I did this method without success. It's been 3 weeks and my orchid stems only have the barest
suggestion of nodule sprouts. I bought some orchid stems that must've been old. Even with me
soaking them, this process is not a sure thing. While I mist daily, I think my area is too shaded
for this process. I've moved the plastic trays from warm areas to cooler spots and still, no
difference. I've spayed with garlic water and all I find is a strong unpleasant odor from the garlic.
I even sprayed with orchid fertilizer and that only helped slightly.
I suspect one thing though...and that is the orchid growing greenhouses are short staffed these
days and the plants are only getting adequate care. Fertilizing is missed.

This isn’t breeding, propagation like any cutting but not breeding. Orchid breeding is like all breeding, it’s a sexual process male parts ie pollen to female parts by hand unless you just happen to have the right pollinator close by. Or you have a plant like a Vanda or the occasional Cattleya that the wind or insects or hummingbird that does its job but usually it’s by hand. I have seen these growing on wire greenhouse benches - the entire cane just lying on its side and in very humid greenhouses and they will make shoots up and down and then they cut them in sections and pot up until more mature.
After breeding and pollination has occurred, the ovary swells behind the flower and becomes the pod. Then you wait a number of months for the pod to mature, then the actual seeding is done under sterile conditions in a lab.
I think the translation is not very good in the system.
