A BIG huge, Linda...I will prey for you from here.

as a fervent pure rock music fan, this song always soothes my relax time, your son had good taste Linda, and its heartbreaking to read this.
Just remember, the friendship never ends.
Brings tears to my eyes even after 2 decades.... The era when music was at its best and most meaningful.
yes:( i’m so happy i was there to live it, i miss the purity and fun and escape it provided, now, in this chaotic, superficial world
Right!?!?! like, this song still kinda hurts the same as it did back then.

3 albums, 100 million copy in only six years, break up at the peak of their career, the best selling girlband in history. I can't say nothing more for their greatness
They came in, conquered and left. #icons.
And unlike most pop stars of that era they actually wrote their music, sing their sonhs and created their choreography (at least their first album). People that say they were manufactured because they auditioned and chosen to be in a girl group... but they came up with the SPICE theme and names.
@@doeeyes2 and they didn’t stay with the management that cast them. They never signed a contract with the Herberts.

My sister and I met Emma Bunton in 2014! She was so incredibly sweet!
This song is one of the saddest I know. I think a lot of the power comes from the fact that it meshed perfectly with the Spice Girls' story in two different ways. On the obvious level, they were saying goodbye to Geri, who had left the group. But on another level, the girls were saying goodbye to us. I think they knew that the Spice Girls moment was ending, and were probably aware of this second meaning to the song as they wrote and sang it. I think many of their fans understood it that way too. Many of their fans were quite young, so some might not have understood yet the way pop moments come and go, but I bet even they felt it.
Well said, makes me tear up
I was so sad when they stopped singing. Now I play this in memory of my friend.
Well, now I'm crying. Thanks a lot. I grew up with Spice Girls, I loved them so much. I want to go back to when I was 9, 10 y/o, not a care in the world. Sigh ...
I remember it, I was about 9 or 10, when geri left I knew it was the beginning of the end, so sad such great memories
Amen..well said my friend..
I really miss the 90s where every band/group/artist in every genre made beautiful and meaningful music. Even a metalhead like me can enjoy music like this.
Yeah I'm into rock and hip hop but here I am too.
I'm with you mate. Metal is in my heart but THIS is awesome

My sister and I were the biggest Spice Girl fans when we were growing up, in Feb 2008 she sadly passed away aged 19, we played this song at her funeral surrounded by all of her friends and family. It’s still hard to listen to without tears but always reminds me of what we had ❤️
Remember her as she was, Danny; she's now in Heaven.
That’s so sad yet uplifting at the same time. ❤️
I played this at my best friends funeral to. It means alot

So sorry to hear your loss sending hugs 🤗 ❤️❤️
One of their most elegant and beautiful songs.
Composed by Emma Bunton with a little help from Geri. But Emma finished this so they could release it in time for Geri's farewell.
I played this at my daughter’s funeral because she was always such girl power & this song seemed like the perfect fit with her personality! ❤ Plus I had always loved the Spice Girls too & used to be so in love with Sporty (Mel C aka Melanie Chisholm…) ❤
I'm sorry for your loss. God bless her soul.
She has angel eyes!❤❤❤

But you have to understand, Geri was hurting too. She was honest to God madly in love with Mel. But when Mel got pregnant Geri was crushed. I know how hard it is to be around the person you love when that person betrayed that love.

@@ashanfernando6388 - Yeah, she's only really known in Australia and somewhat in NZ and the UK.
This song represents more than just a member leaving a girl group. It signifies the end of an amazing 3 years with a girl group that changed a lot of our lives. We felt betrayal when Geri left. She not only left the group but she left our lives and for a lot of us teenagers it was our first time of feeling betrayed. Yeah deep but at the time it really hurt. Goodbye was the last song they did as a group who actually wanted to be together. Forever was completed just to prove they could release another album without Geri, but their hearts weren’t in it.
Forever is actually a really good album, there was just no mega promotions behind it unlike the first 2 albums. Vocally they sound amazing in forever, people only downplay it cause it wasent as successful as spice and spice world. Plus they had grown as people and the entertainment industry had changed to, r&b and hip hop was breaking through at the time. So of course they where gonna sound different can't keep the sound of there first album forever.

Spice Girls could certainly belt out a Christmas number one. Crazy to think that they basically came and went in under three years. Short-lived, but era-defining.
They have Christmas song
"Look for the rainbow in every storm. Find out for certain, loves gonna be there for you. You'll always be someone's baby." I adore the way she sings those words. When this song came out, I had been a Spice Girls fan since the beginning, and when I first heard this, as a fan, I wept. I felt as if they were singing to the fans. It's a beautiful song and it will always be. LoveU Spice Girls and ThankU for being a part of my life 😘
Llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Reading the start of this comment just had me balling my eyes out now.
And it is very significant that it's Mel B who sings that part (mostly that of "you'll always be someone's baby"), cosidering the reason why Geri left :/
Would listen to this song on repeat when I was younger. 20 odd years later and with so many loved ones passed, the words hit in such a different way now ❤❤
I love how this song is filled with love and respect. You can also feel the pain but at the same time there's something graceful and optimistic. I rarely see something like that when someone leaves a group/band. Great attitude from Spice Girls ❤
Dedicated to my lovely brother, Albert Tjhin. Rest in peace, 16th February 2019

No, no, no, no
Listen, little child, there will come a day
When you will be able, able to say
Never mind the pain or the aggravation

Look for the rainbow in every storm
Fly like an angel heaven sent to me
Goodbye, my friend
(I know you're gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here)
It's not the end
(I gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)
So glad we made it
Time will never change it, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
Just a little girl, big imagination
Never letting no one take it away
Went into the world (Into the world), what a revelation
She found there's a better way for you and me to be
Look for the rainbow in every storm
Find out for certain love's gonna be there for you
You'll always be someone's baby
Goodbye, my friend
(I know you're gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here)
It's not the end
(I gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)
So glad we made it
Time will never change it, no, no, no
No, no, no, no (You know it's time to say goodbye)
The times when we would play about
The way we used to scream and shout
We never dreamt you'd go your own sweet way
Look for the rainbow in every storm
Find out for certain love's gonna be there for you
You'll always be someone's baby
Goodbye, my friend
(I know you're gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here)

Oh boy this walloped me in my face, as a teen i had a bestie thatwas the most amazing bestie ive ever had and our friendahip ended, i miss her dearly but the friendship is over and i have to respect that..this comment made me smile and made me finally let go..thanks
I remember when my brother was watching MTV news (yes, we’re old) and he yelled to me that my favorite spice girl had left. It’s a core memory of mine…I grew up on the spice girls and owe them lots of core memories ❤
I really wish they would have continued making music as a group. They're magic together.
The thing I like about the Spice Girls is that they are very easy to listen to. Their voices aren't so aggressive. There are some singers that are great, with power, and attitude, but their voices are overly aggressive and can give you a heart attack. Spice Girls have really chill voices and you just relax when you listen.
That's absolutely absurd and it's wrong! The singer's tone in a song is an important one as it helps to promote the overall effect of the song that's being presented. And of course, there is a sense of sending the right type of tone with the right type of song in order to connect with the one whose listening. However, you are suggesting that in many songs with powerful singers is that they are aggressive with their tones in the songs that they sing and that is just not so. It's okay to love tones that are mellow, in which you are accustomed to but don't inadvertently use that as a excuse as to not to listen to songs with high level feelings and or emotions. After all, that's what tone represents in a song. What should be focused on is the message in that particular song. Don't be a one thing person!
I know what you mean
Miss you mom. She loved spice girls and this song was played this alot in my home before passing away in 2004 as a memorial for her friend. I remember her crying to this missing her closest friend. Mel C's voice is like nothing else, simply amazing
She's amazing xx
I've always thought she had the best voice of the group, But Geri and Emma were pushed for the "... appel" and Victoria was also eye candy. To me without Mel C and Mel B it wouldn't have been as amazing as they were. No hate I just thought that they were the best.
I was a little of an odd kid, grew up listening to classical music until fifth grade when I learned it wasn’t cool. So I got into pop and fell in love with the Spice Girls when they started going from cool to schtick. I remember the day Ginger left the group, tears everywhere, running to my mom to tell her the news (she was pretty indifferent). This came out at a time where Ginger just left and we all (I imagined-the remaining spice girls and me) were in mourning. I remember crying so much. I just listened to Viva Forever tonight and that one got me blubbering just like I had when this one came out. The Spice Girls will always have a special place in my heart.
I remember the day it came out .I was maybe 15. Full of hopes and dreams. And I know we still have them. What a great song it is !
The impact these girls had and still have on many of us is impressive. Sure, other groups came along, had great success as well, but there's something magical about the Spice Girls. That IT thing that others can't replicate.
They each had a curated persona which other bands didn’t replicate. And their songs were fantastic!
You’re right. I’m 19 and they’re my favorite girl band. They were more than a band but a movement too. There will not be another girl band like them. They didn’t need to appear naked or singing vulgar words to become the biggest girl band of all time.
Absolutely right. Something special with Spice girls.
They celebrates differences of each other and tells their fans to go out and don’t care what other people will say
They are so popular that everybody knows at least wannabe. Everyone

I was so obsessed with SPICE Girls in high school. When this song came out in 1999 I was so sick in October, I had hog flu and hearing this song made me sad. There were glimpses of it on TV, but they never showed the whole video. This is probably the first time in over 20 years I have actually seen the video in its entirety. Its a very infectious song and sticks in your mind. Another song that comes to mind is Vitamin C - Graduation.
I'm a guy and we were all listening to the spice Girls. spice Girls was my first pay per view thing my parents let me buy my God I was glued. when geri left in 98 it was breaking something that couldn't ever be put back together. oh I still think.they were good and I enjoyed their 5 something reunions but that magic is kind of hard to re create. Geri for sure is missed, but is nice to see that they manage to produce master pieces like this one even in her absence.
Apparently she helped write it
Would’ve been a bigger hit if only Ginger Spice aka Geri Halliwell was part of the singing because I’m sure her strong voice would have brought a lot of life to the choir part of the song! 🎵

I thought this track was like, explicitly about her leaving.
@@Monechetti it was originally Witten about the Dunblane massacre. After Geri left they rewrote but she is credited in the song as a writer. "Spice Girls" are all 5. In Forever, writing credits would be listed individuallullly
The best female band, that has existed all over the earth, no other and legacy also, I am proud to say that I was a fan at the time, but now in these times I only have their memories and the best of all was that they made me spend very nice moments and the best that is of the 90,and the year 1997 will be the year I will never forget, thank God for everything
Melanie C's voice really gets to me. Love that Swag from Mel B. Angelic voice from Emma. Victoria's poise! Missing Ginger Spice!
Good bye mom its been 5 years since you been gone the shock of it still hurts We miss you and love you see you in heaven someday
When i hear this song i remember of my singing teacher, today he pass away becuase of the fucking cancer. He teached me when i was 13 years, he always was transparent and happy. Rest in peace Andres😢
Sporty ate this tf up ♥️✨🔥
Well this hits different at the age of 41, in the middle of grieving the loss of a friendship of over 25 years. Never thought I'd be here listening to Spice Girls, bringing me to tears 😅 😭 what a beautiful song ❤️ I miss you.

Probably the best song they recorded. Mel C is absolutely gorgeous in this video, she always was my favourite and was without a shadow of a doubt the strongest singer in the group.xx
I'm so proud of Mel C she's from widnes and I live in widnes 💜💙💜💙
MEECHIO Holler was their best song in the Forever album
