    Another very productive day for Forrest to Farm. We have a tool rental place that has always done well for us. True, if everyone would show a little respect to the machines they rent it'd be much better for everyone.

      Hey Dean. So true. Gotta say everything they have brought over here has purred like a kitten. They keep these things running very well. All the attachments have been in great shape as well as the tracks. Both essential in order to complete a job efficiently.

    I love the banter between son and pops , educational and entertaining at the same time . Hard work , long hours , shitty weather ... sounds like my trade , flat roofer for 32 yrs. Thanks for the tree removal links , I got trees to fell and remove and needed a good how-to video . Thanks muchly and cheers to a new year and new builds .

      Haha we have a lot of fun, glad you enjoy it. Yeah it’s rough work for sure! I know yours is too. No break from the sun and wind on a roof! Thanks so much for watching!

      Glad you made it back. Some one said youtube does not notify like they used to. We have been very busy recently with life so the project has taken a hit but looks like we should be hitting it hard for the foreseeable future! Lots of content coming!!

    Always nice to have the right equipment! Have you thought about the size and layout of the shop? Is that something you will build or have some else build it (I.e. pole building)? I’m just curious because we are almost in the same spot minus the foundation lol. We cleared a spot for a building but haven’t decided on what we need any what all considerations we should take into account

      Right now it’s just going to be a big open rectangle. We looked at having a poor barn put in, but prices have gone sky high! We can have a slab put in and build a stick built unit with trusses for almost half the price. Still looking at a few options while we wait for it to dry up and finish grading, but that’s what we are leaning towards.
      Thanks for watching and good luck!

      The rule of thumb for these buildings is generally "decide on what you need now, and then build it bigger"

      Haha so true!

      We have toyed around with 30x40 on up to 30x60 for the main portion. Then add shed roofs to both sides later on. We are sticking with 30 foot for the width because trusses bigger than that get heavy and more costly for the area. It will likely be a monolithic slab then standard framing for the walls with a treated base plate as Brian said above. Probably use hardie board for the siding which is a cement based siding. Then its a toss up between a metal roof or shingles. With a metal roof you have potential issues with condensation from humidity and varying temperatures. A shingle roof generally does not have that problem plus the shingle roof is a little more aesthetically pleasing which makes the wives happy. More like our houses and it in front of our houses so that will matter to them. We just try to make everyone happy. 😁

    Just found your channel.
    I have been carving into a dense piney Ozark forest.
    I am still at the chainsaw and relying on lower back stage.
    Sweet score with the skid steer.
    I was gifted a surplus U.S. G.I. mattock (pick)... wanna trade? 🤣

      @ForestToFarm  2 года назад

      Yeah. A bit behind schedule/plans. We have done some clearing and s bit of moving some dirt around but we have had some setbacks on starting our builds. Hope to get rolling soon but no promises. Thanks for watching!
