Looks great mate. I am have been thinking about the super single for my 3500 with a 295 as well. Sounds silly but I was hoping to pick up 1 or 2mpg but mostly so I can air down. Did you have to do anything for the factory electronics? Also does your king suspension lift the van at all? Also did you notice any pros or cons with your towing? I tow a gt3rs on a futura trailer behind my 3500 and while I want to make the van a bit more capable off road I don't want to ruin my towing experience
Super Singles will increase your tire diameter, but on the flip side reduce rotation weight by ditching 2 steelies & tires. Airing down is much simpler with the super singles, and you're gaining more tread width by going up to 295s. Not all the sprinters run into sensor "issues". There are programs for upgrading the tire sizes for adaptive cruise control. Regarding the speedo, most people dont bother with purchasing a recalibration. The difference is minimal. For instance, your speedo may show 70mph, and your actual speed is like 73mph.
Did you loose interior space with the 3500 and the single wheel set up? isn't the frame is the same on the 2500? Why did you go 3500 if you were planning suspension upgrade? BTW...great looking van....trip looks killer too.
The 3500's have a deeper wheel well in the rear, so yes, you do lose some space depending on your interior layout. Some van builders have cut the wheel wells after switching to super singles, to gain interior space like the 2500s. That's a decision to make based on your wants and needs. 3500's have a higher load capacity than a 2500. This 3500 tows a CanAm SxS. The tire and wheel combo of the super singles exceed the rear axle rating of the Sprinter.
@@morevanever1311 Good to know, I 've had several ask if they should go to the 3500, but given most do suspension upgrades, I'd tell them buy the 2500 and add springs and shocks. ...but towing....that makes sense. Have fun....killer set up you have.
The front shock mounts are not beefed up. It's one of the factory designs that need some attention for these adventure vans regardless of what upgraded shock you install. The good thing is, KING has already addressed this issue, and a new shock mount is coming out very soon!! Keep an eye out with Shadowmarq Industries.
@@morevanever1311 I've got a pretty heavy 2500 170 with the Van Compass / Falcon's (which I like). My local Oregon shop (call out to Van Specialties) had a recent customer in from Mt who sheered her shock mounts....not that I am rock crawling, but I am going add the beefed up shock mounts, just for insurance....as we do go off pavement and do a lot of skiing with ours (pot holes).
would you mind listing out the suspension upgrades? With the larger tires did you have to trim the wheel wells? Also, with the rear remote shock mount are you able to install the S&B 47 gallon fuel tank?
Hi. Sorry for the late reply. The suspension kit (some people refer to it as the Ultimate) includes: King 2.5 Coilover Struts, King 2.0 front auxiliary shocks, King 3.0 rear shocks with remote resi's, Deaver leaf springs with extended shackles. There is some trimming in the front which is accomplished with the Terrawagen Mondo Mud Guards. The remote resi's on the 3.0's do not interfere with the SB tank, since they are mounted on the cross member above the rear dif. Hope that helps! Did the ride improve from the suspension or the larger tires?
Definitely the suspension. The larger tires are better for offroad since they have more side wall and allow for more cushioning when you air down.
