I must your reviews are literally the reason I got an ST. Wasn't sold on them till I watched these reviews. And yes, I feel like it was a great purchase
As in most cases, I enjoy your reviews. I own an ST1 with ST3 style Recaro seats. As with you, I display the digital mph graphic in the center display window -- a quick way to check your speed with trying to interpret an analog dial gauge. I got the ST1 with the ST3 seats so I could invest the ~ $5000 that the ST3 package would cost for more chassis and power plant upgrades such as an LSD (limited slip differential). The upgraded Mountune rear motor mount, Sport Spring Set, and 'cat-back' exhaust, Ford Performance Short Shift Assembly came to about half of the $5000 ST3 package. The cold air intake, intercooler, and Cobb/Mountune Tuner package plus a few eye-candy items and a complete set of WeatherTech floor mats brought my mod upgrades to around $4500. In my situation, the items such as heated and power seats, heated steering wheel, upgraded audio and Sync3, plus a few strips of carbon fiber and dual temperature controls were less valuable to me than the LSD and the other performance mods I chose in their place for the same amount of money. A front seat swap and a front sway bar and a custom tune from Mountune will take the total to ~$5000, the price of the ST3 versus the ST1....but to each his own. I went the performance route and others preferred a different route. All in all it's all good for ST owners and drivers. BTW, listen to RG5 and watch his videos; those needed a helping hand in designing their ST will benefit from taking his advice.....cya
FashionOutLook .....the dealer purchased them for me and included them in the revised base price...it worked out to ~ $800 for both seats and hardware is my best estimate when other items were included plus the rebate for the original ST1 seats...hope this helps
Thanks for letting me know. Thats actually a fair price considering what people are asking for used Recaro seats on eBay. My dealership said they could get the seats but I figured it would had been over priced. I'm defiantly getting that and upgrading the small screen. I'm glad I got an st1, saved way more money since I don't really care for all the other upgrades.
FashionOutLook : That's my thinking as well -- getting better brakes, a limited slip differential, a cat-back exhaust syatem, a complete short-shift unit (Ford Performance), Mountune progressive springs, a K&N filter unit, a decomposed unit, a better clutch Spring, Weathertech mats and window deflectors, Mountune rear motor mount, and a front set of Michelin Super Sport summer rubber (Perelli P-Zero all season on the rear), plus a few other items...I almost forgot -- a clear plastic front hood and side panel paint protector....to my way of thinking, FashionOutlook, that ~$5000 was much better than eye-candy and and other nice items. Now don't get me wrong, some people need (or want) things like the Ford Synch3, heated seats and wheel, carbon fiber trim items and shift ball, dual season control heat/air, a larger navy screen, blue-tooth and other electronics. I have no problem with those things, but being a former Trans-Am driver in SCCA and still a part-time owner of several TA2 and AM cars, my slant on things lean toward safety first over eye-candy and luxury features. I hope you can find some Recaro seats, however, I think the standard ST1 seats are more comfortable once the two or three hour cruise sets in. I think the Recaro leg support is a bit long for some fellow like myself (5'10" and 175 lbs). For track work, the race seats are excellent and do hold a driver in place especially with a 4 point harness system...good luck, and let me know how things turn out for you. You can mail me direct at my gmail account which works for me since I have access to it at the shop/garage....adios -- Jack
Love your videos man, been watching you for a bit. I am actually in the works of purchasing a 2017 Ford Focus St with the ST3 package. This is going to be my first manual car, I have been learning on an old mini cooper my friend has. I hope driving a modern manual will be a lot easier and smoother.
how do you like the sub woofer, I have a Honda type R and got that installed from factory and mine really isn't anything to brag about...Ive seen videos of upgrades for it so I may go that route.
Thnx fr the interior review, i have 2 questions... Are there rear a/c vents coming off the centre console? and are the rear seats equipped with iso fix for baby seat:) thnx bud
Great video Ben as always, the interior seems to get dumped on quite a bit mostly by reviewers and journalists. I’ve owned a 15 ST3 so the refreshed model and now an 18 RS I personally like the interior I understand that it is a beefed up econo car I think Ford put the money in the right places like the reacaro seats which I agree get much better over some time. I do agree that the VW wins in the interiors but all around Ford did a great job with these cars it’s a shame we won’t get to see the improvements to the upcoming MK4 which are supposed to be significant from what I’ve been reading.
My Titanium Hatchback has the exact same dash & screen. Buying an ST1 would actually be a downgrade from what I currently have as far as interior features goes. What I can't justify is Ford wanting 8-10K more for an ST1 vs. an ST2 & ST3. I also feel like the ST1 should come standard with an 8" screen.
PokerRun388 I have the st1 with all the features minus the carbon fiber or seats. It's the same shit. You are basically paying for the seats 😂😂😂 and stereo.
Does that chemical guys leather cleaner/conditioner you use leave any sort of odor? Like, after you dry it/wipe it off? My ST3 was just delivered a few hours ago and I'm buying some car cleaning stuff and want to get some leather cleaner/conditioner. Just curious.
Great videos. Keep up the good work. You have mentioned it in previous vids, but can you show how well golf clubs do, or do not, fit in the back? Thank you.
So today I went to a ford dealership and test drove a 2017 st and embarrassing enough I stalled 3 times. Idk I thought it would be easy to drive manual on the 2017... The sales guy didn't make the drive all that smooth either when he drove it too... He mixed a gear a few times and said it was common on the st... Idk how I feel about that. Also, he said the insurance is going to cost 2/3x more than what I'm use to paying which I thought the st was some what cheap since insurance companies think it's a basic focus and not a performance car.. So now I'm going to have to call State Farm and hope he's not right.. He thinks I might have to pay 2k+ a year.. Also he said he wouldn't recommend buying a used st (since I'm looking for an 2015/16) which I don't really agree with. But too each their own. I'm still going to buy an st but i just hope insurance isn't going to be as bad as he made it seem.
If you don't drive stick it can happen. Nothing to be embarrassed about. And the sales guy was lying when he said it was common thats not a thing at all he just probably doesn't drive stick either lol. Insurance is not bad at all I pay 97 a month for full coverage. I have a video on insurance that would probably help you a lot. Watch that and let me know if you have further questions
I wouldn't recommend buying a used ST bro, I'm no mechanic but I know that most ST owners are young and they like to abuse the fuck out of them. Save yourself from the headache and get a Honda or something.
Bookie Anderson kinda defeats the purpose getting a Honda or something. I don’t totally agree though used is fine you can buy any car from a teen beating it up. Just buyer beware same as anything used
@Gjeebs: Is the front edge of the seat adjustable up and down, so that your thighs aren't angled up so much? I'm eager to know because that's the only thing I didn't like about the ST2 Recaros..
Can I ask a question I have just got a 2013 ford focus st but I have no front heated seat but some other 2013 models have them? Is this normal and done have and some don't, confused 😕
It makes the "torque vectoring" (in quotes because it's not true torque vectoring) less intrusive. So when the wheel pulls one way or the other the bakes pinch a little to help the car straighten out. When you turn sport mode on it doesn't do this and the car just has more freedom.
+Daniel DevilD if you just need to haul luggage for a vacation you should be totally fine. The trunk isn't massive but there is plenty of room for just regular traveling
That's cool, thank you for your answer, I will decide, what type of car I will buy, for the moment, I'm owner of an 2001 Ford Focus 1.8tddi wagon, and I think i will continue with the wagon one... but I'm not decided yet.... Anyway, it's funny when you smoke a sports car with a wagon like this Focus ST. Here in Europe, we have the diesel version of Focus ST, but it has a 2 liter 4 cylinder diesel engine with 185 bhp.
haha the Wagon ST looks awesome. I've seen pictures of it. You will like the video I am about to post. I talk more about how the ST drives and take it on some great roads with Drone footage. Thanks for the support!
You welcome! Last night, I was watching on a sales cars website, and I was watching about the 2016 Fusion/Mondeo and it really look so awesome, but I'm still not figure out what Ford I will buy! The Fusion/Mondeo version has a 2 liters diesel engine which is bi-turbo, and it has 210 bhp...:D
18,000 miles you serious need to take off your intake manifold and inspect those intake valves. The PVC system on the Focus ST is terrible, so it would make for an interesting video because the intake manifold is really easy to take off enough to inspect the back of those intake valves.
okay that's not a huge deal to me, ST2 includes navigation as well as back up camera? the car salesmen im dealing with are very unaware of these packages and keep telling me wrong details.
Thanks, Ive been looking for a new car and was looking at these and after watching all your videos I defiantly plan on getting either a 2016 or 2017 model!
Americans and there heights... 6feet is tall 6.3 is huge it's so funny to hear if you are from holland like me I am 6feet 6/7 and I don't feel like I am that tall till you guys start talking about 6feet hahah

You will be fine. Just be patient with it. Once you get it you will have a blast.
My 16 year old son says the ST is much easier to drive than my old Mazdaspeed3.
omg im picking up a 2016 st2 tomorrow. I'm stoked My first car! Gonna learn stick shift on it too.
congrats!

just ordered that st shift knob for my fiesta ST
the local whore house line caught me so off gaurd lmao

Yea if you take in the fills package of the car it’s a very nice interior and especially for the cost
Lol 2:45

PokerRun388 it's not a downgrade. All three packages have the same engine.
PokerRun388 the RS is way more nice for the same price as the st3 and the RS is AWD
What did you pay for it and how do you adjust the passenger seat?
So how do you set what shows on the digital display? I can’t get the trip 1 info to go away
black_hawk3456 same I cant get the mph display to come up either.

When you say package do you mean the Ford Focus st3 (2016) performance pack ) ?
I wish the Center was more vw like don't like how the screen is so far in to the dash
Hey I just got my first ever manual car and I have this exact model do you have any tips?
How’s it going? 9 months later.
@@xKingzenity absolutely amazing, it makes driving so much more fun and it was definitely worth the struggle to learn

Good vid

it is not adjustable. That is the one downside of these seats

Did it come with full leather Recaro seats? Only ST3 gets heated seats
Idk if you know, but you can actually lay the seats flush instead of having that slight incline. :)
how
Nickfivelol take the head rests off of the back seats, tug the seat benches up and the backs should lay completely flat.
Yes I did know that and you are exactly right on how to do that. I haven't needed to use that yet but it is nice you have the option.
does it have apple carplay?
I'd have thought Ford would have included an auto dip rear view mirror
I want to like the vid, but i support the 420😂👽😤💯
The golf gti has a Bigger boot ((trunk) than the Focus ST 316 liters, 380 liters on the GTI.
ST has more power💪
strange I have 2013 focus st but looks so diffrent than yours?
They made a lot of changes. Mainly the steering wheel in the 15 and up model year
@@Gjeebs That obe is a 2015 model?
