- The Voigtlander Vito C is a little-known compact 35mm camera from the early 1980s. Never heard of it? Neither had I until a few years ago, but it quickly became one of my favourite pocket cameras. Find out why!

I really liked my Vito CS, which I bought new, many years ago. The drawbridge broke on mine. It's been 'repaired' but unfortunately, it's definitely not the same as before. I did look for a replacement, but I think they were expensive in the UK when I looked. I have many cameras, but now use a Minox ML as my primary compact 35mm film camera. Thanks for the video.
have one I bought in early 1980's with the attached flash. Still works fine, takes amazing photos Came with presentation caser and small case
Lovely - glad to hear they last this long in regular use!
That lean back was a bit of genius, and I really like the little color pop as well. Really added a lot to such a desaturated scene. The BW’s turned out awesome too..good save!
Love these things, I keep the Balda version with the +2 compensation switch in my jacket at all times. Hot tip: if you do a half press of the shutter it will exposure lock, very handy for contrasty light.
One thing i recognised, trying to set the camera to ASA 800 - there is no such setting. ASA 640 and 1000 are the highest settings.
You're absolutely right. I've found that shooting at 1000 and rating the film at 800 isn't an issue, however. It's half a stop.
Hi Stephen, never heard of this camera either. Many thanks.
No problem - hope you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for the video, will pick up my own Vito C tomorrow. The local dealer has it for 25€ on sale with new batteries. Hope it works since all my Minox 35 models (35GT, 35ML and 35EL) are not working properly.
That's a great price - hope it works well for you!
Hi, your pix are very good. You should do a video or two about your style; where, when and why, etc. (Keep up the good work.)
Many thanks for that! I may do that in the future. It's 20+ years of practice and enjoying the work of other photographers, mostly.
You can find these cameras in Germany for way lower prices. 30 Pounds for one in good condition is not uncommon.
Enjoyed your work though - as always!
The Balda branded camera I have seenin the US was a BALDA CA 35. I've never seen that model of Vito here. How does it compare to the herd of similar cameras: Minox 35 series, Contax T, Ricoh FF-1, etc.?
I'm super impressed with the results, the lens is sharp and contrasty and well coated.
Results so far here:

Hmmm great now which one do I choose? Contax T, Vito C or to maybe Ricoh FF-1s?
Vito C, no contest. (I like the FF though.)
@@kosmofoto Couldn’t find a clean Vito C, but did find a good deal on a Vito CS. Which I assume just added a self timer. At 100 euros. Was worth the purchase now that ive discovered Kosmofoto, Thank you
Minox hads somehow a little annoying rhomboidal aperture, what about the Vito C? Thanks
I will have to check, but I think it's different.
