Biosecurity at the Royal Agricultural Exhibition

With over 800 sheep and goats, and approximately 450 cattle, at the 2024 Royal Agricultural Exhibition that’s currently underway in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, strict biosecurity protocols are essential. Angus Williamson chairs both the KZN Red Meat Producers’ Organisation and the exhibition’s cattle section. Ginette Bentley is an animal health technician who is responsible for biosecurity at this year’s Royal Agricultural Exhibition.They explain to African Farming why and how they are ensuring that no livestock diseases threats sneak onto the premises.
