To this day fans from both clubs come over to games and sometimes „Die Elf vom Niederrhein“ - the anthem of Borussia Mönchengladbach will be played at halftime at Anfield. The nickname the foals - young horses was already explained by someone else in the comments and comes from the team of the 70s with many young players who played energetic like young horses who can‘t be tamed. One of those players was Günter Netzer which gave the mascot Jünter - Günter with a rhinish accent - the name. You saw Jünter in the show as the little puppet horse. Yes the little park with drink stands is where you can eat and drink its full 3-4 hours before the game. Also around the corner from the stadium is the Fan house also worth a visit 😉💚

They were called foals in an article from Kicker in the 70ies due to their young age in average and their quick dribblings and passes, and the public adapted it.
