Naw, I do feel bad. A lot of these guys grew up poor and got rich quick. Due to growing up poor and ussually lacking a formal finance education, they don’t exactly know how much expensive things are actually worth. This makes them easy targets for scams or having their money stolen by those close to them.

If a person comes into our shop & wants an iced AP, we going to let em know the value of the watch will be less than half after u bought cus we drilling holes into a limited watch so we steer them towards getting all gold Cuban w/ diamond to highlight this way we giving em the best option, esp if they want for it to maintain value,gold is a commodity as are diamonds but ones w/a certain size,quality, visibility & cut. I could be wrong but I doubt it but as an investment 10k of 24k gold bar than a 10k diamond. We explain the ups & downs &we ultimately do what the customer wants. And the reason I do is cus integrity but not rly I came from the struggle asking every store if they needed the sidewalks swept,windows clean or they garbage taken out. I was 7-8 then go to pathmark on the weekends to bag groceries for a tip & this is how I paid for food for my bros & sis. Then all you're paying for is the labor. These rappers and celebrities are impatient and don't wanna do the steps. They like taking the easy way out. And if the gold and diamonds are real then the jeweler can charge whatever they want. It's only when it's fake that they scammed the customer. But if everything is real and a customer is willing to pay for it. That's the customers fault.

They need to stop with the idea that you can put any diamond on a watch that wasn't set by the manufacturer and somehow create value. This idea is patently false. Once you set aftermarket anything on a real watch, it's instantly only worth what the materials can go for at scrap. It's all cap. Jewellers will say differently because they don't want these rappers to know that they will never be able to sell that watch for even the value of the most battered, broken, and shit-on watch of the same model that is real. Many are waking up, it's mostly thanks to Nico, but watchmakers have been saying this since the 90's. It's nothing new in the watch world; it's just that rappers are finally getting exposed because they flex on social media.
