- Summer can be rough on the garden, and our plants are no exception! In this video we'll show you what we're doing in the mid-summer garden to keep it happy, healthy, and producing--from a homemade fertilizer, to seeding some fall flowers, to helping some struggling soil and trellising some overgrown plants!
It's not too late to direct seed some things into your garden if your plants have stopped producing, either--so take heart! This video has it all, so come on along! - Хобби
I really enjoyed this video. It was like being able to follow you around your garden. Thanks for all the helpful tips.
Thank you for bringing me along can I use shredded pine bark as mulch ..praying the house is coming along well Blessings to you and your Sweet family❤
So much good information. Thank you. Please don't forget the list of the pumpkins. Not yet in the description.
And just an aside, I have what I think is Russian kale that is now in it's second year of growing back without me doing anything. I was pretty amazed when it came back last year but this year was an especially nice surprise. I knew kale was pretty cold hardy but I had no idea it could be a "perennial" 😊.
Love it. My rainbow chard was perennial for 4 years, then a tough winter finally took it. But it was a tough year
This video was super helpful! Love the pumpkin on trellis idea!
Another great thing about leaving the poppy roots (or other) in the clay soil is the structure of the roots helps to lift and loosen the soil 🎉
It was almost a relief to hear you say that ranunculus don’t grow very well in Colorado - I tried them twice and only got a few. I am wondering though - have you ever tried them as a fall crop since they prefer cooler temperatures? I live in the mountains of Colorado so appreciate your channel for learning about our climate and soil health from you…and lots more! Appreciate your channel so much!
Yay you’re back. I hope you really enjoyed your time on your home farm. ❤
Well I learned what I can do with the millions of pine needles!!!! My Dad always said they acidify the soil but I’m gonna give these a try cause th weeds are insane here in Nj. It takes a long time to pick them out then they come right back🤯
2 seconds before you said brownies I thought it😂
Lovely video, thank you for sharing!!👏👏👏👏
This video is such a resource (as are you in general!). Thank you for so generously sharing your wisdom and experience with us 🙏🏼
I really appreciate the time you spent on different areas of your garden and giving great tips! I was encouraged to see your lisianthus, I grew mine from seed and thought I did something wrong since I haven’t seen any flowers yet but they’re at the same stage as the ones you mulched with pine needles.❤😊
Thank you for debunking the myth of pine needles acidifying your soil!
What are the varieties of pumpkin with long stem to grow on the trellis that you were talking about?
Wondering the same!
Same!
I love you channel great information thanks for sharing
I’m glad you and your family got away! Thank you for another jam packed helpful garden day. 💚🌱
Loved watching!! My Colorado garden didn’t do as well this year so living vicariously in your RUclips garden ❤🫛🪴
I stopped using my soil blocker and making my soil block the way you have shown here and it allows me to get things done so much faster and my hands don’t hurt afterwards!
Great info about adding compost on top of the needles!
We have so many grasshoppers this year plus the heat ..s many things died here in Falcon so a reset was in order. I planted more things that the grasshoppers weren't eating!
Thank you! So much good advice. My shishito peppers looks just like the one that you gave a nitrogen boost with alfalfa pellets. I really appreciate that time you take to show how to help our gardens grow better.
I have a family farm that is located in blooming prairie, and I saw you were at a local store there! I love these tour type videos! Thank you 😊
Thanks for the tips on stock and fennel. I will definitely be trying to grow more Katz stock for a fall harvest.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing ❤
Enjoyed the video and appreciated the gardening tips.
21:43 Yes! I wondered about this! I am going to do the same thing!!
Good info.
Also, double check patent dates, many patented plants are still showing the patent but the patent is expired.
I have a question if I may. I have quite light, sandy, 'thirsty' soil. I suppose leaving roots and incorporate organic matter in such soil is beneficial, too?
Always! More organic material is always better, and it's better for soil life.
Would love to know how you use pine shaving in your beds. Didn't know that was something that could be done.
Garden resets happen to most of us because the unexpected always happens.
Thank you Bri, I also have clay soil and was about to flip some beds. Very useful information at the perfect time 😉 Your not a true gardener if you are clean lol
I love your follow me videos. I've got to get more mulch out!
💚👍
I love your tomato trellis system!! I keep thinking about doing this but it would mean growing tomatoes year after year in the same beds. Is that ok? Do you see issues?
I might have missed it but what’s growing in the mulch/ pine needles ? Thanks for the great video. Going out today to prune tomatoes haha
I think it's lisianthus.
What varieties of long-vine squash and pumpkins are you growing?
I really want to grow and trellis pumpkins this but I’m afraid of squash vine borers. I live in NY and they are a big problem. Just had my zucchini attached by them and they didn’t even fruit yet 😢Any advice ?
I believe that you can save patented plants for your own use, you just can’t sell or give them away to others.
She sells flowers. And while personal use is tolerated, likely because it can't be detected, it's still illegal.
Are your hats for sale online? I'd love to be able to buy one!😊❤
Do you still have sheep?
Do rodents get in your compost? If rodents get I to your compost is there need to worry? Can it still be used?
It seems like a fairly major design flaw to not make your compost bays big enough to fit the tractor bucket into.
For sure, didn’t have the tractor when we built it :)
Could you have potted up your suckers to make new tomato plants?
She could have placed the stems in water and had new plants in a week.
Hahaha, got mi...ehh dirt?
Should totally be a new gardening ad campaign 😅
I'm curious why you can't save Italian ranunculus?
It's patented (like being under copyright) and, therefore, illegal to self propagate.
What zone are you?
