools already) with that said that expense is well worth it. I have a cabbing machine, tile saw and two rock polishers that are two 3lbs barrels rock polishers. My cabbing machine is Vevor and the rock polishers are from harborfreight. Good deals compared to the other machines. And perfect for what I do. I am struggling to identify rocks properly and struggling to understand how everything is formed, struggling to explain to others how they are made the difference between rocks and minerals. I will get it sooner or later.
That overwhelming feeling you explained I totally get. I get that way at gun shows. And this one spot in the Wickenberg area where there’s a spot just full of thunderegg, geode, fossils I just don’t know what these rocks are. They are extremely hard but not pretty enough to be thundereggs and I’ve only found one that was a geode. There are just so many of them. It is overwhelming. But oh so joyful. I go to that spot and instantly get a headache due to the amount of these rocks.
Lastly all of these stones, in your video are so stunning beautiful. Thank you so much for taking us there with you. I could not make it this year. I definitely appreciate the offer you sent me awhile back and hopefully will be able to meet you next year at the rock show. And hopefully I will have learned more. My fear is buying fake rocks and minerals. Shame they allow them at the gem show without clearing posting they are man made stones and minerals.
I enjoyed this greatly thank you 😊 you were right I loved this video.

Well I am totally jealous of your lapidary equipment, I literally have nothing but I really want to take it to the next level with stone polishing, I will look into the harbor freight recommendations!
Actually I think my next video will be a tutorial on finding gemstones in the wilderness, I've been wanting to do that topic for a while and now I think I have the experience to do it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the gem show! I also made a video for the 22nd street show while I was there for a future release. Oh and I'm making a mobile geode cutting device to open them up in realtime. I found a promising spot for geodes while I was camping!

@@RusticSkills I wish I could post a picture on here. But I just noticed on my 3rd wheel there’s like a rip in it. Not sure how I did it. I spend a great deal on the 1st wheel( I believe 80grit diamonds wheel) then a bit of time on the 2nd Wheel (I believe 220diamond wheel) so going into the 3rd wheel no sharp edges or anything to get hung up as it’s the clothe like material (sorry idk the sales after the diamond wheels) Silicon carbine I believe? But even my diamond wheels are wore down. I’ve had that since beginning of November and really haven’t polished a lot. And definitely not all hard stones such as agates. With the last 3wheels they are holding up very well. BUT the 2nd to last wheel (so idk the grit but just before 3000 grit) that wheel from the beginning felt damaged. I can actually feel an indention. I’ve tried to find the same brand wheels as the Machine but it’s starting to become frustrating. I believe any wheels that have the same arbor size would work, but I’m sure all would have to be replaced at the same time as to stay balanced. So the reason I’m telling you is I’m giving like a review for you or any followers that see this comment can decide if they want to purchase the Vevor. I believe for me, just learning or even someone a little more advanced with lapidary equipment it’s perfect. The motor seems to be very good. I’m please. Considering other equipment is 2 times the cost. This wadi believe $850. I’ll update about the wheels once we get new ones. Thankfully they were birthday and Christmas gifts. Cause using sand paper is very hard on the hands.
Oh I’d love that video a lot. I struggle so hard. Idc how many videos I watching still don’t identify the mass majority at of what I find correctly. I sometimes figure out how wrong or right I am once it get polished or cut open. And most of the Arizona accounts haven’t been in Arizona. Haha I need to see Arizona finds not Oregon, CA, Washington and so on. I’ve also been thinking of purchasing rocks that are positively identified. So I can feel then see exactly what they look like in person. I believe that would help a lot. That is the only way I’d buy rocks. Cause it’s fun to find identity and polish the stones I find. Not so much fun to buy unpolished/rough rocks.
I never thought I’d be so excited about gem show videos but here I am excited to see what else you have to post in the future. I do enjoy all of your content not just the rock, minerals and gem content.
I’m sorry I spent so much time on the cabbing machine. I wouldn’t want any to not know about good and bad about that machine.

Great information, I plan on driving over from San Diego 2025. A few questions - by the last weekend are the specimens picked over, do some sellers from the first week also get booths at a different venue the second week, can you cover multiple shows in one day, do sellers scoop up the best deals early and resale the second week. Are there better shows if you’re looking for thumbnail specimens.
2025 is months away and I’m stressing out already.

Hi there! The last weekend is the only weekend with the big show at the convention center. Many other shows are ended by that last weekend, but the big show is super awesome. The big show has most everything but I think the prices are a bit higher, nothing is picked over and you can bargain on the final day. The 22nd street show is going on as well and looked good last year. I didn't see any thumbnail specimens outside of the big show but I also wasn't looking. 2025 I am planning on hitting the other shows like the Pueblo and the JGX shows at all the hotels.
