- animal crossing has always had some of the craziest merchandise across its franchise history. from shirts board games, plushies and stuffed animals to things specially dedicated to each game. Wild world City folk, new leaf, new horizons all have mangas, wild world even had an anime. lets take a closer look.

I got a couple of the Colourpop eyeshadow palettes when they went on sale, and I definitely don't regret them! The makeup quality is good! I've worn it out on several occasions.

I'm glad that you covered the Build-A-Bears! I work at Build-A-Bear Workshop and I LOVE our Animal Crossing friends!! Fun fact: they each have "secret sounds" if you scan their tag on our sound machines! They each have the New Horizons theme, Isabelle and Tom Nook each have sounds of their voices, and KK Slider has an assortment of KK songs you can choose from!! Bubblegum KK is, of course, one of the options x3 They're so much fun!!!
I want more animal crossing BAB plushies. I absolutely adore my 2 Isabelle's and need to get tom nook.

For the socks, since I have some niche knowledge: novelty socks are generally more expensive than regular socks because of how many colors are needed. High quality novelty socks are either woven a specific way, embroidered, or both. Multiple colors of yarns and threads are used, and it’s a highly specific design that has to be programmed into multiple machines. $13 for two pairs of a super niche fandom’s socks is actually a steal!
the colourpop makeup was really well priced at the time, and they used the same formula for their other products. I already liked the brand so I picked up the Abel Sisters quad and I still have it!
Colourpop is a very popular brand not aimed at kids, the price is definitely reasonable for the quality! They often do collabs with IP’s like Star Wars and Disney! It’s common now among drugstore and high end brands!
The build a bear franchise is huge!!! Also it has a crazy huge adult following. They are even gearing Bear specifically for adults. I own all of the ACNH BABs, bought then right when they dropped.
The colourpop makeup was actually well-priced before it was discontinued! Definitely not for kids either, their formulas are great and made for some fun looks :)
Also, the Nintendo Stores in Japan, including online, always have Animal Crossing goods for sale, and they often do seasonal sets of stuff, including real dishes and stuff. It's almost always classy-looking, and well made. I would kill for that stuff to be sold here. Oh, and back when the OG Animal Crossing came out, there was a series of tiny house dioramas that you could by in Japan, and they were adorable. They had puzzle-piece bases that you could connect together to make a village.

When I went to Japan back in Nov 2019, the Nintendo store in Shibuya just opened. They were selling Animal Crossing themed marshmallows. They were just regular white cylindrical marshmallows with villager faces printed on to them 😅

i actually think its really cool how diff AC monopoly plays, it makes it feel like an original board game that just happens to have some monopoly theming. my one complaint is how theres nearly 300 TOKENS with no way to organize them. they all just shuffle together once you put it back in the box, makes it a pain to set up each time too. i had to make my own divider just so everything gets put away neatly after playing
Yesss I came here to say this. The game is actually much more enjoyable to me than regular Monopoly, but those tokens are just so messy 😭
I am an avid build a bear shill, and lemme tell you, the way that the ACNH build a bears are structured is based on the clothes. The toys are all structured so they fit the maximum amount of clothing build a bear can fit them in because their clothes are EXPENSIVE more expensive than people clothes sometimes. So if the toys cant fit the clothes properly, they basically lose out on sales. Thats why they might be shaped..... weird.

One thing I didn't see you mention that I absolutely love when I picked up (it may have been a Gamestop exclusive?) Is the Animal Crossing "Holiday Bundle" box. Everything was winter themed and it came with a wool blanked, two coasters of Isabelle and Tom Nook, a canvas shopping bag, and a heat-changing mug which reveals Timmy, Tommy, Nook, and Isabelle playing in the snow when hot liquid is poured into it. It was $29.99 at the time and I thought it was great

I bought the colourpop x acnh makeup. It was way more affordable on the colourpop website. I mean I am sure some parents did indeed order it for their kids, however it is really good quality makeup for an affordable price. I still use the brown quad everyday. I believe it’s the blathers eyeshadow set. I use it daily and for whatever reason I can’t remember for sure who’s on it.😂😅

Build a bear has crossovers with nintendo all the time. One that reoccurring is their pokemon stuff. I'm pretty sure all their cross promotions with companies keep them in business because of collectors
The animal crossing/colourpop collab was the best. I use the lip tints regularly still. Colourpop is known in the makeup world for doing lots of collabs and their makeup is great quality for a good price.
I played the monopoly a few times, Id say it was just alright as a board game, but I thought the way they changed the game to fit the vibe of animal crossing more was actually pretty well done.
I agree that some fanmade merch looks better than official merch. Sometimes it's like the fans know the game better than the company who MADE the game do. For example, Poppy Playtime Merch. Huggy wuggy in-game looks like a really good quality stuffed toy. So do Bunzo and CatNap. But the plushies made by Mob Games? They look like bootleg plushies you'd win at a rigged carnival booth, while the plushies fans make look more accurate to the characters in-game. Like how could you mess up a stuffed toy of a stuffed toy in a game YOU MADE so badly?! I wanted to buy a Bunzo plush so bad but i went to look one up and decided nope. Never again. That thing would give me nightmares and does NOT look like Bunzo Bunny.
So I have the KK Slider (he plays KK Disco) and my sister has Tom Nook Build-a-Bear & they 100% look so much better in person (the add does them dirty) 😂
i find your criticisms of the animal crossing build a bears so funny because for me it's the complete opposite, i think the standard plushies look kinda off and that the build a bears look more on model LMAO. i always wanted a kk plushie but thought that the standard one looked derpy so i was so happy that kk was part of the build a bear lineup :')

I agree that at first it seems weird that Hot Topic carries pop culture stuff when they're so punk/goth oriented, but it's literally in their name... They'll stock the current trend or "hot topic."

The set at 8:05 isn’t actually something you can buy, but a lottery. They’re usually run at convenience stores and you buy a ticket at a set price. When you open the ticket, it has a letter in it ranging from A to E/F/G depending on the number of prizes. A is the best prize and there’s usually only one of them per store. G is the lowest and smallest prize and there’s a bunch of them. And then there’s usually a neat last ticket prize for the person who buys the last ticket. Nintendo runs these for most of their popular game series. I got to do the Tears of the Kingdom one back when I was living in Japan, but an Animal Crossing one would’ve been pretty sweet.

Build a bear is usually one of the most successful stores even in dying malls! And colorpop is a low price fair quality makeup brand popular with the makeup community, not aimed at kids.

i bought the animal crossing makeup collab the day it dropped for about $115 USD i think, but it was for ALL of it. every single product. and it was completely worth it. colourpop is wonderful quality!!! ugh i wish it was a permanent collection
With the build a bear thing… I have never thought about Toms bodyshape… but for me it looks quite accurate 😅 but that is maybe the effect of being a singelparent to Timmy and Tommy 😅

I have the Colour Pop Animal Crossing lip crayons and Isabelle eye shadow pallette. They're genuinely my favorite sets of makeup because of how vibrant they are.
I have 2 of the 3 collector boxes these photos don’t do it justice!! The Isabelle figure is actually so cute in person lol the photo does make it look like a weird knock off, the first one had a “dice” calendar that had Timmy and tommy
Alsooo!! I don’t remember exactly the prices of them because they were gifts! But I remember seeing them in stores and they couldn’t have been more than 24-27 dollars
7:56 TIP FOR THIS SITUATION! If you reaaaally want to get the item at the store and it’s like a booth selling it, show them the price online and they’re usually like “oh oh I’ll do you one better!” And toss their prior price out the window and try to combat the official price.
I'm actually so happy I found this because I love learning about the different merch Animal Crossing's had over the years. I pre-ordered that New 3DS set @ 17:28 when it first got announced and still have it! Can confirm it comes with the Isabelle plates as well as a set that looks like the cover of the physical game's case (minus the logo) when the halves are put together. It even came with a poster as a pre-order bonus!
The Colourpop x Animal Crossing collab is also just a really nice set of makeup; I have the eyeshadow palettes plus a blush I still use. They restock the collection now and then if you're lucky! It's definitely a pick for anyone who loves AC and makeup, kids and adults alike!
And yeah, the Build-A-Bear Isabelle definitely looks better in person than the images, can confirm. Perfectly plush and her head-to-body ratio isn't nearly as weird as the promo images.

That's around the amount I think I paid for some Golden Toe socks at Target, like 5 pairs for about $15-17. Plus the designs while not AC related are nice. I think those no show AC socks priced okay even if I wouldn't buy no show socks myself.
I got myself KK Slider at build-a-bear literally a week ago.
His face is honestly only a TINY bit funky looking but he's pretty dope. As an Australian though I tend to have to take what I can get when it comes to merchandising though, so I haven't seen Nook or Isabell anywhere yet sadly

I collect Animal Crossing merch, including the Ichiban Kuji prizes from Japan. I was so surprised this week to see they announced a new collection being released next week- it had been a couple of years since they ran it! I’m hoping this means they’ll announce a new game or remastered prior game soon! 🤞🏻
colourpop does alot of random collaborations, like they did one with the grinch and another with Naruto and they're kind of just collectors items for people really into makeup, the makeup isn't bad though, but alot of their collabs turn into collector items and resale for alot of money
9:33 my ex bought me the winter outfitted Tom Nook Build-a-Bear for my birthday in 2022 and I adore it. I PROMISE they aren’t as ugly in real life as the promos made them look. He even has a little voicebox in his paw that makes noises, and he talks!! the only thing I hate is that Build-a-Bear DOESNT sell the summer outfit separately from the plush (I found out there’s a teeny tiny stitch that keeps the outfit on the plush), so I’d have to buy a completely new Nook if I just wanted the summer outfit… best gift I’ve ever received though. Very much worth getting and having.
Build a bear does a lot of stuff with pokemon so it makes since to me to do something from animal crossing. Also I randomly have PEZ dispensers for Isabelle, Tom Nook, and KK Slider

5:29 I got that box, the functional stuff is neat (I keep the bag in my backpack in case I need an extra bag,) the little keyring leaf has been on mine for a couple years now, and the bottle with recipe card (which I'm afraid to use as a key ring, since the cork isn't secured in the bottle in any way) has been on top of my monitor.
Edit: Oh yeah, I wrap the blanket around my shoulders when it gets chilly. On an adult, it's like lap/shoulder sized. (It's draped over the back of my desk chair right now.)
Cool video! Anything branded AC for me is a 10/10, so last year I asked for the limited HHD 3DS XL for my birthday. There was a lot of hoops to jump to get it, the console I got is used, but it still looks and plays really well. Definitely a cool collection piece.
If I were to choose a favourite Animal Crossing merch it would be:
The ACNH themed consoles. I only have the Switch
The Build-A-Bear Plushies
The 3rd party Switch controllers
The Club Mochi Pillows
And also there was a time that Seattle Aquarium did a collaboration with Animal Crossing. It’s based on the museum rally stamp that happened in May when playing New Horizons. They put alot of cutouts, posted QR codes and posters about a sea creature, put a sleeping Gulliver on a rock display, and has a display selling the stuff toys in the gift shop.

I feel like the normal plushes look mishapen or incorrectly stuffed and the Build A Bear are more consistent.

About the Godiva chocolates; yes they were a collaboration in Japan. And they are “constantly sold out” cause they don’t make them anymore - they were available for about a month or two only. 👍👍👍
Also the ICHIBANKUJI is like a lottery thing; you pay ¥800 and get a random item (they are usually kind of a poor quality please don’t expect some amazing merch) - they are the equivalent of of those American sets. Also I love fat B-A-B Tom Nook! My friend sent me one all the way from US 👍🫶

Speaking of monopoly! The one i grew up with was a john deere set. Barns and silos were replacing houses and hotels, and you could lose money in a drought.

You're definitely wrong about Build-A-Bear dying years ago! It's still pretty huge!! KK also had several other songs you could get with him. I can't remember exactly which ones but they definitely had Bubblegum KK. But yeah, especially now that they are targeting adult collectors with frogs, axolotls, and other viral animals as well as a whole 18+ section of their website for more adult IPs (Outlander, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Rick and Morty, etc), Build-A-Bear is still massssiiivveee.
About the build a bear thing, I think they mainly focus on the uk, they used to have more stores but still have a semi-significant presence here across the pond, I’ve got a Kk and Tom nook one, because for some reason my family think plushies are the go too gift for everything XD, but in all seriousness it’s pretty decent quality, would recommend, nook inc approved if you will XD

Colour Pop is a very good quality affordable brand. They come out with a lot of collabs for pop culture things like Sailor Moon, Disney, and recently Naruto. The Animal Crossing collection was not aimed at kids but everyone who loves makeup and Animal Crossing.
I have the Tom Nook Build-A-Bear and I can CONFIRM that they are way better in person than how the site portrays 'em lol. I love my Tom Nook so much, he's super snuggly. Personally though, I would die for a Blathers one. Also, I desperately need that vinyl. XD

I actually took an entire month to MAKE, thats right MAKE a Animal Crossing themed game of Clue. I painted cards, hand sculpted weapons, and painted the board.
I was so proud of it, and its definitely handmade. (In case you guys are wondering, Tom Nook was the one who died)
The build a bear makes me laugh because it’s totally still a thing. I get my kid 2 a year. Chuck E. Cheese is also still a thing but definitely if you don’t have kids there would be no reason for it

They're not those socks though it was actually a 5 pack of ankle socks that I came across at GameStop for $10 & each pair has the face of an AC character so it's got Tom Nook, Isabelle, Timmy & Tommy (together), K.K. Slider, & Rosie & If I wear them with slides & go out to the doctor's office or something I'm surprised at how many other adult fans there are who recognize it & compliment them immediately & tell me how they play AC too. It's kind of funny but also wholesome picturing these professional nurses getting off from a long hard day at work & breaking out their Switches to play ACNH at the end of the day.
This last thing I just wanna say it, I have Mandalorian socks too. That's all. haha
I agree that the sock prices felt too high, and in my experience unfortunately that pricing is pretty typical for novelty socks
so I just got back from Japan - and my god for a game with no updates there is SO much AC merch (and i love it). I ended up spending so dang much on AC at the Nintendo store and even bought Dōbutsu no Mori for the N64 in a shop i just happened to pass by...

One weird ACNH collab was the Vita coconut water collab. The drink wasnt changed or anything, they just slapped AC characters on the label. I still have a bottle of it in my closet lol.

i still have the few individual colourpop items i bought in 2020 and love them, they're pretty good quality!! (in fact i still use them) also i only just learned yesterday about the vinyl, that's so cool!! i wish it would release in the west, or that the soundtracks could be put on spotify
Back in like 2013 or 2012 I had an Animal Crossing shirt from Hot Topic that was all black, had Tom Nook on it then in all white letters it was captioned "Forever A Loan." I don't know whatever happened to it but this video made me think of it 💙

U know the build-a-bear thing made me so sad because I recently found out they had sanrio and animal crossing build a bears and I love them things but the build a bear in my city closed. So i'd either have to travel to a different city or buy them online (and lets face it its much more fun to actually stuff your own bear etc)

Picked up some really nice Animal Crossing socks for under $10 on Amazon. A yellow pair with an embroidered K.K. Slider for Saturday wear and a pink pair with an embroidered Isabelle for Sunday wear.
Also got the Animal Crossing New Horizons special edition Switch as well as the two soundtrack sets that came out.
