    Quick tip.
Mark text with swiping or double/triple click.
Then middle click where you want to past it. No need to open then copy meny.
Easier to use addgroup(8) or adduser(8) to add some groups to a user.

The thing about the pre-installed drivers is that some of them aren't probably going to render individual models or textures from games correctly, such as glove skins from CS:GO, they all look black with some shady and rough colors, but once you actually install the necessary graphics drivers, it renders them correctly. So yeah, I think that's one of the cases where you'd need to install the drivers. But this is probably more oriented towards OpenGL.

I tried this guide but didn't work in my case. I have a AMD APU Ryzen 5 3400g and I using Ubuntu 20.04.
I finally figured out how to put davinci resolve to work doing this steps:
    - Install driver amdgpu-pro
    - Activate iommuv2 on BIOS
    - Install all DEBs starting with opencl on amdgpu-pro tar file.
Only after that Davinci Resolve starts.
Before all that I opened GRUB configuration file and put iommu=pt at the end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT and perform sudo update-grub after that. It resolves the glitches when I watch videos. I'm not sure if this is still necessary with amdgpu-pro driver but I want to leave this tip here.

after several trys I figured out that the method down below is working,
"Using Debian-based ROCm with Upstream Kernel Drivers".
You can install the ROCm user-level software without installing the AMD’s custom ROCk kernel driver.
To use the upstream kernels, run the following commands instead of installing rocm-dkms

for tensorflow you need to install miopen too (also hip-hcc too if it's not already installed) after that just do "pip-install tensorflow-rocm". If it still does not work install missing libraries that in the error mesagge.

Just want to note, that ROCm can be quite limitied. The navi (RX 5000 series) is not supported at all. The "cuda" hsa is not supported for APUs or older than RX 400 series (the Open CL should work). It might work but it's not like cuda-grade

I had some weird issues with ROCm on Ubuntu 20.04. Rendering in Blender was super slow, a benchmark scene that normally takes under a minute was showing ETA of about 5 hours.
I also had some weird graphical corruption, and my system crashed before it could finish...
I installed only the OpenCL part of AMDGPU-PRO and that works much better, no issues.

Too bad AMD doesn't even support its own GPU's with ROCm. All Navi 10 GPU's are unsupported and are not even being considered for the foreseeable future. Quoted straight from an AMD employee on ROCm's GitHub.

Ubuntu 20.04.1, can't get rocm-3.9 to work with Resolve. It starts, and the GPU is shown in preferences, but the preview and edit windows are completely black. It does work with AMDGPU-Pro 20.40, but that has a weird bug where it doesn't spin up my GPU fan under load (VEGA FE). Does work on the FOSS drivers. Also, AMDGPU-Pro has a lot of problems with OBS. And Natron is totally broken. What a hot mess.

What's the difference between this rocm and official radeon amdgpu allopen drivers from their website? As I understand Ubuntu 20 version has none of them pre installed.

Do you have a video of how to install Raedon software or other GPU and CPU software? I know PopOS have AMD working out of the box but I am stuck trying to install the software to change settings. Any help or tips is mutely appreciated

WTF? How could installation of a library require a reboot? Installing drivers doesn't require a reboot either.

Yea, I'm on kernel 5.6 and recently reinstalled it about a week ago. Won't work on 5.8 yet

I'm trying to get Resolve to work on my machine. It worked perfect in my virtualbox setup with PopOS 20.04, so I finally made the switch to PopOS as my new desktop OS, replacing Lightroom with Darktable, etc. Everything works except for Davinci Resolve.
I can't get it to start, just as you described. Tried this but ran into errors:
ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-5.4.0-7626-generic is not supported
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.4.0-7626-generic (amd64)
I know for sure it's the openCL because I found this in the debug log of Resolve: OpenCL error -1: 'CL_DEVICE_NOT_FOUND', GPUPropertiesUtilUnix.cpp:360.
I have an older Radeon R7 card (Oland PRO [Radeon R7 240/340]) but I won't give up ;o)

Dell studio 1555 laptop, was trying Ubuntu live usb , how can I install the drivers when the laptop just shuts down minutes after the OS loads? Is it graphic card drivers error?

Didn't work for me in Ubuntu 20.04. I think it is because I already have AMD Pro drivers installed . I guess the 2 cannot live side by side. Typical dependency hell and I don't know Voodoo.

I got E: Malformed entry 1 in list file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/rocm.list (Suite)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
EDIT: I fixed that, now stucked on rocm-dkms installation command. Tried to do this on Synaptic and it gives me the same message:
Depends: rocm-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: rock-dkms but it is not installable
Depends: rocm-core but it is not going to be installed
    How to solve this?

    • @dennys82
      @dennys82 2 года назад

Substantially, rocm-dev needs rocm-core and I solved this but rock-dkms is like...no longer available. Could you do a video with Synaptic Package Manager guide? I think it's easier that Terminal because terminal tends to give errors but no clues.

Hi. I wanted to ask if RX 6700 is compatible with ROCm. I was wondering if I could train deep learning models on that GPU.

Would this solve the issue with AMD GPUs not being able to screen record at 60FPS (using something like SimpleScreenRecorder or ffmpeg, for example)?

This helped a lot but once I managed to open DaVinci Resolve, I cannot see the thumbnails or any image at all. I cannot see the video playing but I can hear sound. I'm about to give up on Linux. :(
