The door is made like that. If you check the bottom plate you'll see. It's not typical but we wanted it that way to gain more space inside of the room under the stairs.
I convert containers for a living in Tigard OR. I love what you are doing. It's a pretty big endeavour and you are approaching it like pros. It's a pleasant surprise to see that you are "neighbors". Hit me up if you need anything. Et passe le bonjour au frenchy!
They are not easily removed, and if we did that we would have no space inside this room which is why we did it the way we did. I know it's not typical though. :)
Am I wrong or did they just install an exterior door with the hinge pins on the outside? Shouldn't they be on the inside so nobody can pull the pins and remove the door from the outside?
An “external” swinging door”? Sorry but it’s all about hinges whether it swings internally or externally. Nothing to do with the door or frame itself. Regardless, you merely swap the hinges the opposite way to make them swing in the other direction.
Just remember, if you change the hinges on the door and frame, you will have to mortise the new locations and fill in the old ones. Not that simple of a task
I usually hide my screws behind the weatherstripping and into the rough opening. (I realize that this a a storage unit and doesn’t need to be beautiful.
Loved the eagle!! Beautiful!
Thanks!! It's always a sight to see :)
You should replace all the screws with 4" deck screws. All of the hinges and the striker should be done. It will be a lot stronger and more secure.
Great idea!
In addition to replacing the short hinge screws for frame install; you can hide screws under the doorframe gasket for a seamless no patch install.
Great tips!! Thx
I find it fascinating the difference in door dynamics compared to countries around the world.
Me too! Things we're definitely different when we went to France :)
How to make an entire video installing a door. Wow, you guys are just so smart and amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!
Hinge pins can be removed, thus allowing access to a locked door. Hinges should be mounted on the inside!
Most likely, the door has non removable hinge pins. It will work fine.

Great videos. But use long screws and shims where the striker/where the deadbolt go in to the frame. Then it is harder to bend the frame for the door.
Thx for the tips!!
looks great..... live the keyless entry that's really slick (yes I've seen them a lot over the years 🤣)
Thank you so much!! It's a really cool product! :)
Door looks great.
Thank you!!
Looks great
Thank you!! :)

Hey neighbor!! That's so cool. We'd love to connect! Shoot us a message or an email. :)
Should put some Tyvek on that plywood to protect it because it's looking rough
Yeah you're totally right!
Love it 😍
Thank you!!
you should have bought the left door not the right. When there's a storm and it's raining or snowing hard and you open them, everything gets inside
Great point! We bought this door at a discount door/window overstock store so we took what was available. :)
Bob your right hinges with pins on the inside even thoughthe threshold would backward
The door probably has non-removable hinge pins. It will be fine.

Yes, but it was designed to be that way. The hinges have non-removeable pins.
👍👍👍🔥
Thank you so much!!
Have you ever considered the Cascadia Fault about 60 miles West of you?
Yes
👍👍👍
Thank you!!
The door is on the wrong way, hinges go inside not out.
They did it to give more storage space.
The door is installed correctly (though it's a unique door and not typical). If you look at the bottom plate it's designed like that.
take the door off the jamb.....i know it's too late now.............or leave it on and run the hose thru the lock hole.......
We'll save that idea for next time!! Thx
This is so weird. Swinging in all of our doors in Sweden is swinging out more logic 😂❤
It's not typical for sure.. we only wanted it this way so we could gain more space in the room under the stairs.
It seems easier than catching crabs 😂
Hahah good point
So you didn't add the magic lock to this door, but talked about it. changed your mind?
We put it on the other door we installed. We might add one to this door in the future. It's a really cool product.
Mais pourquoi aux USA construit-on les maisons en bois, comme le deuxième des 3 petits cochons ? 🐷
Mdr, je ne sais pas.... c'est vrai
😂
:)

The door will not open outward if we place the hinges on the inside, which is what we wanted to save space.

It’s a closet or a shed, storage area. That’s why they chose an out swing door.
