  • Senate Chaplain Barry Black led lawmakers in prayer Feb. 10 as House Democrats prepared to make their case for why the Senate should convict former President Donald Trump on a charge of inciting insurrection during the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.
“Lord, during the impeachment trial, give our lawmakers the gift of discernment so that they will know truth from falsehood,” Black said. Following his prayer members of the Senate recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
