Cheers Tony, fixed mine this morning. Couldn't separate the button cap from the housing like you did so I just sprayed engine degreaser in all the holes and around the cap and it flushed the crud out. I didn't have the nerve to try and lever it out. I am heavy handed and would probably have bent or crimped something. Many thanks buddy and keep up the awesome vids

Exactly what I needed to know to replace my button cover. It's been worn over the years and needed a fresh face
I bought a cheap replacement cover. Can you just refit it, or would you need to modify it? It's a cheap flat aftermarket one, without any hooks or clips.
Giulietta 2018 owner here, actually in my car, there was not enough clearance between black strut that is inserted into the silver part (shown at 6:08). The black part outer diameter was 15.70mm and the hole was just 15.62mm- had to drill a bit and it clicks smoothly now. Sorry it's hard to explain when writing but just check the silver part hole diameter. The problem wasn't about dirt/lubrication, but parts not fitting well
Brilliant. Looks like a previous owner of my Giulietta has messed around with that button at some point as it doesn't sit quite right. I'll be taking it off and having a look at it soon.
Great video ,nicely explained and easy to follow.Great work.Mine stopped opening the boot both by the button and remote.I could hear a faint clicking noise upon depressing both but obviously not opening.Next week I will be doing as you kindly showed us in your video and hopefully it's nothing else than a good clean up.

Hi, Love the Videos, they been my go to for repairs and checks on my Alfa. I have recently purchased an Illuminated Boot Lid Release Button, any idea how i can connect power to it only when i have lights come in in the dark (was thinking side light patch but not sure if that's do able all the way to the boot) .. any ideas appreciated.. keep the videos coming Tony.
Hi AViT. Thank you. You should be able to pick up a live for the tailgate lights I’m fairly sure. Separate feeds on each side. Not sure which cable though. Shouldn’t be an issue though I’m fairly sure. All the best 👍
I've just fitted a brand new £66 button unit , but the boot still won't open on the key fob or by pressing the button (I've been using the emergency release). I assume the problem could be the wiring loom into the boot door or, possibly, a blown fuse (Although I can't see a specific fuse listed in the handbook).
Any suggestions welcome!

Yeah I’d say wiring loom. If you can get to the button terminal, you could try putting a multimeter across the cores while you activate it. Good luck. All the best 👍

I've followed every step from your video but there is rust on the buttons cables and the boot is only opening with the key I suspect I need the badge's connector replacement.

Try putting it together as I believe the circlip should hold it in place. If it doesn’t work, then you may need to buy a new one.

Hey Tony, so I’ve been to a garage to change my rear wiper. After which radio is shiftting stations above 100mhz. After which my tail gate won’t lock untill I press it down when I hit the lock button. Mechanic is dogging my calls now and saying radio cable got broken somewhere and I need a new lock for a tail gate. Do you have any suggestion how to fix the lock at least?
Hi. Have you checked the common rear wiring loom? So many of these are all in the right hand loom when you open the boot. Did you see the video on this yet? All the best 👍

Have you advice on this issue - my boot won’t open with key fob or by pressing on the badge. It does open using the emergency button on the inside though. It also does pick up that the boot is open when I do use the emergency switch. So I’m assuming it is getting power.
I can’t figure what might be wrong. When I press the key the lights flash and I here a tiny tick noise in the driver seat area but no unlock of the boot. Any idea what it could be?
Time for a new lock? Perhaps that little motor in there has gone?
Hi Sheldon. Thank you. The boot open sensor is actually a small switch to the left of the catch as far as I know. It sounds like a wiring loom issue to me. If you have a multimeter you could check for power at the plug when you press the button. Hope that helps. All the best 👍

I have exactly the same problem. The click is from a relay in the fuse box in the driver side footwell. My first thought is it's a wiring loom issue. Did you get yours fixed?

No need to remove the bumper to replace the badge. They’re only glued on. I’d recommend taking the old one off from the middle outwards to avoid damaging the edges of the surround. All the best 👍

What cleaner did you use to clean your button?
Hi Andy. I can’t remember to be honest. Knowing me, I’d say soapy water for the plastic and badge parts and probably electrical cleaner for the switch. I have some MAF cleaning spray which also worked for the faulty electric window switches too. You can see it in this video
