Day in the life of a contractor good video, I remember it well when I was doing fire and flood restoration 5 to 10 jobs at once, 7 am picking up materials and up till midnight doing bids. Most people and employees have no idea how much it takes. But I didn't have a cow to milk. Is that a jersey? I was raised on a dairy farm.
Excellent video, thank you. It was fun to tag along with you to your sites. An old-timer once told me, “people don’t do what you EXpect… people do what you INspect.” I see you agree on some level and keep an eye on things as they move along. I think the quality control is critical to getting the results you are looking for. Great video, thanks again.
I am a newer home builder, and appreciate the content! Thanks for these videos. Maybe something on how to maximize savings/increase profits could be helpful! Thanks again.
Great content, Keith. Esp interested in the communication between yourself & contractors, as I can see that being an often important weak point to get better at! If you're up for a vid series suggestion, maybe showing these & following up with a walk-through of your thoughts on each conversation? It'd be like vicarious experience for us, & we all know experience is a great teacher. :)
Hi sir, this video is very informative. I'm currently in Southern New Hampshire University attending my bachelors in business concentrating in Project Management. Trying to get a summer intern so I can see first hand on how it's done. Nothing like on the job training .
That's cool. Best of luck with that. See howtobuildyourownhome.com for all the help you will not get in college. I can say that as a former college instructor.
Great insight to what you do. Looks fun! I'm looking to get into general contracting as well. Do you have any advice on how to get started? Do you recommend specializing in any trade to start?
I'm moving towards getting started as a general contractor. Would you recommend getting a degree in construction management before getting my contractor license?
Hello Good morning My Sir. My name is Abel, from Nigeria, south-south, Akwa Ibom State. I like your job style as a General contractor. I am working as General contractor in my area. Please I need a coach on some things sometimes.
Hey Keith, I have a question for you. How is it that a company that specializes in a trade (Lets say Drywall) is able to work for a general contractor like yourself? What are the steps that company has to take in order to work for you? I would really appreciate your response thank you.
First, make contact in email and give your full contact info, and I mean full contact info. Make it easy for the builder to add your info to his or her contact list. Maybe send an email first and then follow up with a text, but in that text make sure you are sharing your full profile. And make sure the profile is complete with logo, web, email etc. I get numbers all the time and I have to plug it in and I have no time for this. Second, find a way to meet face to face. Third, learn to network Fourth, send a monthly email asking for plans to bid, and indicate you get gets back within 48 hours. Hope that helps
I like the way you get involved with you work. You seem like a contractor that can be trusted. 👍
I appreciate that

Thanks for the comment. Not sure what breed of cow. Here name is daisy, though.

Well said!
Are you superhuman?! Lol. You get so much done and even answer RUclips questions! That’s above and beyond!
Thanks for the comment. Not super human, but maybe more like a renaissance man. I like that better. It means I am still mortal.

Very interesting. I’m learning now for hopeful future use. Love the cow. Is it yours?
Cow is not mine. I belong to a cow co-op where we all take turns milking.
Did you put insulation and rock wool in the ceiling? One for thermal one for sound?
Mostly for sound.
