I feel the audio book is better to understand the POVs, but I personally hated the prince's POV. The voice actor for him gets super quiet at times while other times he will be "normal" volume. I am glad you felt the same about this book as I did though lol

ohhhh the dreaded first person present tense. I despise it.
But using that method for multiple characters is... no.
... ...
So gonna take that off my wishlist XD
