This makes you think what turns someone into an absolute monster. So much talent ability and support. I guess too much comes easy and too much Privilege. I feel horrible for the young women that had to deal with the violations against them. Horrific.

Yeah, its easy practicing till your body is shattered and you get a compound fracture in your foot and then clawing yourself back to return to as world class dancer with a titanium screw in your foot. He sounds so spoiled and entitled.
There is an honest argument to be made that it is worth ruining some of the most exceptional, driven, hardworking people on the planet to make our institutions safe for women. Some amazing people are pigs. Doesn't stop them from being pigs. He got where he got because he was talented and backed it up with a lifetime of agonising work. He did not get there because of some magical conspiracy. He's is dead to the world because he was a pig to the women. You have had your pound of flesh. Lets not go after history.

If I had an adult son who violated the intimate privacy of young women (the women involved were like 19-25) and referred to them as sluts and farm animals to be abused, I would absolutely *not* take his side. Your children might be your life, but they're still adults who exist in society and have very real consequences for how they treat people.
Integrity toward your fellow dancers matters.

Yes, he's an asshole and an adulr one at that, but he was also an exceptionally talented artist and to think this is funny in any way says more about your character than about his. Same goes for the small minds that clicked like. You must feel so powerful, good luck raising better sons, this kind of behaviour is ingrained in many cultures and it's f***ing despicable. A ballet career is a way of life and it requires s family or institution that help with the very high cost next to the hard training, before dancers get hired if they’re lucky. I won’t stand for denunciating everything Chase accomplished because he turned out to be a sexist jerk, that is not right.

It's hard for me to say because I am a Male Ballet Dancer. I'm no pro but I've been taking classes for a while and I have dated some of the girls. It happens. I had a few breakups! It happens.

Its continued presence is immensely disrespectful towards Ms Waterbury and others affected. The minimum appropriate action of removing this video would be greatly appreciated.

That’s just a back-handed compliment. Chase has always tried to make himself appear hyper-masculine to me, talking about beer, football, working out, and now we know he’s a predator. If he was so insecure about his profession then why do it? Clearly, he loved it but had a lot of hang ups.

Hindsight is 20/20, but watching this, there are clues that not everything is OK in Chaseland. The father is completely scary in this respect: I'd hate to know how many fights Mom and Dad had over ballet lessons. Chase clearly goes out of his way to show ol' Pop what a regular guy he is. Golfing, talking football, quaffing vodka instead of (sissy) wine... he might as well wear a forehead tattoo "I AM AN ALPHA MALE!" And it's an act. You think he really enjoys smoking cigars? Look how he's holding it. Like a blunt. If he burns anything, it's trees.
Meanwhile, he spends his entire life knee-deep in young, beautiful, naive ballerinas who are around relatively few boys in general, much less straight boys. The crushes Chase must have inspired. Look at Lauren Lovett. She is /toast/.

Mr. Finlay had a long, long history of being hideous to the professional females around him, an ingrained, intensely misogynistic streak replete with all the foul language and text associated with kind of mindset. He completely destroyed himself, and his future. What he did was to his girlfriend was completely beyond the pale, and it destroyed his career. Good. Idiot. Probably works for daddy's company now. Apparently the director of the NYCB was right in there with him, he too, is now gone. There were also suspicions, not well publicized, that Finlay was doing drugs.

Wow so much hate on this page, for whatever he did wrong, none of the commentors on here have ever lived his life or have been in his shoes. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. He was still a beautiful dancer. End of story. He doesn't need peoples hate who don't even know him, instead try forgiving and moving on, as if anyone of you are perfect. Am I sticking up for him? No, what he did in his past was wrong, but no one really understands how his parents truly raised him. Move past the personal judgements... leave that for God.
Funny how people are trying to shift the blame - to the parents, to his upbringing... to his kinky pinky toe. At the end of the day, no one is responsible for his actions other than only he himself, and no one is to blame for it but only he himself is either. It does not matter what made a person become a threat to others - the point is once a person is dangerous, they are just that, a threat that everyone needs to protect themselves from. It does not help the situation at all to try to blame others for his wrongdoings. I'm not sure about that. In reading all of her charges it's starting to look like the case of a standard "money grab". She's charged pretty much everyone that she possibly can, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few females on her list before long.
