I always go back to these old videos not only for Greg’s glorious playing but the interaction between him and Joe makes me feel like they let me into their living room conversation.😊

I will never forget the time back in high school when my homeroom teacher brought his Gretsch Country Gentleman into school. It was the exact beautiful lime green color as the one in this video. It immediately changed my opinion about him. "This guy is really COOL"! I started playing guitar right after that and 50+ years later I am still enamored with this guitar. Maybe some day........

I have never heard ANYTHING that can beat the tone from a good Gretsch guitar. And this one sounds good, man!

Greg's a riot! I have a 60's of this model of this that an elderly gentleman gave me when he was passing away. Beautiful guitar.

Greg is hands down my favorite. I love how he plays, his enthusiasm and confidence. Such a cool dude. If I had the money I'd buy everything he had ever reviewed!

I tried one these [or something very like it], in my local guitar shop today [a fantastic proprietor in there]. What a sensational guitar. Deep, rich tone, great neck and fretboard, the best Bigsby I've ever come across and so many other incredible features.
    A magnificent instrument.

OMG! Amazing video! I thought I had seen all of your videos, but these Gretsch reviews are PRICELESS!!!! I love my 5420T even more after seeing your videos! Thanks for all the great playing and comments. Keep playing like that! You rock!

I hadlooked at every Gretsch guitar available. Then I bought a Players Silver Jet. It was the same color as my Gretsch Drums in 1973. That guitar is wonderful and sounds fantastic. But it was like being alone with your friends wife. Somehow it is not right. But my boy Greg has shown me this incredible guitar. It has all the things I love and none the things I don't. I will shortly make you mine, my Lotus White temptress.

GREGSTER!!! As Robert Deniro would say " YOU - you're very good you". I just want it on the record that this video resulted in my purchase of the G6118T -135 Anniversary - gold top w/ dark metalic cherry B&S. AND just now the Little Gristle. I will have you mentioned in my obit Greg. (down the road 😊) Wishing you & yours all the best in 2024.

  • @bonesbginnis

Joe says this one has a lacquer finish, I don't think so, Gretsch website says Gloss Urethane. But....... I love mine, it is a killer guitar!

Greg looks like James Gandolfini (RIP) back when these videos were shot, compared to how he looks now.
Keep up the good health and vitalitay, Mr. Gristle.

This guitar has every feature I would want in a Gretsch hollow body. I think they've pretty well perfected the Player's Edition for gigging musicians, though I would never get that colour.

What is the name of the Chet song he plays at 3:20

  • @miahconnell23
    @miahconnell23 Год назад

Oh, 6’7” I understand better now. (Proportion of guitar-body size to guitar-player size. Dude’s not just “very tall,” he’s approaching Ben Kissel levels of big-ness.) Dude is super funny, a fantastic guitar player, and Affirm really ought touse his impromptu jingle (honestly). It’s great to have Joe Carducci visit the videos to spit facts. For example, I always need to know about what kind of bracing when it comes to Gretsch (and hollowbodies in general). Hey Joe: is the Eddie Cochran signature model the only “empty” hollowbody coming from Gretsch Terada ? I’m looking for empty, like the Cochran, or minimal, “anti-extra” bracing. Top-vibration combined with string vibration: that’s my Holy Grail. It’s also b/c if I’m just working out a riff or quickly grabbing the guitar for some reason, I don’t plug in. Sometimes I allow my unplugged strumming to bleed onto my vocal tracks, and it augments the ‘line-in’ or mic’d guitar amp. I know, I know, from Chet to BB there are players and reasons (e.g. combatting feedback) to have a big guitar that has some “dude, you DO realize this is an electric guitar, right ?” aspects, but I also feel like it’s having a beautiful person dressed in incongruent clothing…like, maybe a beautiful person being in workplace attire, but that outfit isn’t really who she is ? Ppl love the Gibson ES 335, and I demo’d one that sounded SO sweet-undeniably-but sometimes I feel “fooled,” like: “baby, I seen your curves and arches and f-holes, and I HAD to meet you…” but then you pluck or strum and it’s like: “I thought you were one type, but now I see that …that you’re not… I feel *played..”. Center-blocks and trestle-bracing are omni-present though, and I know I’m in a minority on this preference / need.

watching all these Joe and Greg Gretsch demos love them. Gibson could lead so much from Gretsch , instead of going round moaning and sueing everyone they should follow the Gretsch lead and bring out a reasonable priced model like the streamliner series , great value perfect guitars then ordinary people won't have to buy rubbish copies they can play authentic.

Took one of my favorite Gretsches and totally ruined it. The 2016/2017 line is a disgrace to the history of Gretsch. I’m keeping my vintage ones, and only going to add more. This modern Gretsch is too modern for me.

Joe Sasser frankly, I like the models several years ago. The so-called “modern” touches aren’t for me. Great guitars still, but some of the modern additions I don’t care for. You may like them. Just my opinion.
