Tenshinryu Hyouho is a school of traditional Japanese Martial Arts which comprises various types of classical forms. It also includes battojutsu or the art of drawing the sword. These sword-drawing techniques are so quick that a swordsman has the ability to land a strike first even when being attacked from behind or being chased.

I’ve fenced for many years and have trained under Italian and French Masters and years ago, I realized the genius of the Japanese form and their weapon. Vastly, in my opinion, the superior form and the superior weapon. If I were beset in Medieval times against those who meant myself or others I care for harm, I would prefer a katana and the proper training over a heavy broadsword almost anytime.
You only fence, mate. Check out HEMA before you made such statement about "heavy sword" because medival longsword is just as heavy as a katana, they're almost the same weight and the longsword has higher reach. Each weapons were designed for it's own purpose, you bring a "superior" katana to the west and the longer reach of a saber and rapier would destroy you hard. Because that sword was not designed to work in the western medival context
