Excellent work on that intank pump. I went the expensive route getting a “new” old stock pump from Spain for my 1986 e23 L7 here in California. I’m inclined to rebuild my old pump for a good spare.
Sometimes reversing the polarity on the pump will get the motor unstuck/unseized. I had it with my E28 525 main pump and had no money to replace, so figured what the H, just try and it got the pump unstuck. Figured that something got inside through the filter and inside the little blades and casing of the pump. it is usually a dc motor and reversing the polarity makes it turn the opposite direction. ( I would not recommend doing that with a new design pump as they have a PWM controller PCB that will burn if you do that). it also worked when I was stuck on the side of the road with an ALFA 156 auto box pump that got stuck as well. (manual gearbox with auto shift hydraulics added on) Alfa right 🤔 Love Your videos thanks, a lot of valuable information in these videos.
Wow thank you for this knowledge. Good to know for future! I did try reversing polarity for fun a few times and never managed to unstick her, seems to be totally fried
Mate honestly ordering parts for these cars from Australia is a pain in the assss, to quote you. I ordered an E28 ICV by LOWE Automobil and it was stuck in Frankfurt for months Most OEM parts I have to get from overseas anyway. I'd imagine parts wouldn't be as bad for E30s
near the oil filter what is that plug/sensor thing? thanks man and keep up the good work... im working on an E30 project ive been 14 years in the making hahah
@@m3nameisjosh464 thankyou man you were not wrong at all! mine has been cut, is that something I should worry about? Im not even sure how long it has been hey man, so ill let you know a bit about my background. im 35 and I got bought myself a 325e 1987 18 years ago lolllll, so I moved around with life and never really got a chance to experience it or really use it, its been sitting in the same place for the last 14 years... It has only been in the last 6 months I have got into really doing something with this. So the whole e30 world and everything is knew to me man, I know literally nothing about cars, but love these things... I have spent a lot of my time this year learning online through many great videos such as yourself and others and forums and what not and yeh here I am lol... Im from Australia man and my E30 is a Euro Spec one...
funny thing to say also, I pulled the original oil filter off the other day,,, its a total original BMW, its not a mahle or anything else, just straight up BMW it seems... fuel filter is so roasted over with grease and everything it would be amazing to see what it is, same for the carbon filter... everything so far seems stock on this car which is incredible... I am the second owner by the way...
@@thisisyaren oil pressure sensor basically just will trigger an oil light if engine loses oil pressure. So it’s important but also a stock m20 shouldn’t really lose oil pressure. Thats an awesome story and i wish you best of luck bringing that car back! Im happy I can help!
I love these diagnostic videos. Learning what these symptoms mean will be good to know if my Volvo 240 ever experiences them. Keep it up!
Thank you man!!! Glad they help!
I had the same oem filter on my e30 coupe i just purchased 😂 along with rotted fuel lines
Why all these E30s getting so neglected😩
