LONG Slow Train at Big Railroad Crossing

- Long slow train at big railroad crossing featuring FEC 222 with the Gevo LNG tender 816 leading and 803 & 436 the Pink Lady aka the Susan G Komen unit trailing. This is one of the bigger crossings in this city although not the biggest I've seen. This train was headed to Jacksonville from Hialeah Yard and it is a mixed freight. As always, there is a gate runner too.

Those people waiting for it to pass must be pissed. People get so angry at railroad crossings up here, I'm sure they do down there as well. Everybody's in a rush, you know how that goes. I'm probably the only person in the state that enjoys getting stuck behind rail crossings.
Also, I believe this particular locomotive successfully shut down the other half of the state LOL. What an incredible setup
@@railrol82 yeah, everybody is in a hurry to go nowhere these days. And honestly we have mostly passenger trains here in Connecticut. Even the Freighters aren't that long. You sit at The Crossings maybe a minute or two at best.
Also the main intersection in town that I cross everyday is a block from the train station that I film at times. Even when the train stops to let people on and off, you are not at that gate longer than a minute or 2.
I don't see what the big deal is,
Sit back, throw your car in park, and enjoy a simpler piece of History for 1-2 minutes of your day lol
Awesome train video. Can you suggest to train people to cut the branches off near signal so people can see gate better. The branches are covering the view of gate.
I used to own a house next to the FEC tracks in West Palm Beach by Forest Hill Blvd and Georgia Ave. back in 2005. Hurricane Wilma came through and destroyed my house. I loved sitting on the front porch watching the trains go by. At night they would rock me to sleep.
Guessing house not rebuilt then.
Nice grade crossing video. Very pretty setting. Good video.
Great Video the Mechanical Bells sound good too, that freight train went on for a long time but it was going slow and that’s the reason
Awesome video! 👍
Always a pleasure sir, thank you!
Great video
Excellent video RailROL82! That's a long one :D
great video whats fun is when you see some one run the crossing on foot because thay don't want to wate
Wow that was a mixed freight! Short and tall Gondola cars, unless there’s specific names I don’t know , intermodal and flat bed tractor trailer intermodal i don’t know the correct name for the flat beds with the tractor trailers and the short or tall gondola cars, no tankers, wow amazing crossing I counted 143 cars I think I’m correct as I was disrupted by my father talking to me LOL! Awesome as always RoLRoL!
Your welcome sir! All is well my friend!
Another Awesome Video my dude!
Question, does that Do Not Stop on Tracks Sign's light flash every time the light turns red, or when there is a train coming and traffic is backed up over the crossing?
I also noticed the light after the crossing is NOT tied in with the crossing with some sort of Preemption system, they sure could use that here!!!!
Signal reset? I've never heard of that before,. The FEC must do things differently down there because up here the train will always have a green, untill he "knocks it down" OR the dispatcher drops it to red.
@@railrol82 Ahhh gotcha
Nice mechanical bells!
It's sad there going away in my area slowly...
If the rail companies insist on making their trains longer and longer, they should consider building grade separations.
True, I hear that in some states they get fined for blocking crossings. Thanks as always for the views and comments, Geoffrey
I love watching trains go by, you never know which type of car is next
I love trains and Amtrak trains and tri rail trains and fec freight trains and brightline trains
We have a lot in common Garrett. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
There's a tourist train in Austin I like to ride that actually has to stop and reverse across a very busy crossing. Three Lanes each direction. The conductor had to open the gates to the station, disconnect the derail and throw the switch. After the first couple minutes the drivers stop waving at you. Then when it reverses you can see them cheering.
Great catch with an awesome train 🚂, I like FEC LNG engines and that breast cancer awareness engine! I’ve been battling cancer for almost two years so even though mine is lung cancer I appreciate any company’s contributions to cancer awareness of any kind. I think it was 131 cars this train. Thanks for another great video
RailROL82 ~ thank you
Super video 😉👍
Truly an amazing view my friend and I wish to see many more videos keep up the good work!
@@railrol82 ok I am really excited!
Nice video. those WCH mechanical bells sound great. 13 accidents here. 10 cars 3 pickup trucks, 8 uninjured, 3 injured, 2 killed. this crossing is dangerous, people need to not stop on the tracks
@@railrol82 email is sent. let me know if you didn't get it or something went wrong, :)
I love watching trains go by. I’m sure a lot of drivers were pissed. I wonder if the cars in the front row enjoyed the show. they had the best seats!! Great vid again. Thanks for sharing. Going to be in Port St. Lucie in Nov. to see my dad. You near there? So many great lines to see
Your videos are great
Lol! You so silly, but I do love your train videos and I look forward to Sunday and Wednesday mornings now! Lol js
@@railrol82 sure man
Super Video RailROL 82 🇮🇳
Nice catch!
Nice video mate
Nice video RailROL82! WOW that's one very long train! Looks like a longer train then some of my longest trains I filmed! Keep them keeping!
The train took so long to pass that I fell asleep when the 40th car came and I woke up the next day to find that it passed. Nice video by the way
Wow! I had no idea it owned FEC but I knew it owned FXE
Fantastic video, Roly! Probably the first time I've seen the Pink Lady, I had only seen the Union Pacific Pink Ribbon (UP 7400) before. Gate runners are everywhere, people will never learn.
Of course. There were two crossing accidents in my area just in the last week!
Man your not kidding about th e traffic lol only in Hialeah but like always awsome video !
Anytime
Great video and catch, as always! That is one giant crossing there!
Seems like the train is slowing down a little bit just make a delivery
He has the signal at Iris interlocking which he had to slow for. Thanks as always for the support of my channel!
I love fec
Has a lot of m bells
Red
Uses LNG fuel
Slow
Long
What’s not to love
This is one of the best comments I've ever read. I agree! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
The train pulled 130 cars!😅
Big like
awesome catch Mijo, Man the dispacther said aaaa wait I got to go to the restroom aaaahh so you got to wait on the clear signal until I get back, oh wheres my book to read LOL
At first i thought the lights were on a preemption with the crossing, but nope.
I remember FEC causing some jams at Palm & Red Road at 21st Street back in '60-'75. But the traffic wasn't near as bad then as it is now down there. And the consists weren't near as long as they are today. You ought to hear my neighbors bitch when they get caught by a BNSF-Brush Sub or UP-Greeley Sub train that goes through our area for more than 30 seconds. Major rants on the social networks. Funny the trains have been going through here 100 years before the area developed. They want to ban them but have no clue that they would go hungry and naked without them! BTW: Another excellent video!
I will see about getting this railroad crossing in action
Great video! Interesting that FEC uses LNG as a fuel. Thanks for sharing!
That sure is a long one. A long one but a good one. I like how it's mixed with trailers, sand/gravel, and intermodal.
I like the breast cancer decals on the 3rd engine.
This is mason McConnell
Thanks as always for the views and comments, Mason McConnell!
Szép mozdony. Köszönöm!
The bell different than indonesia railroad crossing
@@railrol82 yes... in indonesia there are also lot of freight trains.
But in Indonesia there are also many coal trains
Keep them UPS trailers (feeders in ups lingo) rolling, I needs my retirement check! And I’ve never seen feeders loaded in well cars like that before, they’re usually straight up TOFC. Good stuff, keep it coming! Loving that you’re on a regular schedule posting your videos!
I've sat for 15 minutes at the railroad crossing in my vehicle and riding the city bus.
@@railrol82 In Milwaukee.
Plankinton Avenue crossing near the Milwaukee Intermodal Station (then Amtrak Station & originally Milwaukee Union Station).
Some of these freight trains are long and slow at times.
When the old 6th Street Viaduct closed for replacement in 2001-2002. It was worse having all the 6th Street traffic on S. 2nd St/Plankinton Avenue between Michigan Street to National Avenue.
Out of pure interest: The three red locomotives - what is the middle one for? Is that like an extra fuel tank or something? Doesn't really look like it would move from own power. Just wondering if you have any information on that.
Ahhhh if only I watched the video yesterday on 2/22/22 on Tuesday…. Ironically this train number is 222 😭
Very nice, Thumbs up as usual!
Best regards from Croatia :-)
Hi, not to nag, but are you still going to do a Sanataria on the tracks vid, explaining the weirdness?
The first part of this train looks like it was hauling ballast for the rails because most of the cars had Herzog on the side which mainly hauls gravel. There was a crossing like this North of the Cincinnati area which had a major mall on one side of the tracks and huge industrial parks on the other side. When these trains came through during the morning and evening rush hours it greatly affected the traffic and back cars and many trucks and backed up traffic on the interstate getting off at the exit there. After years of people bitching to the local authorities and local government the county built an overpass on this busy road. Great video by the way
RailRol82 Good Afternoon Roly How are you doing today, FEC Train 222 ES44C4'S GE Gevo's #816 311 LNG FUEL TENDER #803 & 436 GP40-2 With this mixed manifest of freight cars, Gondolas, Rock Hoppers, All purpose spine cars,With trailers, 53' well cars with Double Stacked Containers,Total Number of cars we're 130, That was a Good one when you turned away from the Freight train to this House To Make Everyone Miss count including me, I Have to Admit you almost got me on this one LOL, If it Hadn't been for me keeping my eyes Wide open and not blinking once looking real closely to the top Blue Container as you turned back around I was Still Laughing , I Was just wondering Exactly how many Viewers lost count,Roly you sure are by far one of the best Railroad Archeologist of all times at Finding Abandoned Railroads and Rarely used railroads, I am Truly amazed By all the video's you make and By going to different parts of each state you travel to Bring back parts of History that lead back to decades of the past that are gone but will never be forgotten I appreciate your hard work you do Thank you my Friend For sharing all your Magnificent video's Big Thumbs Up you deserve it Have a Blessed day. 👍👏👏👏
@@railrol82Good evening Roly Thanks No problem my friend I was still laughing about this, You're a real good friend Roly have a blessed night, 👍👌
Love you RailRod82 more. Must be a yellow or a red signal ahead
How did you know it was coming?
He waited 6 hours for a train to creep by...😅
Great catch railrol keep up the good work
That's what I call an L&L train - bring a lawn chair and lunch, it's gonna be a while!
Hialeah I told you a lot a t trailer Where in Miami it’s a little bit trailer
Hialeah and Miami are kind of like the same thing lol. Thanks for your views and comments, Roger.
I've been at that crossing. I think most drivers start checking their phones.
great video RailROL82 :)
He’s supposed to “knock down” the signal, not tickle it!
I love the K5HL horn and the E bell on the Locomotive!
When the speed limit is 5
you used to be a conductor?
That's alot of traffic waiting for the train to go through and that marten transport trailer is from a town not to far from me in Wisconsin
Wow, I kinda love how a train cost a traffic. Lol
What was the car behind the lead engine?
Propane for hybrid propane/diesel engines.
What if you need to go to the bathroom ?
@@railrol82
Thanks it happened to me in 2003 i was on George Washington Bridge waiting for an hour in traffic going towards New York it was brutal holding it in with no bottle orcup nothing is hidden there everything is out in the open. It was like hell waiting finally me and my family stopped at a rest area. It was the best feeling ever to see a rest room. I'll never do that again i learned my lesson.
Nice Catch Dude! Definitely one of my favorite Crossings in Miami! I've been meaning to ask a couple things.
How safe do you think Hialeah is for railfanning? I've never felt it was the safest place on earth, but it certainly isn't the worst!
Secondly, when did you say these Cantilevers were installed again?
@@railrol82It would've been interesting to see what the Crossing looked like before the Cantilevers were installed. To imagine such a large road like Lejune not having any overhead structure is kinda weird!
y slow man?????
@@railrol82 ok....thanks
no brightline trains Thu that crossing yet ?
👍🏻👍🏻
All that sand to bottle for tourists souvenirs of Florida beaches. 😄

oooooooooooof

For long trains, if you want to save fuel, turn off the engine, if possible.
