Realized I was on the wrong video when I got to the part where you are using wire nuts lol. Good thing the electrical tape will help keep it water proof hahah 😂
Very cool I like how simple that install is.
I agree you can tell Garmin thought ahead.
Great video 😊
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Hi, I have a question about the Power Cable that came with your Garmin, when you hooked it up I notice there was 1 or 2 other wires besides the Black (-) and Red (+) wires, where those 2 other wires hooked up to something else on your Boat? Thanks for the Video it did help.
@kchedville the other wires are not required to be used for standard operation. They are for input and output to link to other NMEA devices, which I do not have.NMEA is an acronym for National Marine Electronics Association. The NMEA protocol is a standard data format for marine electronic systems.
@@HoosierHooksetter Thanks for the info reply HH.... Catch some Fish. :)
@@HoosierHooksetter Thanks for the Reply, gonna put the original on the shelf that came with the unit and I have another on order with the correct colored wiring.
SCfishingIN, incredible . see u around- 👋
All the fish finder stuff is confusing. My dad has a pontoon boat and i wanted to get him a decent fish finder. He's been fishing the same lake for 40+ years and doesnt need gps or something to save his routes. Would this model be overkill for something like that? Im trying to stay within $500
Bought mine at West marine’s Memorial Day sale for like $400. Installing it right now and it’s not too bad at all
@@JustinFortes-z4o So GPS is, like a GPS that shows the entire outline of the lake and surrounding areas? What is maps, because i see people bitch about units not having Maps installed? I just want something that shows the fish lol, but also has a nice big screen so he can see it.
Do I have to drill a hole in my hull?
No, Just some screws for the transducer mount if you mount it to your transom, if you mount to a trolling motor as I did then you don't even have that
@@HoosierHooksetter thank you for your quick reply! This is very helpful!
Whats the blue and brown wire for?
NMEA data out and in for NMEA compatible devices.
